(More customer reviews)The G900 is a worthy successor to the Sony Ericsson P1i. It fact, its is every bit as good and even better than the Sony Ericsson Walkman Flagship W960i.
Though it uses the same Symbian UIQ3 platform as the P1i, the user interface has been polished with the addition of easy to use home screen panels. You can add panels for different applications like messaging, music player, application shortcuts, tasks and calender. These home screen panels make the phone much more user friendly than the P1i and the W960i.
The G900 also has a much improved media manager for your pictures, movies, and music files. The media application would be familiar to people who use the PSP and the PS3. It has the feel and looks like the media crossbar that Sony uses in its Playstation line.
The G900 also has a 5 mega pixel camera with a picture light. The light can also be used as a bright flash light which can be handy in an emergency situation. The pictures taken by the camera can be a little washed out and lack the vibrant colors of some better 5MP camera phones like the Nokia N95.
It has a traditional candy bar form factor. It is much slimmer and smaller than the P1i and the W960i. This makes it a lot more user friendly and more pocketable. Its size combined with its easy to use user interface makes this phone attractive to people who want smart phone capabilities but don't want to deal more complex to use phones. Simply put, this is the best smart phone that Sony Ericsson has made to date...until the Xperia X1 is released at least. :)

-Does not support EDGE or US 3G networks (Supports UMTS 2100 for European 3G)
-Though it takes 5MP pictures, the pictures are not as vibrant as other 5MP camera phones
-Lack of built in GPS
-Base package does not have any memory stick included
-The Opera web browser could be better and does not support flash

Samsung SGH A727 - Cellular phone - GSM - bar Review

I am not a huge follower of phones, but I have been with the new 'at&t' [formerly 'Cingular'/'Pacific Bell Wireless' before the name change] almost since the beginning of the wireless service for the average consumer. I feel I have a good understanding of the provider's network, including its reception limitations and highlights.
I have been using many 'freebie' phones -- the Nokia 6190, 3360, and 6010... and various other free phones in between, which just so happen to mainly be Nokias -- so my observation of the Samsung A727 will be based on that incredible leap from those phones to this little slim-line device.Design:
The design is very attractive; though normally, I do not pay much attention to those details as much as I focus on what I require in a phone. However, you can tell the phone was built well (seems more streamlined and mesh rather than the older phones that allow you to switch covers to `customize') compared to what you could get for the same amount of money a few years back. It is obviously based on the trend of `razor' thin phones which could/could not be a good thing... so it means less external customization [which is fine by me].
The major thing to get used to is how thin this phone is - and I personally do not understand why anyone would want thinner (or why some reviewers envision this for the cell phone future). It feels like (if given the casing material didn't feel reinforced) it is thin enough to break if you put it in your back pocket... which I still think is possible, so I put it in my front ones. The A727's cousins (the `distant cousin' A707 and the `almost family' A717) defeat this problem by offering the same [or similar] technology as a flip phone.
I mentioned a little earlier than the phone's casing/shell feels like reinforced rubberized-grip plastic... or some sort of polymer that everyone (incl. the manufacturer) fails to mention. Whatever it is, the material seems more durable (by density and weight) than what you usually get on a phone if it's not aluminum-based -- but I won't know for sure until I drop it someday. I am almost certain the casing is mostly some form of plastic, since the battery lid is definitely plastic, and feels like the rest of the case; however I will update as soon as Samsung gets back to me about what it's made of [paragraph cut short until I get an update].
The TFT screen -- visible in daylight, which I can say some Motorola phones don't do -- is large, bright and crisp. However, you pay for it with smaller, streamlined buttons below it. Yes, as many other reviewers pointed out, these buttons have no grip to begin with - coupled with being very close together makes it hard to text or to dial a number correctly without having a mistake (and having to erase). It may take some getting used to, but there are more buttons on the front of this phone than I have ever seen on my `freebies'. Also, due to the phone's thinness and center of gravity, it may be hard to text with one hand until you learn to balance it in your fingers (hard to explain, but you'll understand if you try it out in stores). The buttons are definitely not friendly if you have fingernails at all... or even blind (no features to tell the buttons apart)... but maybe that's just my opinion.
Overall, the design of the phone is nice and pleasing, but it does require some getting used to. I can imagine that some people have already gotten over these hurdles if they have had other `razor' thin phones -- it is definitely a new thing to use a small `candy bar' design this thin though, so be prepared.Reception:
Well, the reception of this phone is mixed. However, I think this is due to how the phone works and how the new at&t wireless service works. I have not noticed it before, but this phone makes bad reception calls more evident (by artificially boosting the voice), but keeps the good reception calls clear. You will notice that there will be times that this phone switches from E (meaning a digital signal) to 3G (which I am sure is the high-speed, possibly satellite-based signal) and vice versa. Think of 3G to be a roaming feature (without the extra charges... I think) when it comes to calls... I found that talking in `E' mode meant I had usually good call quality and little to no time saying `huh?' or `what?' However, when the phone switched to `3G mode' signal, the voices became distorted and artificial... or even blurry.
The caveat to the above experience is that on `3G mode', I would have 2-3 bars of signal... and on `E mode', it usually meant I had full signal. If you go into the basement of some building or parking lot, you will most likely be in `3G mode.'
I am happen when my phone is in `E mode,' but somewhat displeased with `3G mode' -- I do not know what the cause of this is... but I feel it happens with other at&t phones, just that the older phones don't tell you what kind of signal you're using... so it could be more service than the phone itself. Please comment if you have witnessed this. However, the phone is very crisp when the reception is high, but artificial and blurry when the reception is low (if you live in an area that has good reception all around, then it will probably be excellent).
Side note: I find that I can text in places that normally would be considered `no signal' zones. Very handy for situations -- should try driving up to some remote places and seeing how well the signal holds.
I am pleased with the phone's reception as I live in the heart of the Bay Area. However, I do notice my calls to Sprint-based cell phones are less clear compared to my calls to Cingular/at&t, Verizon, and local lines.Features:
The phone comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera, which I suppose is cool, but unnecessary - good for emergency shots at high quality though (like a car accident or something you want to catch). Very easy and intuitive to use (the button on the right side of the phone is the camera button - just press and hold, then click for each shot). The quality of the pictures taken is quite high, so make sure you don't jitter too much if you want a good shot (the resolution of photos seem to be 1280 x 1024).
The MP3 player is unnecessary in my opinion -- and it seems to require special / separate headphones to make the sound quality higher (no full range... missing bass, some low tones, no mids, but retains the high notes). I guess it is nice to have an all-in-one phone, but I will continue to keep my MP3 player separate in case I run the cell phone battery out when I need it.
What I do like is the ability for microSD file transfer -- no need for a data cable when these little memory cards are so cheap and versatile unless you're looking to unlock or something. If you want a new ringtone, picture background, video, or game, you can download it and put it on the microSD and transfer to the phone - very handy feature... especially when these little memory cards are getting a) cheaper and b) larger.
The battery life is poor with the standard battery it comes with. I found 3.5 hours tops of talking time and probably 3 to 5 days of standby - less of each if you do massive amounts of texting. This probably can be alleviated by turning down the TFT screen lighting, but it turns down pretty instantly (2-3 seconds) if idle.
There aren't enough customization options in the phone's operating system. While you can change the format to mimic, say, a Nokia's menu... you only get to assign 4 buttons to certain pre-determined tasks (like opening up a blank text message). Though this is handy, I'd like to be able to customize all the buttons that are unnecessary to the phone (like the music button) to, say, profile selection... just in case I want to change ring profiles quickly during a meeting (which doesn't seem possible at the moment).
3G speed Internet... well... I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure it's nice (I've seen it with other phones). Probably difficult to use until you get the text-typing down.
Final note: there is no large amount lag in the operating system when switching menus or using memory intensive features (as with older phones of its kind). I like this because I remember older phones having such a lag that made it useless to make calls with.Conclusion:
In the end, the phone is nice looking, decent in features, and performs better than other phones in terms of reception and call quality-- but of course, you can always find a few faults in each category. However, the major things I look for in a phone is good reception and a phone design that fits in my hand comfortably as I do whatever tasks I need to do. All the other features are `nifty,' but unnecessary to me, so my star rating is based on those qualities.
I believe the quality of calls is very good compared with it's relatively lower SAR rating (radiation) of 1.05W/kg [head] compared to older generation phones and the first generation of slim phones which had close to the legal max (1.6W/kg in the U.S. and 2.0W/kg in the EU).

(More customer reviews)The Nokia 2700 is a basic GSM phone with next-generation Nokia styling--sleeker, more sophisticated, and no longer reminiscent of LEGO. For people upgrading from an older phone, the screen is gorgeous, displaying information large and clear with the help of tasteful wallpaper and themes. The classic user interface and shortcuts are carried forward from past Nokias I have owned, and it has been pretty easy for me to navigate.
Of course economics dictate that a phone this affordable comes with trade-offs. For starters, the one-piece back that gives access to the battery and SIM card is about as easy to open as a secret passageway. Apart from vague instructions on exactly where to press, the phone's all-plastic construction belies the force required to open it. The SIM slot does not pivot up like my previous Nokia, so inserting and removing cards is a pain. For people staying with the same carrier, this is a one-time inconvenience and not an issue. But given that this is an inexpensive quad-band phone (no US carrier uses all 4 bands), I'm thinking most buyers are going to want to swap the SIM for a local card in another continent. To be fair this phone is actually not sold or supported by Nokia USA, so was not intended for this market. One thing I am still trying to get used to is the screen going completely blank when the backlight times out. I've not found a way to customize how many seconds it stays on, but the printed manual--which states it is an abridged version that does not cover all features--has not helped. The 2MP camera is barebones, and I'm going to take the word of an outspoken European reviewer on YouTube that the video quality is pretty atrocious.
Nokia allows the 2700 to operate even without a SIM card inserted. This could be useful, especially when I want to move my SIM to another phone and possess only one card. I personally do not plan to use the built-in instant messenger, web browser, media player, micro USB port (requires cable purchase and is not compatible with Mac OS), download apps, or upgrade the capacity of the micro SD card (although latter is a nice feature). I am not even sure if these 'classic' capabilities can satisfy a user who really wants a smartphone but can only afford the 2700. Battery life is OK with a recharge required every 3 days if used sparingly and left on 24/7. I'm not sure if riding the subway 1-1/2 hrs a day causes the phone to hunt for a signal and drain the battery faster.
At the end of the day, this is a smart looking phone at a very reasonable price. For someone like me who uses a phone mainly as a phone, and wants it to be a 'candy bar' type that is not ugly, it fits my bill perfectly. T-Mobile works on it right out of the box, and I have yet to experience any reception problems in and around New York City. Well done Nokia. 4.5 stars.THREE MONTH UPDATE:
It turns out the back cover is easier to remove the 2nd and subsequent times, and it's actually not too hard to swop SIM cards. As noted in the comments, Nokia sells the 2730--a similar model for the US market.
So far, I have been pleased with reception and sound quality. No doubt about it, the battery lasts a couple of days longer--4 days in Asia and Europe vs. 2-3 days in NYC, despite more talking and texting overseas. I can't figure out why. Signal strength? Charging voltage? Some frequency bands draw more power?
Because it comes with a non-US power supply with round prongs, a cheap adapter was provided by the seller. When I plug it into the wall, the whole assembly droops and charges for only a little while before the connection is broken. I have taken to recharging from a power strip on the floor so the prongs point downward, but it's still a balancing act. I may have to bite the bullet and buy a US charger from Nokia.
The membrane keypad is low profile enough that I no longer lock the keys before putting it in my pants pocket. People with longer finger nails may leave permanent dents in the membrane surface. This, and the fact that the keys are close together, means it is not suited to heavy text messaging. The rounded square navigation ring works well for me.
I'm still very happy with my 2700. I know the profit margin is way better on smart phones, but Nokia, please keep offering these well-designed classic phones for the rest of us.

Not everyone wants a phone/computer/camera/e-mail retriever/Klingon translator/backhoe/satellite TV. Some of us just want a dependable phone with outstanding battery life, solid reception that doesn't drop calls and sounds good. This sturdy little unit does all that with aplomb, takes bearable pictures, has a very decent speakerphone, is bluetooth capable, and has PTT for those so inclined. I weathers abuse well and the battery life runs circles around every cell phone I've had previously. If you want a phone that does everything under the sun, but none of it very well, this is not the phone for you. If you're intent on a phone that is an outstanding phone, this unit should be on your list.

(More customer reviews)I dón't write product reviews normally, however this phone is so acomplished, so I felt inclined to share my experience for those who are looking for a well balance smartphone with very good size without communications compromises. I have been using this phone since January this year. The best fetures are: Size and weight are just perfect when you are travelling while really working at the same time, it is wifi enabled so you can avoid expensive packed data fees while still check your email on the go at airports and cafes with wifi free spots, if you are in a hurry to check internet data you still can use 3g / 3.5g data connections, it is a blazing fast smartphone with true multitasking, coming from many years using palm os I became acustomed to not have multitasking at all, but let me tell you that symbian is a great mobile OS far better than the venerable palm OS, almost any application you might need is available at affordable prices or even for free, the interface is also very intuitive and very easy to understand. While it is a very good communicator, it is not a phone for all, because its multimedia capabilities are in the medium to low level, the camera is just for occasional pictures that do not require neither a flash nor a good focus and the included speaker is not stereo so you need a good headset with stereo output to listen to your tunes, radio has not RDS, these are the characteristics I like to improve, however probably that requires a larger and heavier body I would not like. If you need to synchronize your mobile with your desktop just named your preferred pim application: Outlook, Lotus Notes, Lotus Organizer all could be set up to be in sync with the E51, you could even sync with your corporate services under Microsoft Internet Server. Also if you like the blackberry the E51 could run the Nokia Blackberry Connect application, even when the Nokia site has not included this model as certified for the application, it could run it without issues. What else you could desire in a phone the same size of a regular not smart one at this price level. Bottom line the slimmest S60 smartphone available with wifi and full gsm and data connections set.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the E65, thanks to its EDGE data connectivity (and compatibility with 850/2100 MHz 3G networks).The integrated Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g) enables you to make VoIP phone calls over an open network, and it offers a variety of security settings (WPA2-Enterprise, WPA2-Personal, WPA-Enterprise, WPA-Personal). (More customer reviews)To me, the deciding factors for a phone are: Call Quality, Size, Batttery Life, Features. So this is what I will focus on:
CALL QUALITY: I'm also very impressed with the call quality and clarity. Both with and without bluetooth, I no longer have to repeat myself or say "what?". The speaker is very loud and clear and unlike the RAZR, you don't have to hold it a certain way to hear. The overall reception is great.
SIZE: The phone is a bit longer than most, but it's very narrow and thin. It a very good compromise. As a result, it's very comfortable as a handset when talking, feels good in the hand, and I am VERY happy with how it feels in my pocket.
The build feels fairly solid and I don't expect to see loose parts in the future.
BATTERY LIFE: OK, I must RAVE here. I received this phone over a week ago and charged it up immediately. I am now on day 8, yes day EIGHT, and have yet to charge the phone again. It's still showing 1 battery bar. Needless to say, I'm quite impressed. Granted, I only enabled the bluetooth radio when I use it and I've only spent about 100 minutes talking on it this past week. Neither of my previous 2 LG phones lasted longer then 3 days under any conditions though.
FEATURES: It has all the bells and whistles: camera, evdo, mp3 playback, voice recorder, video capture, etc... I've not put these to the test yet though.
I must also comment on the charger\data port. It is a standard usb mini port. This means you can buy a standard non-proprietary USB A to USB mini B cable ( < $5 ) and connect this phone to your computer's USB port to RECHARGE THE PHONE and for any needed data connectivity. It's a VERY VERY NICE FEATURE to me. No longer do I need to spend an additional $20 for a data cable and another $30 for a second charger. $5, hook the phone to my pc at work or on the road, and recharge.
Now the cons,
1) yes, it shows fingrprints. Wipe it and forget it.
2) I'll be suprised if the the charger port cover lasts two years. I don't now a better way to cover it though.
3) Screen is smaller than some. This is due to the size of the phone though.
4) DAMN VERIZON for crippling this phones bluetooth profiles and also putting their interface on it. Verizon does this on all their phones though so nothing that you can get around.

(More customer reviews)I bought this about a week ago from Amazon, excellent cellphone is all I can say. I considered the Z550a I was using before a masterpiece, but the W508a is even better. The phone has a slick design and it's very lightweight and low profile. The Z550a was slightly bulky in comparison.
I get no signal problems and battery lasts for about 5 days with normal use. I have a Sony Ericsson HBHDS980 Stereo Bluetooth Headset that goes with it. With music heavy streaming I can use it for a whole day before it needs recharge.
The headset is feature rich and I have mostly explored the music features and they all work really well. The SensMe feature is just awesome because I don't always feel like selecting 30 to 40 music tracks to listen, with SensMe the player does it for me according to my mood. The phone has superb voice quality and can ring loudly.
The only complain is the external display doesn't show the clock permanently like the Z550 did. I wish I didn't had to open it to look at the clock. Perhaps a feature coming with a new firmware. Another minor complaint is that the vibration is rather weak, again compared to the Z550a. But I can still feel the phone ringing, I'll have to see if I can feel the phone ringing on my pocket when in a loud place.

Build quality seems very good, although the first one I received had a "Back" button that did not work, a manufacturing flaw. The replacement arrived overnight and is fine.
Pros
- Excellent call quality. First and foremost, the M600 works very well as a phone. I am on T-Mobile.
- NO CAMERA. This was a primary factor for me, as I cannot have a camera phone at work.
- Great form factor. Unlike a lot of Pocket PC phones, this one is small enough to carry easily.
- Multiple input methods. You can use the "rocker" keyboard, which works great, the pop up virtual keyboard, or character recognition. I think that only Sony-Ericsson is still doing character recognition - you simply write on the screen with the stylus and the program types the letters. Way cool. What is a "rocker" keyboard? Well, it's not anything to do with rock-and-roll! Each key has two letters on it, and you push one side or the other to get that particular letter. An "ALT" key supports alternate letters above the normal ones. It is very fast once one becomes accustomed to the letter positions.
- Cool interface. Obviously, the UIQ 3 operating system takes some getting used to, especially after a Pocket PC device. But it looks good and works well. Be prepared for a learning curve. For example, dialing a number is as easy and pushing the numbers - there is not phone "application" such as one finds in the Pocket PC Phone world. However, this is only possible one the main "Standby" screen. In general, this device seems more "thought out" and "integrated" than a PPC. Consider it more of a MAC than a PC.
- Excellent support. Sony Ericsson has a way to send a text message to configure the internet options on the phone. Very painless. It was equally simple to update to the latest firmware. If you get this phone, be sure and get the latest firmware - it allows one to eliminate menu animation, which makes the OS much faster at rendering the menu screens.
- Great battery life. I get 2 to 3 days of normal use. My old PPC got two days at best.
- Support for Java programs.
- Touch screen, which is unusual in a smart phone. Only some games support this feature, but I found a great bowling and pool application that work with the stylus.
- The included games are pretty good, especially the Golf game.
- Includes programs to view and (sometimes) edit Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents, as well as a PDF reader. The feature set is somewhat limited in Excel, and I actually had to change some formulas in one of my spreadsheets in order to get it to edit on the device. It definitely won't do any database statistical functions. If the Excel reader doesn't support any of the formulae in the spreadsheet, it only opens in a "viewer" mode, with no editing possible. For those with a need for complex Excel or Word documents, there is no better device than a PPC - naturally, since MS makes Windows Mobile 5 and MS Office. But the included programs work well enough. There is also a $50 program called "Documents to Go" that has better support, including database Excel functions. I ended up forking over the bucks for this program, and it has been worth the money.
- Includes support for "push" email (like a Blackberry). I do not use the phone for corporate purposes, so I haven't used this feature. It is a separate program that has to be installed.
- Supports POP, IMAP, and SMTP authentication. The inbox will store message headers forever until they are deleted from the server. Once they are deleted on the server (typically by your PC email program), the next time the M600 synchronizes email it will remove the headers. If you download a message there is an option to "delete locally", which deletes the body - but still leaves the header. If you delete the header, it deletes the email on the server. This takes some getting used to. You can schedule periodic automatic email checks separately for each inbox.
- Supports both text messages and Multimedia Messaging (MMS).
- Supports a 2 Mb Memory Stick Micro card, to store plenty of data or music. The card is hot-swappable, on the outside of the phone.
- Integrated video and music player, plus software to transfer songs to the phone. Supports DRM (which can be considered either good or bad).
- Includes backup software to allow one to back up the phones memory to the PC.
- The phone will optionally charge from a USB cable if desired. I prefer to let the battery get to around 20% and then power the phone off and fully charge the battery. It charges very rapidly - around 1 hour or so. A wall charger (European with American adaptor) is included.
- UMTS (high speed internet). This is a 2700 Mhz band used for high speed data in Europe only. BE SURE TO TURN OFF SEARCH FOR UMTS IF YOU ARE IN AMERICA - the UMTS search eats up a lot of battery. The phone can be set to only search for GPRS, which is the slower protocol.
- Includes Bluetooth support, including handsfree. The handsfree works VERY well.
- Contacts can be added to one of nine quick dial buttons, and each contact can have multiple phone numbers and a photograph assigned, plus Email addresses and (in general) just about anything else that MS Outlook supports. Ringtones can be added from MP3 files stored on the phone.
- Voice dialing and answering is fully supported, only in handsfree mode.
Cons
- Tri band. This phone does not support the 850 Mhz frequency used by Cingular (AT&T). It works fine on the T-Mobile bands. However coverage will be best around interstates and large cities. Some people prefer the "Quad Band" phones, which will roam on more networks here in the US.
- No WiFi capabilities.
- NO CAMERA. I know, I already listed this as a "Pro" item, but many people want a camera on their phone. Not on this model! However, the upcoming Sony Ericsson P1 is the same form factor as this phone and includes both a camera and WiFi.
- No EDGE support - only GPRS, which is slower. Think of it as a 28 baud modem, and that is the correct speed. However, WAP sites load fast enough using the built in browser, which loads smaller pictures of websites by default.
- The voice dialing does not include "character recognition". This means that one has to go into each phone number and record the contact information exactly as one will say it to do hands-free dialing. Be aware that voice dialing only works with either the corded or BT handsfree attached.
- No profiles. Most devices have (at least) built in profiles, or customizable profiles. Thus one could set the phone to "handsfree profile", and automatically turn on the BT, etc. This phone doesn't have this feature.
- Unable to customize the main screen. In the M600 this is the "standby" screen, and the only thing that can be customized is how much of the calendar and messaging one wants to display. One can change the five icons across the bottom, but that is it. Coming from the PPC world of Windows Mobile 5, where the entire "today" screen can be optimized, this is a bit of a disappointment. No "plug-ins" allowed!
- Relatively low memory. I have not run out of memory yet, but I am careful to close all applications after I use them. Like the PPC, this device will leave programs in memory, not actually close them. However, it is much simpler to close the programs than on the PPC. The device really should have come with 128 mb, like most of the competition. Note again that the new P1 will have 128 mb of memory.
- The included web browser (opera mini) basically uses up the entire memory of the device.
- The device can occasionally lock up. I have had this happen while adding voice dialing to the contacts, and once when I tried to make a call while the phone was just finished with another call. In each case I recovered by turning the power off and on. It has only happened three times, which is way better than my old WM 5 PPC phone, which locked up and misbehaved all the time.
- VERY tight battery cover. OK, this is a bit picky, and I know they are trying to get good tolerances in their construction, but the battery cover took a LOT of pressure to get off. I finally found that if you hold the phone upside down and use the right thumb at the base and the left thumb at the top of the battery cover, the cover can be removed - but it is still difficult. If you plan to switch batteries a lot, you might keep this in mind.
- The SIM card fits under the battery cover, and is nearly impossible to get out without tweezers. This isn't too big an issue, since 1) you can't remove the battery cover anyway [little humor there], and 2) you seldom switch SIM cards anyway.
- I synchronize my calendar with Outlook XP, and I found that my repeating annual appointments will duplicate in the phone and in Outlook if I connect the phone to the computer while Outlook is already running. So I have to be sure to close Outlook before connecting the phone. I had about 10 copies of everyone's birthday when I realized what was happening. Deleting them was, to say the least, very interesting. I ended up deleting a couple of birthdays entirely and re-entering them.
Summary:
If you are tired of large devices and MS nonsense, this phone is for you. You have to get to know the OS, and the whole point is that it ISN'T that customizable - but it is stable and dependable.

Design The Z550's slim clamshell form factor keeps things stylish and portable. The inside of the flip features a massive 176 x 220 display while a 1.3-megapixel camera lens resides on the outside of the flip. The outside of the handset also features a unique rectangular screen that can display call information, time, battery and signal strength, and more. A five-way directional button on the front of the device controls most of the phone's menus and features. An M2 memory stick slot is provided for easy memory expansion--an ideal way to store all your favorite music and photo files. USB and Bluetooth connectivity is also included, as is convenient drop-and-go USB mass storage transfer capability.
Calling Features The Z550's phone book can contact information with multiple entries per contact. A call list remembers your most recent missed, received, and dialed calls. Instant messaging is also supported and the phone ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP protocols. (More customer reviews)This is one awesome little phone. First of all the screen is the brightest and most detailed I have found on any phone. In the store it is so bright it just screams at you. I have found that reducing the brightness to 70% is more than adequate. If you have trouble reading a phone in direct sunlight, fear no more. As for features, there are just too many to mention. I first learned about it from the Toyota website as I just bought a Prius. It is one of the VERY few phones that will integrate seamlessly with the car. It can even upload its phone book via Bluetooth to the car. Most phones (except smart phones/PDA's) will not. They are also 3 times the price. It has a great sounding MP3 player. It is stereo Bluetooth, FM radio...I could go on and on. There are some great themes free online so you can customize away. If there was one gripe it would be that it doesn't come with an M2 memory card which it needs if you are going to load up on music and photos. I can't complain though as this phone is very affordable. Some complaints I have heard are that the number keys are too small. Well, I'm 6'2" and about 280lbs. (not a small guy) and I don't have any problem getting my fingers to work the buttons. The other complaint I have heard about is battery life. Well I have talked and talked and played with this thing for 3 days now, and the battery is still more than half. I'm not sure what people think is good, but after my RAZR...pffft...this thing is great. My techie coworkers were amazed by the display and all agreed that it was unbelievably bright. I would recommend this jewel to anyone who wants a great phone that has a lot of cool features. It blows away the Samsung SCH-a737 and the LG Shine. Go to a local AT&T store and play with one. Then buy one at whatever outlet suits you.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a durable flip phone sans the superfluous frills which I never use. I needed something reliable with excellent "send and receive" calling quality. This unit is larger and feels sturdier than most of its genre. Its relatively bigger buttons and and overall hefty profile were the first features that caught my eye. For an indiivudal like myself with larger hands that often holds my phone in the neck-twisting, hands-free head/shoulder crunch mode, the extra size of this model is an asset. I don't have a case and keep the phone in my pants pocket. So far it has endured this manner of travel. Good bi-directional audio quality and a nice loud ring which I prefer. One drawback...forget about the reading the screen in direct sunlight. The interface is Verizon Du Jour and if you like toying with extra features there's plenty to keep you busy. Barring the screen issue this is a phone I highly recommend.

Ruggedized to military standards, the super-tough Casio G'zOne Type S clamshell phone is able to withstand the penetrating elements of rain, humidity and even submersion in water. It's also shock resistant and its dust-resistant keyboard will stay fully operational even in swirling sandstorms (see more about testing standards below). This dual-band phone runs on Verizon's 800/1900 MHz CDMA network, which offers access to Verizon's Get It Now virtual store (for downloads of games, ringtones, wallpapers and more) and VZ Navigator for audible maps, turn-by-turn directions and location information. Other features include a VGA camera with flash, video capture capability, Bluetoooth connectivity for communication headsets and data transfer, speakerphone, and voice activated dialing.
Built tough, the G'zOne Type S has a clamshell design that's set within a protective bed of silicon rubber and surrounded on the outside by a sturdy frame of reinforced plastic coated with polyurethane. The G'zOne Type S is also one of the first cell phones to be able to withstand blowing rain, high humidity, and immersion underwater for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter (with ports closed) thanks to the handset's construction with unique screws, water-resistant filters and O-ring combinations.
Underneath the clamshell, the G'zOne Type S has a 1.8-inch color TFT screen (176 x 220-pixel resolution) with support for 65K colors. The outside features a supplementary monochrome LCD screen that can display incoming call information, battery life, signal strength, current date and time, stopwatch functions, and more. The protected camera lens and LED flash (which also doubles as a flashlight) reside on the front cover, just above the external display, while up/down volume controls and a camera control button are on the right side of the phone. On the back, the battery cover has a locking mechanism that can be secured before taking the phone into watery conditions.
The built in memory provides room for up to 500 contact entries in the phone's address book. A voice dialing feature makes calling friends and associates as easy as saying their names, while the built-in speakerphone allows you to talk handsfree. The phone also comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones and a vibrating alert, and more ringtones can be downloaded via Verizon's Get It Now service. Ringtones can be assigned to specific callers so you don't have to look at the phone to know who's calling, or you can match pictures with callers to identify them. It also ships with a number of handy tools including a calendar, notepad, alarm clock, world clock, calculator, countdown timer, and stopwatch.
For snapping photos on the go, the G'zOne Type S is equipped with a VGA camera that includes a 2x digital zoom and integrated flash. You can shoot images in one of three resolutions (640 x 480, 320 x 240, and 120 x 160 pixels), and the camera lets you control settings for brightness, white balance, and three color effects. It provides a self-timer of up to 10 seconds for self-portraits, and you can turn the shutter sound on or off. Additionally, you can capture video clips in QCIF resolution (176 x 144 pixels) up to 15 seconds in length, and you can use the flash as a recording light.
This phone provides Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and includes profiles for communication headset, and handsfree car kits. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. Additionally, you can connect your laptop and enjoy dial-up networking (DUN)--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server--using using the G'zOne Type S as your modem.
For messaging, the G'zOne Type S provides support for text messaging (SMS), enhanced messaging service (EMS) for sending audio files, multimedia messaging (MMS) for sending pictures and video, and IM chatting. The phone is also Mobile Web 2.0 capable, which offers customizable, enhanced wireless access to the latest in news, sports, weather and more (subscription charges apply).
The G'zOne Type S comes standard with a location-enabled e911 feature for emergency situations. Activate Verizon's monthly VZ Navigator service and you'll have all the benefits of advanced GPS technology at your fingertips: heads-up alerts, voice-prompted rutn-by-turn directions, local search of nearly 14 million points of interest in the US, and detailed color maps.
Military Standards Testing The GÕzOne Type-S passed all of the following tests, performed in accordance with Military Standards 810F, with all ports (battery, headset and charging) on the phone closed:
The Water Resistance test was performed in accordance with Method 506.4, Procedure I. The GÕzOne Type-S was subjected to this test with the handset open and closed, but with ports closed for 30 minutes on the front of the unit and then 30 minutes on the back of the unit. The test was designed to simulate rainfall of 2 inches per hour with a 40 MPH wind. Result: The GÕzOne Type-S showed no visible evidence of damage or deterioration caused by testing.
The Humidity test was performed in accordance with Method 507.4. The GÕzOne Type-S tested for operation after the conclusion of the tenth cycle. Each cycle was 24 hours and the entire test was performed over ten days. The temperature was cycled between 86 and 140°F with the relative humidity at 95 percent constant. Result: The GÕzOne Type-S showed no visible evidence of damage or deterioration caused by testing.
The Drop test was performed in accordance with Method 516.5, Procedure IV. The GÕzOne Type-S was sequentially dropped in non-operating mode, onto each face, edge and corner for a total of 26 drops from a height of 1.50 meters (4.9 feet). The drop surface was defined as two-inch-thick plywood over a steel plate over concrete. Result: The GÕzOne Type-S powered on.
The Dust Resistance test was performed in accordance with Method 510.4, Procedure I. A temperature of 95°F was used for this test. Silica flour as defined by the test standard was used. Devices are given a passing grade when moving parts are not bound or blocked and if the unit powers on. Result: The GÕzOne Type-S showed no visible evidence of damage or deterioration.
The Immersion test was conducted in accordance with Method 512.4, Procedure 1, with the handset immersed in water for a period of 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter with ports closed. Result: The GÕzOnesuccessfully powered on with no visible evidence of damage or deterioration.

Vital Statistics The Casio G'zOne Type S weighs 5.1 ounces and measures 3.8 x 2 x 1.1 inches. Its 1050 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 203 minutes (3.4 hours) of talk time, and up to 170 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/1900 CDMA frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

1) The exposed buttons cause it to turn on by itself with the slightest pressure. Constantly finding a dead battery as a result.
2) The software is frustratingly non-intuitive...downright nonsensical in many places.
3) Lousy antenna: I can't get a signal in my home. Every other phone I've had got a signal.
It's amazing how Sony has gone from my favorite brand to my least-favorite brand so quickly. Samsung is eating their lunch in TVs, Sony laptop computers are complete disasters, and now they can't even make a phone.

(More customer reviews)This phone is great for a few reasons. It's not too fancy, it's very compact, and it fulfills it's objective with ease. Let me elaborate:
Contrary to it's appearance, this phone is about as light on features, as it is on weight. That, however, is not a bad thing at all, depending on your preference. What it lacks in features, it more than makes up with it's ease of use, battery life, functionality as a phone, and of course it looks pretty good as well. If you're like me, then you don't need all of the bells and whistles of Music phones, Windows Mobile, etc. that you could easily get from a Blackberry or iPhone. If all you need is a phone that functions as that, with the added feature of a Qwerty keyboard for ease of texting, then this phone is exactly that. Not only does it look good, the phone has added features; most of them being call related (Call forwarding, call waiting, hold, conference call).
Although it does have a camera/video camera, and music playing ability, the 1.3 MP camera, as well as the 20MB of storage, limits your ability to do either of these with the greatest of results. Still, convenient nonetheless.
The battery life is above average. 3 hours of talk time, and 240 of standby, makes for minimal charging, and maximum usage. Bluetooth also does not suck the battery dry like most other phones, making it ideal for connectivity with a headset or your bluetooth enabled computer/laptop.
While the good certainly outweigh the bad, there are some negatives to this phone. As previously alluded, the camera is a little low on Megapixels, and the 20MB memory doesn't provide much room for anything. Customization is a little limited as well. It does support MP3 ringtones, but is very selective about the wallpaper. Call quality varies, as well. It can go from excellent to average in an instant, and static at times are to be expected. Never does it get to be bad enough to hinder communication, however.
All in all, a very basic phone, but who needs anything more? Works great as a phone, texting is easy, battery life is very good, and as stated above, it looks great as well.

But: 1) While I am able to make calls, send text, and take decent photographs...the phone will not access the internet via ATT network. I know that if I talk to the right tech people, they can get the software to work properly. But this was just one malfunction.2) The phone only displays the 3-digit area code for numbers that are on the call-log, the phone memory, and the sim memory. It will dial the right numbers and tell you the right names if the number is saved, but there is no way to view all 10 digits.Customer support at Nokia could only offer me a send-in for repair and not a way to instal working software on this brand-new phone. ATT tech guys were stumped; they had not seen anything like this.It's too bad because the 6500c has the perfect design and everything else works beautifully. I would not want to risk ordering another one...I'm thinking that this deal of having problems with unlocked phones is common, based on all of the reviews that I have read for the myriad of unlocked makes and models.Think I'll try to buy a phone at ATT and have them unlock it there so i may travel, if that is possible.

(More customer reviews)I was a little apprehensive in the beginning to get this white version of BB Pearl. I was pleasantly surprised with its looks once I rec'd the shipment. It is a TRUE pearl color and not white or off-white as advertised.
I am new to BB and I wanted a phone that can basically sync with my Outlook. I am used to Windows mobile phones and could not find something I liked when the time came to get a new one.
Using this phone is pretty intuitive. I did not touch the user guide until now. Was able to sync with my Outlook Calendar and Contacts with ease. Call clarity is good and T-Mobile's reception at my work location is surprisingly far better than Cingular. I was not expecting this.
Connection to the internet and the usage of Yahoo Messenger is a breeze. Net speeds are good. Fav-five feature is useful and I can get away with just 300 minutes of talk-time.
It took me about a half-hour to get used to the typing (Suretype instead of multitap). But you need to have confidence in the phone that it figures out the word as you type, though the word looks awfully different from what you want while you are typing - it got it right by the end of the word 99% of the time. Moreover it learns new words as you use it.
I still need to figure out how to get Num-Lock on/off quickly to make it easier to type in just numbers in some cases instead of hitting the Shift key all the time.
The track ball's sensitivity is adjustable but I did not see a need for that. It takes a little bit to get used to but it is easy. I am a little concerned, given its sensitive roll and touch, if it is going to last the 2-year contract period. I am usually not a rough user of my gadgets, so it should be OK.
Finally - Google Maps are awesome!
I know they are not as good as Verizon's VZNavigator on my KRZR, but hey they are free.

Design Like the BlackBerry 7105t, the BlackBerry 8100 Pearl is a departure from the form factor of previous BlackBerry devices. This BlackBerry handset is far more phone-like, and RIM's engineers have managed to fit a QWERTY keyboard onto the handset's slim frame. Each button on the keyboard shares two letters and the unit automatically determines which letter is the intended one based on what it predicts you are trying to spell. This unique predictive text technology, known as SureType, makes the BlackBerry 8100 Pearl's handset's diminutive size possible. SureType also learns the words you use most often, further enhancing your typing speed.
The BlackBerry 8100 Pearl sports a large 240 x 260 screen that supports over 65,000 colors--plenty of real estate to view your emails, Web browser content, messaging sessions, and attachments. The venerable BlackBerry trackwheel has been replaced on this model with an innovative four-way trackball placed below the screen. On the rear of the handheld, you'll find a 1.3-megapixel camera lens, while the handheld's microSD memory card slot is located inside the device, behind the battery. Calling Features All the calling capabilities folks have come to expect in a wireless phone are present in the BlackBerry 8100 Pearl.
