It is kind of difficult to remove the battery cap and also to remove the sim card. I hope it's going to loose a little bit after a while!
The phone give enough talk time, music time. Of course it's a Nokia!
For some reason, the battery started to worn out very quickly. Mistakes happen but not all this serie have this unusual problem.
It's not the best phone but it sticks with the budget with the essential feature!

(More customer reviews)The Motorola W490 is a great phone....until it breaks. This has happened to me twice and the problem is exactly the same.
After using the phone for 10 or 11 months, the keypad goes haywire. Flip the phone open and suddenly it will start dialing numbers at random or making menu selections, all without you pushing anything. Or you could be in the middle of a call and suddenly the phone will self-dial numbers at random, totally drowing you out with key tones and effectively ending your call.
When this happened the first time, T Mobile replaced the phone because it hadn't been quite a year, so I was still under warranty. Again, everything about my new phone was great....until the very same problem happened again after about 10 months.
So I'm on my third phone now! Since experiencing this problem, I have read other reviews across the Net saying that the W490 barely lasts a year, if you're lucky.
I give it only 1 star because although it's a good phone when it works, it doesn't work as long as it should. Breaking down after just 1 year is pathetic, and to make matters worse, that's exactly when the warranty expires.

(More customer reviews)This phone is great for a few reasons. It's not too fancy, it's very compact, and it fulfills it's objective with ease. Let me elaborate:
Contrary to it's appearance, this phone is about as light on features, as it is on weight. That, however, is not a bad thing at all, depending on your preference. What it lacks in features, it more than makes up with it's ease of use, battery life, functionality as a phone, and of course it looks pretty good as well. If you're like me, then you don't need all of the bells and whistles of Music phones, Windows Mobile, etc. that you could easily get from a Blackberry or iPhone. If all you need is a phone that functions as that, with the added feature of a Qwerty keyboard for ease of texting, then this phone is exactly that. Not only does it look good, the phone has added features; most of them being call related (Call forwarding, call waiting, hold, conference call).
Although it does have a camera/video camera, and music playing ability, the 1.3 MP camera, as well as the 20MB of storage, limits your ability to do either of these with the greatest of results. Still, convenient nonetheless.
The battery life is above average. 3 hours of talk time, and 240 of standby, makes for minimal charging, and maximum usage. Bluetooth also does not suck the battery dry like most other phones, making it ideal for connectivity with a headset or your bluetooth enabled computer/laptop.
While the good certainly outweigh the bad, there are some negatives to this phone. As previously alluded, the camera is a little low on Megapixels, and the 20MB memory doesn't provide much room for anything. Customization is a little limited as well. It does support MP3 ringtones, but is very selective about the wallpaper. Call quality varies, as well. It can go from excellent to average in an instant, and static at times are to be expected. Never does it get to be bad enough to hinder communication, however.
All in all, a very basic phone, but who needs anything more? Works great as a phone, texting is easy, battery life is very good, and as stated above, it looks great as well.

1. Offers T-Mobile 3G on my grandfathered plan, though the coverage is spotty.
2. Nice screen--480x800. Feels good in hand. Nice form factor.
3. Decent sound in speakers after load Pocket Player. Sounds poor with Windows Mobile player.
4. Includes Opera 9.5 browser.
5. Sbp interface included. Quite glossy and graphical interface overlay. But takes work to set up and is flakey at times.
6. Some nice third party software can improve matters, such as Pocket Player, which has better sound and a resume function for audio books. Kinoma also is good and includes Audible integration.
7. The Pharos navigation software has ugly and dated graphics but does include turn by turn directions, and is not dependent on the wireless connection. A 2 gb navigation card in included, but this can be transferred to a card with more more memory. The gps was not as sensitive as advertised, but not too bad--it did pick up a signal in my tree lined street.
8. Is said to be able to be used as a modem. Haven't tried this yet.
Cons:
1. The most non-standard USB headphone jack I could imagine. I thought, at least, I could use HTC or Motorola Razr headphones or jacks. No. HTC jacks will not fit in the phone, and the Motorola USB jacks yield no sound. This is quite an outrage.
2. A close second for bad--Windows Mobile. The level of frustration which this OS presents is incredible at this stage in mobile development. It takes days to try to set up the phone to work in some reasonable way. The OS is slow and the stock programs are poor. The browser is bad--Opera is much better. The Media Player is horrible--the sound, compability and functionality. It will hardly play any videos. The freeze ups are common--many times per day with constant use.
3. A close third for terrible--the keyboard implementation. The biggest problem--if you touch the on-screen keyboard even a millisecond too long, you get multiple character entries. After using the iPhone, this is very annoying. Also, although it includes a nice sbp keyboard, it pops up inconsistently.
4. The touch screen functionality is poor; it is either too sensitive (selecting what you don't want) or not sensitive enough.
5. The accelerometer is flakey, being delayed in switching between landscape and portrait or flashing back and forth.
6. The jury is still out, but battery life seems very poor.
7. Many programs don't work--Mobipocket for books (a shame with the big screen); the divx player; and many others I tried to load.

(More customer reviews)Why are all BlackBerrys so expensive? Why can't we get the latest model in a reasonable price? The BlackBerry Bold was $299 with a two-year contract when it was first released on the AT&T network. The new Tour is $199 (with mail-rebate ) in both Verizon and Sprint. The Curve 8900 is $149 in T-Mobile -- still a little too steep for some people. Lower end users rejoice! Here comes the new Curve 8520! This new addition to the BB family has a new design and some introductory features, at an affordable price from T-Mobile.
What separates this phone from others of the BB family is the new optical trackpad. Instead of a trackball, you use the trackpad to navigate, scroll and click on the contents of your phone. It's similar to trackpads found in the new MacBooks and some netbooks, and it is similar to the Storm's click-touchscreen, and it's quite easy to use. In fact, it is better than the trackball, in my opinion, because it moves faster and it's less likely to break or skip applications on you. It only took me about ten minutes to get used to it and so far I'm loving it. The 8520 also sports a new look. It is mostly made of some sturdy plastic, with rubbery edges and side-buttons, and with music buttons on the top of the phone for easy access to your entertainment. This new BlackBerry seems to be marketed for multimedia phone lovers as well as smartphone users. You get a bit of both, for this BB still has its useful business functionalities. The QWERTY keypad is easy comfortable to type on, no much change there. T-Mobile offers WiFi for faster Internet speed as well as making phone calls through that network (instead of using your minutes). All you have to do is be at a WiFi hotspot to take advantage of this useful and affordable feature.
As good as the Curve 8520 is, there are some downsides to it as well.
*A mediocre camera. It has a 2 MP camera with no flash. A big downgrade from the Curve 8900 and the Tour 9630. If you like to take good pictures, this is not the best camera phone for you.
*No 3G network. But we already know that T-Mobile doesn't have 3G in most of the country yet, don't we? (Kind of obsolete if you ask me. Especially since other carriers like Sprint are already announcing the long-awaited 4G network.) You'll have to settle for EDGE speeds if you're nowhere near a WiFi hotspot.
*The phone's overall look is below par to other BlackBerrys. It doesn't feel as luxurious or as sexy as the Bold, Storm, Curve or Tour. It kind of looks like the older BlackBerrys, actually, especially the frost-colored one. I guess that's what you get for paying less for a smartphone.
*The screen resolution isn't as bright as the Bold, Storm and Tour. The WOW factor is cut shorter in yet another cool feature. It's no big deal, but it's disappointing nevertheless.
That is all I can think of at the moment. You may take the good with the bad when you decide to buy this phone. However, for the price it's more than just great. You get it for $129 if you go to the T-Mobile store, or you can get it for even less if you buy it on this site or take advantage of any of the other promotions available in stores like BestBuy or Radio Shack. It is so hard to hear that you have to have the thing burrowed practically halfway into your ear in order to hear what is being said; if there is any ambient noise at all you pretty much have to put the thing on speakerphone.
The buttons are iffy too, they do not always "take" when you press them. When I answer a call, it's like rolling a dice: sometimes it goes to the "call in progress" screen, sometimes to my contact list, sometimes to the "save new contact" screen etc etc. If you are calling anything that requires touchpad input (phone menus and so forth), whatever numbers you push remain on the screen after the call is over, you have to push the hang up button a second time to clear them out.
The one good thing about this phone (which cost me $30 without a contract, btw -- not sure where amazon got the $199 figure it's currently showing, there's no way this thing would ever cost that much) is that it can go for almost a week on a single charge.
This phone works for me (barely) because I just don't rely heavily on cell phones in general, even for work. If I did I would throw this thing away in a skinny minute.

Samsung Behold II t939 Android Phone (T-Mobile) Review

When it came time for me to upgrade my phone I went to the T-Mobile store and tested every Android phone they had (the Cliq, Behold II, G1, and MyTouch). None of them were particularly jaw-dropping, but the Behold II has the best hardware by far. The camera is great and the screen is bright and crisp. With the screen brightness at 9% it's brighter than my iPod Touch at 50%.
My issues with the Behold II are with its software. Samsung decided to overlay Touchwiz on Android which can be a resource hog and doesn't allow for as much customization as a stock Android build. Also, the cube interface is a neat trick, but it's pretty useless and I never utilize it. It would be nice if there wasn't a dedicated button for it or if you could at least re-assign said button. It's not a dealbreaker, it's just a bit of a head-scratcher.
I ultimately chose the Behold II over the others because its issues are software based so when Samsung upgrades the phone to Android 2.0 the performance issues should be resolved (hopefully) and this will be the best phone that nobody is talking about.
UPDATE (5/28): I've had this phone replaced twice in the last 3 months due to software AND hardware issues. I figured I would stick it out because the software issues would be fixed once the phone upgraded to Android 2.x. However, Samsung has since decided that they will not upgrade this phone past 1.6, meaning all of the cons listed above will remain. There are MUCH better Android phones available, and I would recommend to cans and string over this POS.

(More customer reviews)My first Amazon review. Let me say this. I've owned a couple of Blackberrys in the past, and although I enjoyed them I am a mac user which means I could never fully enjoy all the features like the music player.
When the Iphone came along I bought it as soon as I could (Leaving Tmoble to do so), and I loved it. Still do actually. I don't understand how many people say things like "the iphone sucks". Really? What does it take to please some people? Some flaws, sure, but finally there was a phone that not only was designed FOR mac users, but also raised the bar for all the other companies. Many of the coolest features on other phones are a response to the iphone.
With ATT my phone bills went up on average 40%, and the customer care was horrible. They suffered a bit from the "you're on contract so what you gonna do" syndrome. That coupled with the fact that as a Mac User there weren't a ton of smart phone options, so I was stuck.
Then I found the Curve 8900!
With all the New Blackberry's there is finally some real competition, which is a good thing for Mac users. It finally seems like other companies realized that MAC people are some of the largest and most loyal consumers of electronics, and it doesn't take much to make us feel included.I couldn't use the CD that came with the phone on my computer, but I just hopped on the web and did some downloads and now I can use all the features on my Macbook, including itunes syncing and photos. Which is great because the camera is awesome.The only thing is you need the newest OS on your mac to use the software from the website, but if you don't have that you can also download Pocketmac, which works pretty well.
I find the browser works great, and if you don't like it you can download another if you want. Opera mini is pretty good too. I just like being able to choose for myself, which is something I couldn't do on the Iphone. The Iphone is still probably the best web surfing phone on the market in my opinion, but the Curve is still great! I mean there comes a point when you may as well just crack the Laptop if you are going to do hardcore surfing. That being said, I still go to all the same websites and it is just as fast as my iphone was. The smaller screen means WAY better battery life. I still charge it every day, but this phone has made it two days on pretty heavy use, and you can actually change the battery if you needed to which is a real plus.
Expandable memory is a huge plus! I've got 16 Gb in mine now.
Blackberry just launched there own App store, that is much like the one found on the iphone, so now I have all the same things I had before on my iphone like Pandora, and Shazam.
Going back to Tmobile was an easy choice too. My wife is with them, and the customer care has been great. And the plan they have me and my wife on is cheep! I actually unlocked my iphone and gave it to her and now she is running it on Tmobile much cheaper, and because I had the 2g Iphone I actually think the data is faster on Tmobile. Also the Curve switches to make calls over WiFi (on certain plans) saving you minutes. That feature is so seamless you wont notice the switch.
Yeah, yeah. Some people say things like, 3g is a must for me. But let me say this. Lots of people are whiners who don't know what they are talking about. The Curve has a fast processor, and great WiFi capability, and it is super fast. Call quality is great.
It's also less fragile then the iphone. Touch screens are glass and I actually smashed my first iphone by dropping it from two feet. YIKES!
The Curve also feels more professional to me. I can do Word documents on it, and although I can still play games and surf the web, I do less of the time wasting I did on the Iphone. You know what I mean? The usless surfing like "Hey, whats the tempurature in Australia?
All up I am very happy with the switch. If I had to pick a con, I'd say that the locking on the phone is a bit of a pain. It can become unlocked in your pocket, but that was solved by putting a password on my phone.I just hate picking cons because these phones are so great now a days!
I also loved the Iphone, but the price and AT&T was getting to me! A little competition keeps them all working harder to for us the consumer.

(More customer reviews)This is my first review ever. This is also the first time I have ever ordered something from Amazon that was not what I expected.
The phone does work. It was also new, as stated. Works fine. This does not appear to be a US version though.
1.) The included manual has a table of contents going up to page 100+... The last page of the manual cuts off at page 80-something. It also says in the back to contact Motorola-Asia for assistance. Not a deal breaker, but this may indicate the level of detail of the seller.
2.) I say this does not appear to be a US version because I have two (2) used U.S. Razr v3's in my briefcase right now and this is just not quite the same. This seems it might be a U.K. version.
My 2 previously purchased US versions do NOT have the extra button above the wheel/pad. This seems to be the only visual distinction...which results in...
No such things as "missed calls" on this phone. It is classified as a Received Call, but either has a "check" or "no check" next to the entry seemingly indicative of it being a missed call or not.
Speed dial assignments (1 though 9) are 4 digit values (1001 through 1009).
Cannot lock Smart Key on phone exterior.
No light illuminated when charging.
"Center" is spelled "Centre"
Installed graphics are not even remotely the same.
Doesn't seem that time will auto-set.
Doesn't even use the same battery part # as my 2 other U.S.-purchased phones.
That is why I do not believe this to be a U.S. Version phone as stated.
I am not very happy about this. I am going to seek to get this resolved. This is why I purchased this from Amazon because I believe they will make this right.

At just over a half-inch thick, the Motorola RAZR V3 is the perfect combination of sleek design and powerful features. An impressive quad-band GSM phone (great for global travelers), the RAZR V3 includes a VGA (640 x 480) camera, Bluetooth connectivity for communication headsets, dual LCD screens, video clip playback, and up to 7 hours of talk time.

BlackBerry Curve 8320 Phone, Titanium (T-Mobile) Review

(More customer reviews)The feature that differentiates this from other Blackberries is UMA - unlicensed mobile access. In contrast to the AT&T Blackberry 8820, this T-mobile 8320 allows one to SPEAK over wifi. The 8820 can only use wifi for data.
It roams seamlessly between wifi networks and EDGE/GSM networks without dropping the call. I started a call from a Starbucks wifi network and walked out of its range. The phone switched over to the GSM network without dropping the call - no problem. I then walked into my office where there is wifi, and the phone switched over to wifi.
A few interesting points:
- Calls made over UMA (ie. wifi) are much clearer. They sound like an landline phone, not a walkie talkie.
- T-mobile bills you according to where you *initiate* the call. So if you start a call at home over your wifi and then walk out, you still don't get minutes deducted from your plan.
- The UMA HotSpot@Home add-on to your T-mo contract ($20/mo unlimited UMA talking for all lines on my family plan) also includes access to Hotspots at all Starbucks Cafes and airports. I didn't need to do a thing. As soon as I get near a Starbucks, the phone finds its Hotspot wireless network and latches on.
- I have significantly decreased the amount I spend monthly on voicetime by using a MyFaves family plan ($59/mo for 1000 whenever minutes) because all calls over UMA and all calls on to my 5 selected MyFaves numbers are not deducted from that plan's minutes.
- Tmobile gave me a free wifi router ($50 with a $50 rebate) that has been optimized for UMA voice. It firmware has been set up so that the UMA (VOIP traffic) is prioritized.
- I am SO dumping my Vonage line now. Vonage's voice clarity and reliability is nowhere close, and Tmobile's customer service is fabulous in comparison.
- I live in NYC and I recall when the cell networks went down on 9/11 due to overload. One comforting thought is that this phone will not die in times of network overload that since it can work on a completely different network (ie. wifi routers connecting to regular ISPs, which kept working on 9/11).
I'm a believer.

(More customer reviews)I bought this phone because it was free with an instant rebate. If anyone out there is looking for a deal I would recommend shopping here in Amazon. So far I haven't had any problems with using the phone. If you are looking for a compact smartphone I would recommend the BB Pearl. The only downside I have is the small keypad but you get used to it afterwards. My plan with T-mobile is also far more cheaper than when I was with Verizon.
