Overall: Great phone with good organizer features and messaging. Excellent form factor and innovative keyboard is very easy to use. Build quality seems very good, although the first one I received had a "Back" button that did not work, a manufacturing flaw. The replacement arrived overnight and is fine.
Pros
- Excellent call quality. First and foremost, the M600 works very well as a phone. I am on T-Mobile.
- NO CAMERA. This was a primary factor for me, as I cannot have a camera phone at work.
- Great form factor. Unlike a lot of Pocket PC phones, this one is small enough to carry easily.
- Multiple input methods. You can use the "rocker" keyboard, which works great, the pop up virtual keyboard, or character recognition. I think that only Sony-Ericsson is still doing character recognition - you simply write on the screen with the stylus and the program types the letters. Way cool. What is a "rocker" keyboard? Well, it's not anything to do with rock-and-roll! Each key has two letters on it, and you push one side or the other to get that particular letter. An "ALT" key supports alternate letters above the normal ones. It is very fast once one becomes accustomed to the letter positions.
- Cool interface. Obviously, the UIQ 3 operating system takes some getting used to, especially after a Pocket PC device. But it looks good and works well. Be prepared for a learning curve. For example, dialing a number is as easy and pushing the numbers - there is not phone "application" such as one finds in the Pocket PC Phone world. However, this is only possible one the main "Standby" screen. In general, this device seems more "thought out" and "integrated" than a PPC. Consider it more of a MAC than a PC.
- Excellent support. Sony Ericsson has a way to send a text message to configure the internet options on the phone. Very painless. It was equally simple to update to the latest firmware. If you get this phone, be sure and get the latest firmware - it allows one to eliminate menu animation, which makes the OS much faster at rendering the menu screens.
- Great battery life. I get 2 to 3 days of normal use. My old PPC got two days at best.
- Support for Java programs.
- Touch screen, which is unusual in a smart phone. Only some games support this feature, but I found a great bowling and pool application that work with the stylus.
- The included games are pretty good, especially the Golf game.
- Includes programs to view and (sometimes) edit Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents, as well as a PDF reader. The feature set is somewhat limited in Excel, and I actually had to change some formulas in one of my spreadsheets in order to get it to edit on the device. It definitely won't do any database statistical functions. If the Excel reader doesn't support any of the formulae in the spreadsheet, it only opens in a "viewer" mode, with no editing possible. For those with a need for complex Excel or Word documents, there is no better device than a PPC - naturally, since MS makes Windows Mobile 5 and MS Office. But the included programs work well enough. There is also a $50 program called "Documents to Go" that has better support, including database Excel functions. I ended up forking over the bucks for this program, and it has been worth the money.
- Includes support for "push" email (like a Blackberry). I do not use the phone for corporate purposes, so I haven't used this feature. It is a separate program that has to be installed.
- Supports POP, IMAP, and SMTP authentication. The inbox will store message headers forever until they are deleted from the server. Once they are deleted on the server (typically by your PC email program), the next time the M600 synchronizes email it will remove the headers. If you download a message there is an option to "delete locally", which deletes the body - but still leaves the header. If you delete the header, it deletes the email on the server. This takes some getting used to. You can schedule periodic automatic email checks separately for each inbox.
- Supports both text messages and Multimedia Messaging (MMS).
- Supports a 2 Mb Memory Stick Micro card, to store plenty of data or music. The card is hot-swappable, on the outside of the phone.
- Integrated video and music player, plus software to transfer songs to the phone. Supports DRM (which can be considered either good or bad).
- Includes backup software to allow one to back up the phones memory to the PC.
- The phone will optionally charge from a USB cable if desired. I prefer to let the battery get to around 20% and then power the phone off and fully charge the battery. It charges very rapidly - around 1 hour or so. A wall charger (European with American adaptor) is included.
- UMTS (high speed internet). This is a 2700 Mhz band used for high speed data in Europe only. BE SURE TO TURN OFF SEARCH FOR UMTS IF YOU ARE IN AMERICA - the UMTS search eats up a lot of battery. The phone can be set to only search for GPRS, which is the slower protocol.
- Includes Bluetooth support, including handsfree. The handsfree works VERY well.
- Contacts can be added to one of nine quick dial buttons, and each contact can have multiple phone numbers and a photograph assigned, plus Email addresses and (in general) just about anything else that MS Outlook supports. Ringtones can be added from MP3 files stored on the phone.
- Voice dialing and answering is fully supported, only in handsfree mode.
Cons
- Tri band. This phone does not support the 850 Mhz frequency used by Cingular (AT&T). It works fine on the T-Mobile bands. However coverage will be best around interstates and large cities. Some people prefer the "Quad Band" phones, which will roam on more networks here in the US.
- No WiFi capabilities.
- NO CAMERA. I know, I already listed this as a "Pro" item, but many people want a camera on their phone. Not on this model! However, the upcoming Sony Ericsson P1 is the same form factor as this phone and includes both a camera and WiFi.
- No EDGE support - only GPRS, which is slower. Think of it as a 28 baud modem, and that is the correct speed. However, WAP sites load fast enough using the built in browser, which loads smaller pictures of websites by default.
- The voice dialing does not include "character recognition". This means that one has to go into each phone number and record the contact information exactly as one will say it to do hands-free dialing. Be aware that voice dialing only works with either the corded or BT handsfree attached.
- No profiles. Most devices have (at least) built in profiles, or customizable profiles. Thus one could set the phone to "handsfree profile", and automatically turn on the BT, etc. This phone doesn't have this feature.
- Unable to customize the main screen. In the M600 this is the "standby" screen, and the only thing that can be customized is how much of the calendar and messaging one wants to display. One can change the five icons across the bottom, but that is it. Coming from the PPC world of Windows Mobile 5, where the entire "today" screen can be optimized, this is a bit of a disappointment. No "plug-ins" allowed!
- Relatively low memory. I have not run out of memory yet, but I am careful to close all applications after I use them. Like the PPC, this device will leave programs in memory, not actually close them. However, it is much simpler to close the programs than on the PPC. The device really should have come with 128 mb, like most of the competition. Note again that the new P1 will have 128 mb of memory.
- The included web browser (opera mini) basically uses up the entire memory of the device.
- The device can occasionally lock up. I have had this happen while adding voice dialing to the contacts, and once when I tried to make a call while the phone was just finished with another call. In each case I recovered by turning the power off and on. It has only happened three times, which is way better than my old WM 5 PPC phone, which locked up and misbehaved all the time.
- VERY tight battery cover. OK, this is a bit picky, and I know they are trying to get good tolerances in their construction, but the battery cover took a LOT of pressure to get off. I finally found that if you hold the phone upside down and use the right thumb at the base and the left thumb at the top of the battery cover, the cover can be removed - but it is still difficult. If you plan to switch batteries a lot, you might keep this in mind.
- The SIM card fits under the battery cover, and is nearly impossible to get out without tweezers. This isn't too big an issue, since 1) you can't remove the battery cover anyway [little humor there], and 2) you seldom switch SIM cards anyway.
- I synchronize my calendar with Outlook XP, and I found that my repeating annual appointments will duplicate in the phone and in Outlook if I connect the phone to the computer while Outlook is already running. So I have to be sure to close Outlook before connecting the phone. I had about 10 copies of everyone's birthday when I realized what was happening. Deleting them was, to say the least, very interesting. I ended up deleting a couple of birthdays entirely and re-entering them.
Summary:
If you are tired of large devices and MS nonsense, this phone is for you. You have to get to know the OS, and the whole point is that it ISN'T that customizable - but it is stable and dependable.

Sony Ericsson W960 Unlocked Triband 8GB WiFi Phone (Black) Review

Sony Ericsson W960 Unlocked Triband 8GB WiFi Phone (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Subject - iphone killer? Let's see
My previous phone was a W810i. That phone had a host of features and amazing interface, great camera, great earphones and an overall excellent value for money. I was sold to Sony Ericsson then and thought no Nokia for me again. I even picked this phone over the Iphone. I have always been the guy who goes for the mid-expensive phones because I lead a mid-expensive life and I know that doesn't make sense so I'll cut it but some of you might get the picture. But something changed and I wanted a phone which would knock dead the usual. I didn't go for the iphone because it's just too popular and everyone in the world is soon going to have it. After 40 days of poking around, I decided to go with my gut instinct and got this little fellow. The W960i stands out because noone has the phone. Not many people know about it and there are little or no advertising. The only place I could find sufficient info on this was C_net and U_tube.
Features -
1. Touch screen enabled device
2. WLAN (upto 384 kbps)
3. 8GB inbuilt hard drive
4. Supposedly adequate RAM or memory for the phone
5. Bundled earphones, various schemes for playlists such as moods, most played, highest rated, etc.
6. Outstanding record/log of calls made in the last 50 days
7. Unlimited number of messages
8. Decent keypad with good text prediction/well tuned software
9. PDF/Card Reader Scanner/Mediocre flash
Pros
1. The touch screen doesn't take much time to get used to. It took me roughly five days to major it and now everytime I hold a non-touchscreen phone or cordless phone, I feel a little strange.
2. Impressive call-logging data. The phone actually managed to maintain records of the last fifty days worth of entry. However it does get difficult to store phone numbers from new callers because that's when the 960i shows it's moodswings
3. Very good sound when listening to it without earphones. Just aptly loud even though the interface is generally sluggish.
4. There is 1 + 1 stylus that come with the phone. Don't play too much hockey with the stylus though. After a while your fingers will be just right to move around and you won't need the stylus except when you're using complex playlist options.
5. trackid is an amazing feature. If you're in a pub and want to know what track is playing, trackid (software name) will record a 6 second sample and send it to the universal server and you will get to know the name of the track, artist and album within a minute (at the most) This is amazing and my friends think this is the sole reason I got the W960i and that is only because they find it so uber cool.
6. Tactile feel and very good build quality though the touchscreen gets ruined without the not included plastic cover/sticker. Exceptionally good build quality.
7. While the 3.2 megapixel camera is quite a disappointment, the zoom no longer ruins the photograph as much. Improved zoom.
8. Wireless works even though the browser is corrupt and buggy.
9. Big fonts when typing a message
10. Ear volume is satisfactory and the phone catches signals well. It is also light to carry.
11. trackid - This phone has trackid. If a song is playing around you and you wish to know the name, trackid allows you to record a sample, within a few seconds of the sample being sent, you will get the name of the song. It all takes much less than a minute.
Cons
1. Most lacklusture ensemble of menu, shortcuts and files
2. Doesn't come with mp4 playback software which means no videos. It still records in gp3 and though the videos were of good quality, video playback software (divx) was very buggy on this phone and never worked for me.
3. Where is the torch? I miss it.
4. Battery life has dismal written all over it. Try talking 3hours and 20 mins on a single charge and you'll remember Jesus of Nazareth. I had to keep reducing the brightness to 19% and what not. 65% is default brightness.
5. The general feel of the menu gets worse every month and it becomes more and more prone to mistakes. To navigate there is a little joystick like navigation button on the left which is annoying and cheap. I don't even use it enough because my friend said his broke for his w950i and his girlfriend's did the same. You can't help but feel cheated because the menu is nowhere near as good as the Iphone.
6. The bundled earphones are same as the ones you get with the other walkman series and there is nothing different. This is annoying because SE are trying to save money and develop a standard and at the same time expect six hundred dollars for this phone
7. The camera is inferior to W810i and there are simply too many shades and blindspots when viewed on my computer. I have to photoshop photographs which are shot in dark light and personally increase contrast. Don't even think of comparing the Nokia N95 camera to this. The iphone camera likes to make images look a little brighter and livelier unlike this nincompoop.
8. The ringtone needs to be better tuned because the phone likes to do a little 8-10 second jig before it starts playing the mp3 you have selected as your ring tone.
9. The card scanner hardly works and the buttons for the walkman (touchscreen) are annoying.
If by this time you are wondering if I'm easy to annoy, then well I am if I feel I am robbed of my money. This phone is clearly the worst disaster and misuse I have made of my dad's hard earned funds.
10 ***BIG FLAW*** If you were to use the earphones on this phone, you will find that the output of the volume is about 35% as loud as the W810i. I simply cannot believe this nor accept it. This major flaw aggrevates me. I have tried different earphones and headphones but they have actually reduced the output volume and they have the nerve to call this a walkman phone. I used an N-Series phone the other day and I am not kidding but it was five times as loud with earphones. Terrible effects if I were to someday take this phone to gym as a stand-alone mp3 player.
11. A free carry case was provided but it is of such cheap quality that i wouldn't use it. The manual was bad.
12. Software for transferring files to the phone is bad if you are a media junkie like me with over 1TB of data. It will take hours to transfer 4gb worth of music to your phone even though individual transfer is high. The software is so buggy and slow though it promises a lot and is achingly confusing. I use good old Disc2phone.
13. You cannot view a message and go to the next without pressing back and scrolling to the message. When you press back it completely refreshes the previous window and you have to scroll all the way to the message you were looking at again.
The W960i has many other flaws but I have spoken about it's major features. It is not a good camera phone. It is not a good mp3 player, a no good one infact. I even tried to attach music systems to this with the 960 being the source and the sound reproduction was just so low, it was no good. You cannot even choose custom-equaliser settings.
Conclusion - Do not buy this phone. The camera is ordinary, there is no torch, the touchscreen is buggy, inbox becomes slow with time, takes a long time to restart, decent voice quality, the walkman sounds nice when on loud speaker but abysmal when left to play on earphones. The keypad is ok, there is no mp4 or avi playback, there is a lag when opening any application which makes it simply unworthy of being given a shot. The battery life is a day's worth and talk time is around 3-4 hours at max. Sony Ericsson is not what it used to be. Definitely not worth buying.
I haven't used the iphone or an n-series nokia or the viewty but if a phone has this many flaws despite the number of features, i just don't want it.

Sony Ericsson Z750 Phone, Purple (AT&T) Review

Sony Ericsson Z750 Phone, Purple (ATandT)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
[EDIT]
Amazon won't let me change my star rating for this review, just the text so here's my change ... DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! What a piece of junk this turned out to be! It randomly shuts itself off and then, most of the time, turns itself back on. There's no rhyme or reason to when it does this either. I can be on the phone, have just ended a long call, have just ended a short call, just starting a call or haven't used the phone for hours. Doesn't matter if calls are outgoing or incoming. When I called AT&T about this problem they told me it must be due to something I did, such as "expose the phone to humidity." I was told that if I used the phone outside on a humid day, then the problem was caused by me and not covered by warranty. I have also met other Z750a owners that have this same problem.
[/EDIT]
Original review:
I was extremely happy to find a purple phone, loved the specs and ordered it immediately. I *love* this phone! The battery life does not, in any way, live up to the specs and has to be recharged more often than I prefer. I'd like to be able to change which options are listed when you open the phone [ie Calls, MEdia Net and Menu] and I'd like a quicker way to access my ring tone files. The external display is really neat, but impossible to read in sun light. Other that those four things, I really love this phone! The phone doesn't come with a lot of ring tones and only has two preloaded themes, but as soon as I got my USB cable, I loaded up what I wanted and it's great. The voice quality is fantastic and I love that it has the option for ring with vibrate. Out of all the phones I've had over the past 14 years, this is the best. Plus, the Sony Ericsson online chat support was really great when I had an issue with the software. I suggest getting the USB cord, car charger and extra wall charger off Amazon instead of from Sony Ericsson or AT&T. I got all three in a package off Amazon for $7.50 total with shipping, compared to $20 each from Sony Ericsson and almost $40 each from AT&T. 3-piece Value Combo Pack of Sony Ericsson K750, W800, D750, Z520, W600i, W550i, Z525, W300i, Z530i, W810 Includes: Vehicle Cigarette Lighter Power Charger with Ic Chip + USB Data Cable + Home Wall Travel Plug in Ac Charger

It also includes a flight mode that lets you keep listening to tunes with the phone's network connectivity turned off.
This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with EDR (enhanced data rate), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. this is the 2nd SE phone after T637, and this phone is just better
using it with T-Mobile, it works pretty well as phone and modem
voice: the strongest part, the best sounding phone I ever used in 6 years, the speakerphone is OK, not so loud
reception: another strongest part, with T-Mobile, it can get some weak signal when all other don't get signal at all; however, the antenna is located at the top back (where the loop is), touching this part will lose reception
operation: typical SE style, pretty easy for SE users, 3 dedicated buttons: web, messaging, task
cam: excellent, even though it doesn't have auto-focus like K750 and K790, it looks pretty good, even it's better than nokia 6270
bt: very easy to use and pair, with pc suite installed, file transfer and sync is just a piece of cake, the transfer speed is 300-400kB, this is the maximum of bt 2.0 speed
screen: the main screen is pretty bright, even I have to set the brightness down, animated standby screen is simply cool; external screen, however, is monochrome (it maybe a plus when using outdoors, the main is barely viewable under sunlight), it display info only, it's a kinda inconveient when doing self-pic
audio player: I seldom use it because it doesn't support ogg vorbis, which I mainly use, streaming audio supports real only, no shoutcast
conclusion: this phone is a pretty good phone for the price, quad-band is a must for Cingular users, fast EDGE modem for web and tethering
score: I give it 95/100, there're some cons
rare memory card (M2), and it's not hot-pluggable
lack of ogg vorbis and shoutcast support
no default USB mode (always asks when plug in, kinda annoying)

Casio G'zOne Boulder Phone, Orange (Verizon Wireless) Review

Casio G'zOne Boulder Phone, Orange (Verizon Wireless)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Verizon broke Casio's phone, but has finally fixed it. A free upgrade to software version 09 or later fixes both the terrible sound quality and the dismal battery life that made this phone infamous. This phone is now much more like its predecessor, the Gzone Type S, but with a better camera
To confirm you have the new software, go to the "Settings & Tools" menu, then "9. Phone Info", then "SW/HW Version", then "Software Version". The last 3 digits should be M09 (or later). You can also check the outside of the box to see if it already has this version--look at the last barcode on the Proof of Purchase sticker.
If you have a Boulder with obsolete software, you must go to a Verizon store (or a very good reseller) and have them perform the upgrade. The upgrade is too big to be distributed over the air. The Boulder I received in December 2008 arrived with the M09 firmware.
This is Verizon's third rugged Gzone phone. They're bigger than most cellphones, but you can actually take it with you in the rain, skiing, hiking, or rafting. Compared to the preceding "Type S" model, this phone is significantly lighter--it feels less sturdy, but in reality the plastic case is probably almost as strong as the Type S metal case. The Boulder also lacks the antenna loop on top that made it easy to attach to a backpack or belt loop.
Based on a week of use, the Boulder's plastic case is much easier to scratch than its predecessors--it's not nearly as fragile as an iPod, but not as indestructible as an all-terrain phone like this should be.
This is a great phone if you don't want to pay Verizon $15+/month to watch video or browse the web. I like the sturdy waterproof design that I can take with me, instead of having to give white-glove treatment to a typical fragile phone. (My last phone, from Motorola, died after getting four feet from a hot tub, even without any water touching it.)
My Boulder battery lasted for four days of moderate use, with EVDO turned off. (To learn how to do this, check out the Howard Forums.) With the software update, this is a good rugged phone for folks who don't want a fragile gadget.

BlackBerry 8700c Cingular GSM Wireless Handheld Review

BlackBerry 8700c Cingular GSM Wireless Handheld
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
8700c has been my first BlackBerry. I got it a month ago right in the thick of the lawsuit. Cingular 8125 came out soon after that which really made me to consider if I should go for the WIFI-enabled, full size keyboard and MS Office compatible Windows Mobile phone. In fact, I did exchanged for the Cingular 8125...for ONE DAY...before I ran back to the Cingular store and exchanged again for a BlackBerry 8700c. (I almost cried happy tears to have my beloved BlackBerry back from the angry sale rep who had to deal with me.)
Why the BlackBerry is the BEST communication solution I have ever used:
1. BlackBerry email is incredible. What can I say? I guess it's hard to appreciate its greatness without testing Seven Sea's Xpress mail, GoodLink or Windows Mobiles Patch. After I tried other options, oh man, no solution works better than the BlackBerry. It's indeed second to none! When you read about the "alternative services," believe me, they are not comparable to the reliability and the ease of use from the BES.
2. Reliability of the operating system. I think this is by far the most important factor. Windows Mobile freezes or becomes extremely sluggish about 2/3 of the time I use it. It pratcially is useless. BlackBerry however is always responsive, stable, and most importantly you can MAKE phone call and RECEIVE phone call ANYTIME no matter you are running a Google Map or what not. (This is not possible on Windows Mobile. Whenever I am doing some CPU-intensive task the phone will just freezes for about 30 seconds.)
3. EDGE is real fast. No more do I need to say about this.
4. The keyboard works like a charm. The keyboard is MUCH BETTER THAN THE CINGULAR 8125 full size keyboard. I kid you not. Why? Because you can a. ONE HAND OPERATE and b. use it on the go.
The full size keyboard on 8125 is big indeed, but after using it for one day I realized its uselessness. Since you have to expand the keyboard on the 8125 and use both hands to type, you MUST place that device on a table in order to hold it stll (since both of your hands aren't free) and type. That maens you basically have NO WAY to input anything-name, calendar, task, website address, etc-on the go. And boys, if I don't use cell phone on the go, I don't know why do I use it for. If every time I do the above task I have to sit down in front of a flat surface, why don't I just get a dang laptop??
So don't get fooled into the "sliding full size keyboard myth" because it's plainly meaningless.
5. It's sturdy and it looks really good. 8125 feels awkward on your hand and big/heavy in the pocket. 8700c however is actually quite elegant.
6. The phone quality is by far the best. I talk when I am driving above 75 mph very often. It has been hard for any phone (Samsung or Moto) to be loud enough for me to hear. I remember using speaker phone on my Samsung phones and put it on my ear in order to hear. But with 8700c, not only its reception is super (much better than 8125), its clarity is great, it's over-the-top loud!
7. Intuitive operation. Oh my God, I finally understood the success of BlackBerry in using it operating system-its ease of use with the thumb. You see, Windows Mobile is made by Microsoft which makes GUI OS like Windows. GUI means the need for a mouse. On PDA it means a stylus and many layers of "folders." Guys, it's practically useless on a phone if whatever you need to do with it, you need to hold it with one hand and take out a stylus to scroll/type. Why? How in the world am I going to do that when I am eating, driving, walking, etc, at the same time as operating my phone? Omg, Microsoft is NOT thinking about this. Who uses his/her phone sitting down in front of a desk? Maybe you, but I ALWAYS use it when I am multitasking--walking, listening to speech, driving, drinking, eating dinner, waiting for a table, watching movie, sitting on the toilet, etc, etc. BlackBerry's navigation works way better than any other device method I have ever heard of. It's simply intuitive.
8. The following functions are not only excellent, they set industry standard by going way above and beyond over its competitors:
a. phone logs. It stores unlimited number of events (missed call, dialed call, received call) per the last 20 contacts. Each event includes time and duration. EACH! You simply have over 3~400 events easily.
b. font. It has wide selection of pleasant fonts of different styles and size. They look grrrreeat.
c. screen. 320x240 is really high resolution for a screen this size. You can arrange the folders and icons on the screen by applying theme and manually hide/unhide icon so that you largely have an empty desktop to show your favorite picture!
b. phone. the dailing, the calling features, are all excellent! It's really easy to send SMS, Email or PIN to anyone on your contact. You can right click on the contact and select one of the following functions-view history, SMS this person, email this person, call this person, PIN this person, etc. Once you click on "Call this person" for example, a menu will come up and ask you which number. It's just so simple yet powerful.
c. the categorization of all your messages (sent and received) in one single box differentiated by icon. It's really a smart idea. Windows Mobile gives you an Outlook style menu tree that has over 30 different folders on its tiny screen requires a style to select each time. Think about it, when you are using a phone to read messages, is it more important to organize it clearly in outlook style (which is designed for the use of a mouse) or in a centralized place where you can simply navigate it by one thumb? Oh my, Windows Mobile is not impressive AT ALL. What is Microsoft thinking? Look at how BlackBerry can do the simple task well.
d. the auto dimming works great! Under bright sunlight the screen lights up ultra bright to acomodate the environment. When it's not too bright, the screen brightness decreases and the keyboard turns off (since the ambient light is enough to see the keyboard), when it's completely dark, the keyboard will light up again while the screen stays dim. (Thus at least three different modes.)
e. theme is very, very pretty. Aesthetically pleasing. Much prettier and artistic than Windows Mobile.
f. I like the airplane mode, the alarm clock (finally loud enough for me) and the expansive options for manual modification.
g. You not only are able to customize the profile (ring tone style and volumn) down to every single type per profile (message, level one message, phone, calendar, browser, task, etc), you can also SET MULTIPLE EXCEPTIONS and ACTIVATE EACH EXCEPTION INDEPENDENTLY!! Exception means you can turn off the vibration/sound completely off in a theatre, but unless this number calls in which the phone will use an overriding profile. So if you are waiting for imporatnt phone call, you can definitely let it get thru. It's sort of a "Do-Not-Disturb" guard and "VIP-only" kind of thing.
In conclusion, this phone is powerful and completely designed for business purpose and business people oriented.

The latest BlackBerry handheld is better than ever with a thinner profile, a huge screen, a more powerful processor, EDGE data support, and more. The BlackBerry 8700c, an integrated phone, e-mail client (with support for corporate email servers), organizer, and Web browser is the ultimate weapon for mobile professionals.
DesignDesign-wise, the BlackBerry 8700c is a nice upgrade from BlackBerry devices of the past. Yes, the same handy trackwheel is present on the right side, and yes, you'll still find a full QWERTY keyboard. This handheld is thinner and lighter, however, and the screen is bigger and brighter than ever; the high resolution 320 x 240 LCD display supports over 65,000 colors. Plus, intelligent light-sensing technology automatically optimizes screen lighting levels for indoor and outdoor viewing. The BlackBerry 8700c also features large, dedicated Send and End keys for easier call management.
The popular BlackBerry user interface is here, too, but it's been updated with a new look. Plus, a powerful Intel XScale processor, 64 MB flash memory, and 16 MB SDRAM combine to deliver a dynamic, highly responsive experience when viewing attachments and graphics, browsing the Web, and running applications. There's also a standard 2.5mm headset jack that can be used with the included headset, and a removable lithium-ion battery is housed in the rear of the handheld.
Calling FeaturesMany of the calling capabilities folks have come to expect in a wireless phone are present, but the BlackBerry 8700c ups the ante with MP3 ringtones. Plus, the built-in speakerphone offers hands-free calling and convenient conference calls. The handheld's Bluetooth capability (version 2.0) means you can use a wireless headset with the phone for hands-free calling. A vibrating alert, speed dial, and a contacts list/address book (limited only by the unit's 64 MB of internal memory) are also included. The BlackBerry 8700c is a quad-band phone designed for global roaming in 170 countries for voice and 90 countries for data.
Messaging, Internet, and Tools The BlackBerry 8700c delivers the legendary BlackBerry e-mail experience. With BlackBerry service plans from Cingular, you can receive e-mails instantaneously from up to 10 e-mail accounts (personal and enterprise). With BlackBerry push technology, you don't need to retrieve your e-mail. BlackBerry devices are designed to remain on and continuously connected to the wireless network, allowing you to be discreetly notified as new e-mail arrives. Support is also built-in for viewing e-mail attachments (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, and PDF formats).
Because the BlackBerry 8700c is fast, and because it supports EDGE high-speed data networks, users can take advantage enterprise applications that are wirelessly enabled by the BlackBerry platform, such as sales force automation, field service automation, network and systems management, and more.
If your company has a BlackBerry Enterprise Server installed, you can also take advantage of the power of wireless calendar synchronization. Your calendar events are exchanged wirelessly and automatically so that your desktop calendar and BlackBerry handheld calendar are synchronized. All your Outlook meeting requests, changes, and updates are instantaneously synchronized instantaneously with your desktop. Make meeting requests, invite new attendees and more, all on your BlackBerry 8700c. Users without BlackBerry Enterprise Server support can manually sync with their desktop calendars and contacts via Bluetooth or USB using the included BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Use the BlackBerry 8700's Web browser to access the Internet from the palm of your hand. Browse Web sites, get up-to-date stock quotes, read the latest news, check weather reports, and more. Wireless text messaging and multimedia messaging (MMS) is also supported by the BlackBerry 8700c.
The BlackBerry 8700c ships with a number of tools, including a calculator with a unit converter and a to-do list. The handheld's software is based on the Java platform, meaning Java-compatible games and applications can be added to the handheld.
Vital Statistics The BlackBerry 8700c weighs 4.7 ounces and measures 4.3 by 2.7 by 0.8 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4 hours of digital talk time and up to 16 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 GSM/EDGE frequencies. The phone comes with a one-year limited warranty.

Nokia N95 Unlocked Cell Phone with 5 MP Camera, International 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with Warranty (Silver/Plum) Review

Nokia N95 Unlocked Cell Phone with 5 MP Camera, International 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with Warranty (Silver/Plum)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have all seen the commercials, we have all read the advertisements and some of us may have even played with the device at our local Nokia store. At a glance, the Nokia N95 appears to be a combination of a few multimedia phones. With the exception of the GPS locator, there is nothing truely novel to this top of the range phone that costs around USD 1,000.
However, there is currently no multimedia phone out there that can squeeze so much technology into such a compact chassis: a 5-Band WCDMA/GSM transceiver, GPS locator, 5 Mega-Pixel Camera with Carl-Zeiss Optics and Auto-Focus, micro-SD card slot, wireless LAN, Bluetooth and Infrared, all in a slider phone package that's smaller and lighter than the Nokia N80.
The camera picture quality is on par with most standard high resolution camera phones, with the exception of the image resolution of course, which is at around 5 million pixel, clearly out-performing the N93, N73 and Sony Ericsson K800i plus every 3.2 mega pixel camera phone currently available in the market. The preset JPEG compression is however too high for my liking (images are normally compressed down to a horrible 600kb), but the quality of the images are generally acceptable for 8R printing. The camera flash is a let down as usual, but useful enough to take close up images in the dark. The VGA video recording feature is nothing to boast about, but useful for shooting impromptu home videos that are at least clear enough to survive editing and transfer onto your DVD-Rs.
The use of microSD cards limits the phone's maximum storage capacity to about 2GB, although I'm hopeful with the phone's incredibly fast response it will be powerful enough to support larger cards (4GB or more) when they finally become available in the market.
Wireless LAN functionality is as easy as any of the N-Series with WLAN capabilities; my only complain with this feature is that it drains alot of power from the weak supplied battery, the BL-5F. Internet browsing with the built-in WLAN out performs every other Nokia model available in the market, even the powerful communicators N9500 and N9300, in terms of speed and user-friendliness. Widescreen browsing is however only useful when an external wireless keyboard is used in place of the built-in numeric keypad.
The performance of the music player on this unit is on-par with those found on the music phones N91 / N91 8GB, having an effective 8 band equalizer with user presets. The bluetooth transceiver supports the stereo headset profile, so you can listen to music in stereo using optional bluetooth stereo headsets. The phone spots a 3.5mm multimedia plug, which allows the use of regular headphones, but the supplied headset allows you to make calls and remote control the music player (play, skip forward / backward, pause, volume up / down, lock) without reaching for the buttons on the phone. The music player software also comes with a few additional software visualization gimmicks similar to those found on Windows Media player.
Going back to the multimedia plug, it is by far one of the most innovative connectivity solution introduced by Nokia to date. A single 3.5mm plug capable of outputting stereo sounds for regular stereo headsets, while at the same time able to interface with a remote-controlled Nokia headset, and output composite video and stereo audio for outputting the N95's screen output to an external display with composite video input and analog audio inputs. The instruction manual warns users against connecting the multimedia plug to a signal output source, which may damage the N95.
The N95: It's a must have for gadget lovers or anyone who enjoys travelling light and doesn't mind parting with USD 1,000 to do it.

Samsung t239 Phone, Red (T-Mobile) Review

Samsung t239 Phone, Red (T-Mobile)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Got this phone a couple of days ago. I love the small, square form factor. Bright clear screen. Easy to use menus. Qwerty keyboard is adequate, though like most, keys are a little small. Design of faceplate with slider closed is clean and uncluttered, gray and pewter are classy, though I wish they'd had some colors to offer. One thing I don't like is that, when you press any button to get the screen to come on (which I often do to check the time, especially when timing my walks) there is about a 3 second delay while a message appears telling me how to unlock the keypad, which is annoying--wish I could turn this feature off. Otherwise good, clear sound, battery seems pretty good so far, navigation keys easy to use.

Motorola KRZR K1 Unlocked Phone with 2 MP Camera, MP3/Video Player, and MicroSD Slot--International Version with No Warranty (Silver Quartz) Review

Motorola KRZR K1 Unlocked Phone with 2 MP Camera, MP3/Video Player, and MicroSD Slot--International Version with No Warranty (Silver Quartz)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Motorola KRZR K1 is a very stylish phone. It will surely impress people. The only thing you need to worry about buying this phone from Amazon is that it may come from another country. This means that an American adapter is included for the foreign plug and the language is in British English, which is not a big deal but odd for people used to Personalize instead of personalise. The phone is extremely shiny because it is made of polished metal and glass. Glass is an odd material for a mobile phone, but looks nice considering how fragile it is. The screen color and resolution are also very nice. Call quality is decent. All in all a 9 out of ten for looks and 8 out of ten for quality.

Snapfon "ez ONE" Cell phone for Seniors w/ big buttons, Loud speaking keypad, so easy to see and use Review

Snapfon ez ONE Cell phone for Seniors w/ big buttons, Loud speaking keypad, so easy to see and use
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am 62 and searched for a simple easy to use cell phone and bought this one about a month ago. I think it is simpler than most, but I would like to see improvement. I hope with their next model that Snapfon will do the following.
1---Leave the Radio and ear plugs off. It is so cheap as to be useless, but we don't want a radio anyway. We want the best and simplest way to talk.
2---Leave off the alarm and calculator. We don't want that either. We would prefer to use our own alarm clock and calculator. Instead of these features use those 2 buttons to simplify the menu.
3---Turn this into a flip type phone for 2 reasons. When we carry it around our neck or in a pocket, it keeps hitting something and activating. Yes we can turn the number off and on, but we can't remember to do that. It is just one more unnecessary thing we don't need to have to do. The second reason for the flip phone would be so that when we are talking we have a phone that feels more like the phone we have had all our lives. One that reaches from the ear to the mouth. Then we wouldn't feel like we were talking to thin air instead of a person. Also I think a very large microphone could be put in the flip--ear part of the phone for better hearing.
I also suggest leaving the text feature off this phone. We DO NOT TEXT----and we don't even want to receive a text. This would also simplify the phone.
Last----simply as much as possible the menu for the things that are left.
I love the big buttons, and the lighted screen. With the above suggested improvements, I believe it could be the best cell phone on the market for seniors and other people who love SIMPLE EASY to USE.
Thanks and I hope to see a new improved model soon.

Sony Ericsson W880i Unlocked Cell Phone with 2 MP Camera, 3G, MP3/Video Player, Memory Stick Pro Duo Slot--International Version with No Warranty (Flame Black) Review

Sony Ericsson W880i Unlocked Cell Phone with 2 MP Camera, 3G, MP3/Video Player, Memory Stick Pro Duo Slot--International Version with No Warranty (Flame Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the first truly tiny and iconic mp3 phone I have seen and used. Despite being alarmed at the size of the keys, I find it easy to use, and gratifyingly small.
I'll attempt to be brief. For the previous 5 years ago, I have had touch screen 3G Motorola smart phones (A920, A925 and A1000), and before that, Nokias and a Palm Pilot.
No longer needing full PDA functionality, I wanted something small (for a change) with strong battery life, which would provide very good music player functionally. I also wanted: speakerphone, good quality headset, plus a tri-band or quand-band for usability overseas. I already have a good digital camera, and didn't want to carry around a phone thicker than my wallet. That meant the Nokia N95 was out of the running, despite the lure of GPS.
The good
*Walkman can be controlled when keypad locked, but not accidentally.
*Great battery life and ultra fast charging!
*Menus are easy to navigate and comprehensive.
*Clean crisp screen and versatile camera features
*Doesn't crash (can you tell I've had a few Motorolas?)
*Handles 3.5 mm headphones
*The noise reducing in-ear headphones with great sound
The bad
*Minimal amount of text it will hold in contacts, notes and calendar entries - its not quite a PDA in that way
*Working out how play lists work was a hassle
*Minimal instruction manuals in the box
Surprises
*How much I use the Blog functionality - I take a photo, type up the text and upload it to my site - very convenient diarising or blogging when on the run
*The ability to auto-stitch photos into a landscape shot
*The music syncing software allows you to specific (ie downgrade) the bitrate of songs being transferred so as to save space
*It copes with a 2GB M2 card despite saying it is only upgradeable to 1 GB
*Its feel very solid.
Verdict
Elegant, small and highly functional - I was surprised as how much easier and better phones can get in just every few years. Worth the change. The in ear noise cancelling headphones have brought my mobile listening experience to a new level.

With all the same robust phone functions, the Sony Ericsson W880i improves on its W800/W810 precessors with a super-slim 0.40-inch form factor encased in stainless steel, improved Walkman 2.0 software, and support for up to 900 music tracks. This tri-band GSM/EDGE phone is also ready to run on 2100 MHz UMTS 3G networks (found in Europe, Australia and Asia), enabling fast downloads and streaming multimedia while on the go. Other features include a 2.0-megapixel camera with 2.5x digital zoom, an M2 Memory Stick card slot, Bluetooth, push email, an Access NetFront Web browser, a speakerphone, Macromedia Flash Lite 2.0 for interactive user experiences with video, audio, and graphics, and more.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity (900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz) as well as GPRS data connectivity. It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.
When paired with a compatible 3G network that uses UMTS 2100 MHz connectivity (found in Europe and Asia), you'll enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless services with speeds up to 384 Kbps--from data connectivity to your office to multimedia streaming, and take advantage of simultaneous voice and data services. In the United States and foreign territories where 2100 MHz 3G networks are not available, you'll continue to receive data service via EDGE network (depending on network compatibility).
Phone Features The W880i follows a long tradition of beautifully designed and crafted phones from Sony Ericsson. The same candy-bar style that graced the W800 is here, as is the horizontally-oriented camera unit on the back of the phone, allowing you to hold the phone just as you would a camera when you're taking pictures. The W880i's screen sports 240 x 320 pixel resolution with support for over 262,000 colors. Quick access buttons below the screen make it easy to control the phone's Walkman music features, while a five-way center button controls most of the phone's menus and features. The W880i contains 16 MB of embedded memory, but as mentioned, an M2 Memory Stick slot is provided, giving you storage capacities of 2 GB and beyond. USB and Bluetooth data connectivity is provided, and the phone supports USB mass storage so you can simply plug the phone into your computer and drag and drop files into the phone's memory using the included Disc2Phone PC application.
The W880i's phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts with multiple entries per contact. A call list remembers your most recent missed, received, and dialed calls. The phone's voice activated dialing makes calling your contacts as easy as saying their names, while the built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Polyphonic ringtones are included and you can also use MP3 and AAC music files as ringtones. A cool application called Music DJ even lets you mix your own ringtones. Meanwhile, picture caller ID lets you assign a photo to specific callers. Similarly, a ringer ID lets you assign ringtones to callers. For those times you want to keep things discreet, there's a vibrate ringer mode. And because the W880i is Bluetooth-enabled, you can use a variety of headsets and handsfree kits for total wireless freedom when you're on the go.
If you're looking for a mobile productivity partner, the W880i has you covered. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, and sound via MMS messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging possibilities. The phone also ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP protocols, while the included Access NetFront Web browser allows you to surf full HTML web sites. Push email is also supported, allowing you to have instant email on your mobile phone, just like on your home computer. Messages are sent directly to your phone as soon as they arrive. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
The W880i also supports RSS feeds, allowing you to use your phone to view up-to-the-minute news and other content from selected Web sites and blogs. Just subscribe to the feed and let it come to you.
A number of handy software tools are bundled with the W880i, including a voice memo recorder, a to-do list, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. The phone also supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, which lets you synchronize your PC-based calendar, contacts, notes and tasks with your W880i.
The W880i is a Walkman phone, and that means it offers a great mobile music experience. Load up your favorite songs in MP3 or AAC format on a memory card and listen to your heart's content. The user-friendly Walkman 2.0 music player application also includes a "Music Mode" that shuts down the phone functions so you can listen on an airplane or anytime you don't want to accept calls. Meanwhile, Digital Mega Bass and stereo widening combine to enhance your listening experience.
And don't forget about that powerful 2.0-megapixel camera with 2.5x digital zoom. Finally, you can get consistently great shots that rival the quality of a dedicated digital camera. The camera can capture video, too. Dedicated camera controls on the side of the unit will make you forget you're holding a phone in your hand. There's even an included application called Video DJ that allows you to edit video footage right on your phone. Make it look great with advanced editing options before uploading footage to your blog.
Vital Statistics The Sony Ericsson W880i weighs 2.50 ounces and measures 4.0 x 1.80 x .40 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6.5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 425 hours of digital standby time. Boost Mobile Handset - i425t Review

Boost Mobile Handset - i425t
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I use the Boost pay as you go plan. I only use my cell phone for around two minutes a day, so the plan is absolutely perfect for me. Texting is 10 cents as well - to send and recieve - which can get surprisingly expensive quickly. If you're a textaholic, go with Virgin's monthly texting plans.
Anyway, the phone isn't great, but it is so better than some of the other entry level prepaid cell phones I have had *points to Tracfone, ATT GoPhone and espically Net10*. I see people complaining that the phone seems easy to break. Here's the solution: Be gentle with your phone! If you can't, get one designed for "rugged" use. And if any of the covers break for this phone, you can get a replacement cover on amazon for around $4.
The screen, yes, it kinda sucks. It's grainy and the colors seem washed out. Does this bother me? Not really. If you're one to look at your phone a lot, espically for web related stuff, stay away from this phone. But if you just need to talk and text (sometimes), it's perfect.
The calling quality is decent, and far exceeds most entry level prepaid phones (I'd definately prefer it to the blue Samsung cameraphone that Verizion's prepaid service uses).
The only issue I really have with this phone is that the button layout is somewhat irritating. The directional pad buttons are surrounded by other buttons that activate various features (see picture), so it's easy to press the wrong thing. But I paid $20 for this phone, so I do not expect it to be without some flaws.
I do like this phone. It's a prepaid phone that I'm not ashamed to pull out and use. Go for it if you just need a basic prepaid phone!
