(More customer reviews)This is one awesome little phone. First of all the screen is the brightest and most detailed I have found on any phone. In the store it is so bright it just screams at you. I have found that reducing the brightness to 70% is more than adequate. If you have trouble reading a phone in direct sunlight, fear no more. As for features, there are just too many to mention. I first learned about it from the Toyota website as I just bought a Prius. It is one of the VERY few phones that will integrate seamlessly with the car. It can even upload its phone book via Bluetooth to the car. Most phones (except smart phones/PDA's) will not. They are also 3 times the price. It has a great sounding MP3 player. It is stereo Bluetooth, FM radio...I could go on and on. There are some great themes free online so you can customize away. If there was one gripe it would be that it doesn't come with an M2 memory card which it needs if you are going to load up on music and photos. I can't complain though as this phone is very affordable. Some complaints I have heard are that the number keys are too small. Well, I'm 6'2" and about 280lbs. (not a small guy) and I don't have any problem getting my fingers to work the buttons. The other complaint I have heard about is battery life. Well I have talked and talked and played with this thing for 3 days now, and the battery is still more than half. I'm not sure what people think is good, but after my RAZR...pffft...this thing is great. My techie coworkers were amazed by the display and all agreed that it was unbelievably bright. I would recommend this jewel to anyone who wants a great phone that has a lot of cool features. It blows away the Samsung SCH-a737 and the LG Shine. Go to a local AT&T store and play with one. Then buy one at whatever outlet suits you.

Sony Ericsson Z750 Phone, Pink (AT&T) Review

(More customer reviews)I've had my phone since I upgraded at the end of July. At first glance it seems like it's a fancy phone. However, I was able to use my previous cell phone as a flashlight, because the backlight stayed on for 3 minutes. This Sony Ericsson Z750 phone has no backlight. The screen goes black within 10 seconds if you are not actively using the phone. I don't use my phone that often; but, I have to charge it about every second day. If you use your phone a lot, you might want to invest in a car charger.
The main feature that I like is that there is no camera button anywhere on the outside of the phone. So, if you're like me and carry your phone in your pocket, you're not going to end up with a full phone memory from the camera taking pictures of the inside of your pocket.
I don't use the phone for anything but a phone, so I can't provide any information about any of the other features.
I don't think the phone is worth paying full price for it. If you can get it with rebates, you might find it worthwhile. I recommend trying it before committing to buying it.

Pros:
- Crystal-clear calling. No static and loud when needed.
- The screen is amazing. The resolution is awesome. By far the best I've ever seen on a phone this size.
- This phone is tiny; in a good way. Super-slim and tucks nicely in your pocket. Being that it's a slider, you'll never have to worry about pocket-dialing. :)
- The software is very easy to navigate. This is nicely improved over the Motorola interface of my older RAZR.
- The MP3 player rocks; no pun intended. The Walkman software lets you sort by Artists, Albums, Tracks, Playlists and more. This is light-years ahead of the my old RAZR's MP3 player. This one rivals any standalone MP3 device I've used.
- The stereo headphones that comes with it include a 3.5mm adapter. While the included headphones sound great, this adapter gives you the flexibility to use your Bose, Shure or other stereo headphones. A very nice option.
- Carbon grey and anodized blue color is slick; nothing else like it. The back side of the phone, when in the up position, is where the anodized blue metal is. Amazon doesn't show a photo of it. It is stunning.
- Unlike "some" other sliders, the camera is protected and kept under cover when the slide is closed. This works great in keeping dust off the lens.
- The 2.0MP camera is actually pretty good. It takes great outdoor photos.
- I LOVE the fitness/step counter. It measures distance in steps and calculated miles along with the calories you've burned. It also keeps a daily average and each days results.
Cons:
- No 3G
- Sony Proprietary Memory Stick Micro M2 versus easy to find and less expensive MicroSD
- No LED Flash or Photo Light
In conclusion, if you are looking for a super-slim phone with great call quality and superb music capability, look no further. This Sony wears the Walkman name with pride.
UPDATE 9/27/07: I bought a SanDisk SDMSM2-4096-A11M 4GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) and it works perfectly. 4GB of music!!!

(More customer reviews)I was up for a two year contract renewal for ATT and for months now I have wanted an iPhone but I've waited for the 3G, or at least the second generation, iPhone... my trusty SE s710a was still good but I figured if I have to sign a new 2yr with the iPhone anyway, why not get a free phone out of it?
After looking at the lackluster selection of phones by ATT, I was captured by the style of the w580i. So I figured I would give it a try... and I am not regretting it a bit!
This phone is much smaller than the monster I had before, and unlike older SE phones, the UI is very snappy. If you read most online reviews, they speak the truth. The keypad is small but after a little while you get used to it. T9 is much improved over my previous phone.
The camera is OK, nothing special. But it's better quality then the iPhone!
Call quality is superb. Feels comfortable in your hand during prolonged periods of time. I have had many friends say that the sound quality on their end is much improved over my previous s710a. The loudspeaker on this can get LOUD but it's good that way!
The Walkman function on here is killer! I works sort of like an iPhone's in how smoth it functions. There's a dedicated WKM button, anytime you need to go to the app, click it and you jump to the WKM program, click it again and you go right back to where you were!
The sliding function has been solid so far, only time will tell if it lasts. The keys have been reported to crack easily- one reason I'm not discarding my s710a yet... we'll see. But that's not a reason to not buy this phone. I love it to death right now and it will deffinately hold me over till I get a 2nd or 3rd gen iPhone!
BTW the SanDisk 4GB MemoryStick Micro M2 card works perfectly fine with this phone. And since the phones memory is only about 14MB, it's DEFFINTELY worth the extra cost to get one.
UPDATE 02/2008: After using this phone daily for several months now, I am still loving it. The walkman is somewhat solid, and file transfers from the phone and a iMac is smooth. Pictures look good, especially in daylight- night shots are very unimpressive.
I hate the the ATT Internet button on the front. Both shortcut buttons are not re-assignable, so every time i click that button it tries to connect to the internet, which i disabled... very annoying. But nothing to keep me from recommending this phone for the price you can get it with,
Constuction has been holding up. The plastic is clicking a little, but I think it will be OK. The screen is amazingly crack/scratch resistant.
Phone call quality isnt as stellar as I first said, but much improved over the s710. I think real flip phones still have better phone quality. Real flip phones also have a much worse UI, which for a texter is more important.
4GB Flash card works without a hitch. Still my phone of choice to hold me over till iPhone 2.0, sometime in Summer/Fall 2008

BlackBerry 8820 Phone (AT&T) Review

(More customer reviews)I've been with AT&T for the past 5 years and I must say that I've never had a complaint in regards to their coverage in my metropolitan area (VA/DC/MD). I had an Audiovox SMT-5600 for the past two years and thought that it was time to upgrade, especially since I'm out of college and working in a company where Blackberries are utilized.
After some research and testing out the BB 8320 Curve from T-mobile, I decided to stick with AT&T and buy this 8820. I must say that call reception everywhere is superb, in most cases almost like a land line. This edition of Blackberry is really targeted more for business users than the casual consumer - AT&Ts BB 8310 would be a good fit if you seek a more robust offering of Instant Messaging applications.
My main reasoning to get this was emails - personal and work. Even though my company does have a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) that pushes emails out to all BB users, they only reimburse VPs and Directors for the data/email plan. AT&T has several Blackberry service plans. The highest being the BES plan that costs about $45/mth. Since it wasn't super critical to acquire 'push' email for me, I went with their Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) plan that costs $29/mth. This plan permits you to pull email from 10 ISP based email providers such as Gmail, Yahoo and even Hotmail. The good news is that I have found a way around to pull work email, even though I didn't go through their BES plan. All you need for setup is the availability of browser based email access. By this I mean Outlook Web Access (OWA) - you have to have access to a site like "https://mail.yourcompany.com/exchange". If you are able to check emails outside of your company through OWA (not VPN), then you will be able to sync with your BIS plan. Keep in mind that there is a lag of 5-10 minutes for emails to come through to your phone vs. the instant push that the BES plan affords you (outgoing emails though are instant). For me, 5 minutes is absolutely fine so I am real glad with what I have now. My other POP3 email accounts get pushed instantaneously.
The BB 8820 is Wi-Fi enabled so you are able to connect to any open/secure wireless access point to surf the net and/or use BB Messenger. Unfortunately the HTML browser supplied with this device is pretty poor, it looks more like WAP because most of the content is stripped out by Blackberry's proxy servers. I myself did download Opera Mini and use that occasionally to look up info while on the go - its fairly better than RIMs browser. I do also want to mention that since this is really targeted for business users, the availability of such IM Apps such as AIM, Gtalk, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ etc. do not come installed with it - you can download Ramble IM and Gtalk seperately. It also does have GPS enabled so you can use this while driving - the service is provided by TeleNav and the monthly cost for unlimited usage is $10. I myself have not tried it yet. You also are able to play music and videos by expanding your memory with a separate microSD card. This is a quad band phone (850/900/1800/1900mhz) so you are able to use this overseas - just need to activate International calling before you leave.
I must say that the BB UI is well thought out, kind of like the Sidekick I had many years ago. It's very easy to navigate around the RIM O/S and customization is also great. The battery lasts for a good long time, even though I don't call alot but email more. The keyboard layout is also well designed as I've never had any issues in writing emails - getting to the point where I don't have to look at most of the keys in order to type.
A few minor issues that do bother me a bit is that reaction time is somewhat slow with this BB. When occasionally I attempt to scroll with the trackball it hangs for a second or less - this is a minor annoyance, but still an annoyance at that. Also one pretty big issue I noticed with PDAs/Blackberries is that the alphabet that is normally superimposed on regular phones is not present here. So if you happen to dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (free 411 folks), you really would need to know what numbers the letters 'GOOG' correspond to. I read that on the older BB 7000 series you could get around this issue by going to the address book and dialing from there - this is not an option here unfortunately. Also the phone itself is a bit bulky as I've noticed its weight in my pant pocket - maybe using the supplied holster would alleviate some of this. One other shortcoming is the lack of 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) connectivity as most PDAs these days have it - looks like RIM is avoiding this on all their models for some reason. Lastly, one major drawback on this phone is that while on a phone call, you are not able to send/receive email and if you happen to be surfing the net any incoming calls will direct to voicemail (though the new voicemail icon does appear). This restriction is due to AT&Ts EDGE/GPRS (2.5G) data infrastructure vs. their other PDA phones that are based on UMTS/HSDPA (3G). When and if Blackberries adopt the 3G standard, simultaneous voice/data exchange will be possible.
All in all I must say that I am very pleased with this phone - I surely would not choose any other phone/email device. I highly recommend this.

Pros:
- Crystal-clear calling. No static and loud when needed.
- The screen is amazing. The resolution is awesome. By far the best I've ever seen on a phone this size.
- This phone is tiny; in a good way. Super-slim and tucks nicely in your pocket. Being that it's a slider, you'll never have to worry about pocket-dialing. :)
- The software is very easy to navigate. This is nicely improved over the Motorola interface of my older RAZR.
- The MP3 player rocks; no pun intended. The Walkman software lets you sort by Artists, Albums, Tracks, Playlists and more. This is light-years ahead of the my old RAZR's MP3 player. This one rivals any standalone MP3 device I've used.
- The stereo headphones that comes with it include a 3.5mm adapter. While the included headphones sound great, this adapter gives you the flexibility to use your Bose, Shure or other stereo headphones. A very nice option.
- Unlike "some" other sliders, the camera is protected and kept under cover when the slide is closed. This works great in keeping dust off the lens.
- The 2.0MP camera is actually pretty good. It takes great outdoor photos.
- I LOVE the fitness/step counter. It measures distance in steps and calculated miles along with the calories you've burned. It also keeps a daily average and each days results.
Cons:
- No 3G
- Sony Proprietary Memory Stick Micro M2 versus easy to find and less expensive MicroSD
- No LED Flash or Photo Light
In conclusion, if you are looking for a super-slim phone with great call quality and superb music capability, look no further. This Sony wears the Walkman name with pride.
UPDATE 9/27/07: I bought a SanDisk SDMSM2-4096-A11M 4GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) and it works perfectly. 4GB of music!!!

Pros:
- Crystal-clear calling. No static and loud when needed.
- The screen is amazing. The resolution is awesome. By far the best I've ever seen on a phone this size.
- This phone is tiny; in a good way. Super-slim and tucks nicely in your pocket. Being that it's a slider, you'll never have to worry about pocket-dialing. :)
- The software is very easy to navigate. This is nicely improved over the Motorola interface of my older RAZR.
- The MP3 player rocks; no pun intended. The Walkman software lets you sort by Artists, Albums, Tracks, Playlists and more. This is light-years ahead of the my old RAZR's MP3 player. This one rivals any standalone MP3 device I've used.
- The stereo headphones that comes with it include a 3.5mm adapter. While the included headphones sound great, this adapter gives you the flexibility to use your Bose, Shure or other stereo headphones. A very nice option.
- Carbon grey and anodized blue color is slick; nothing else like it. The back side of the phone, when in the up position, is where the anodized blue metal is. Amazon doesn't show a photo of it. It is stunning.
- Unlike "some" other sliders, the camera is protected and kept under cover when the slide is closed. This works great in keeping dust off the lens.
- The 2.0MP camera is actually pretty good. It takes great outdoor photos.

(More customer reviews)UPDATE (12/8/2008): I NO LONGER recommend this phone. I have had it for 1 year, 2 months now and during that time I have experienced several quality issues. While one of them (the ear speaker died) may have been isolated to my unit, I also had my keypad crack twice. This seems to be a common issue with this model, just search online. I had to send in the phone twice for warranty repairs, but my warranty has run out. Now, the left soft keys have stopped working. Another search revealed this to also be a common flaw, which can be resolved by pushing on the area between the navigation keys and the LCD screen (where there is either the W logo or the at&t logo).
The bottom line though is that this phone has some serious quality flaws and therefore I do not recommend purchasing this model anymore. I would change my rating to 2-stars since the phone is still a very nice slider design with excellent software/interface.
I will leave my original review below if you would like to read it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------I am a fan of Apple's products. But since I'm locked into a T-Mobile contract, I did not join in on the iPhone frenzy. Yet, I was in need of a good phone with a decent camera. I was impressed by my friends' different Sony Ericsson phones, so I took a trip down to the Sony Style store and checked out the models they had there. Among the models, this one stood out immediately thanks to the slider design. I was hooked. The interface for the phone is very nice to use BUT it does take some getting used to if you're switching from Samsung, Nokia, or Motorola. For example, if you're used to green and red phone keys, this phone does not have them. But several days and many mispresses later, you should get the hang of the interface. The call quality is pretty good; not perfect though, as sometimes the person on the other end sounds muffled. Then again, they could be holding their phone too close to their mouth. But no one has complained that they couldn't hear me, which was common w/ my previous phones. Bluetooth works very well with the phone; I've been able to sync with both my windows and mac computers. With mac, iSync (under Mac OS X 10.4) does not support this model but you can Google for a plug-in, which worked perfectly for me. I have tested the walkman feature, which is quite good. The only catch is that you have to use the handsfree dongle to connect standard headphones. The most interesting feature is that the phone counts the number of steps you make in a 24-hr day, and had an application to analyze how many miles you have walked in a day, etc. It's pretty neat, but I think it may be inaccurate. I walked what I counted to be 100 steps, but the phone counted 120. You can calibrate the function, though. Finally, regarding the design of the phone: you may notice in the picture that the phone is not straight, and sort of curves in the bottom. This curve is actually helpful for sliding the phone open with one hand. But it does not really get in my way when I keep the phone in my pocket or on a desk, in case you are worried about that.
Overall, this is a great phone and I hope it will last me a while. I'd highly recommend this phone, regardless of if you're already a Sony Ericsson user or you're switching, like I did.

Bluetooth voice recognition is not reliable: The unit takes a "memory set" on the first voice command. The only action that clears the first voice command is: turn the bluetooth device off, allow the W300i to disconnect, turn the bluetooth device on, then allow the W300i to reconnect (the bluetooth device is a Jabra hands-free). Another quirk is its inability to recognize more than three voice commands - even though several more are stored. The single button speed-dial assignment does not work either.
The MP3 ring tones work great from the MicroSD memory card - I had a 16GB card in mine.
One of the problems with this review process is the inability to separate customer service from product performance.
I raised this rating to from 1 star to 4 stars to reflect the excellent vendor support I received from UnlockedCellPhoneKings. They worked well with me in getting this phone exchanged for a better model.
The W300i IS NOT recommended. UnlockedCellPhoneKings are recommended.

- The screen is amazing. The resolution is awesome. By far the best I've ever seen on a phone this size.
- This phone is tiny; in a good way. Super-slim and tucks nicely in your pocket. Being that it's a slider, you'll never have to worry about pocket-dialing. :)
- The software is very easy to navigate. This is nicely improved over the Motorola interface of my older RAZR.
- The MP3 player rocks; no pun intended. The Walkman software lets you sort by Artists, Albums, Tracks, Playlists and more. This is light-years ahead of the my old RAZR's MP3 player. This one rivals any standalone MP3 device I've used.
- The stereo headphones that comes with it include a 3.5mm adapter. While the included headphones sound great, this adapter gives you the flexibility to use your Bose, Shure or other stereo headphones. A very nice option.
- Unlike "some" other sliders, the camera is protected and kept under cover when the slide is closed. This works great in keeping dust off the lens.
- The 2.0MP camera is actually pretty good. It takes great outdoor photos.
- I LOVE the fitness/step counter. It measures distance in steps and calculated miles along with the calories you've burned. It also keeps a daily average and each days results.
Cons:
- No 3G
- Sony Proprietary Memory Stick Micro M2 versus easy to find and less expensive MicroSD
- No LED Flash or Photo Light
In conclusion, if you are looking for a super-slim phone with great call quality and superb music capability, look no further. This Sony wears the Walkman name with pride.
Note: I bought a SanDisk SDMSM2-4096-A11M 4GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) and it works perfectly. 4GB of music!!!

Sony Ericsson shakes things up with its new quad-band W580i Walkman phone, introducing an innovative "shake to shuffle" feature that randomly chooses another song stored on your phone with just a flick of the wrist. This thin, slider-style phone also features a 2-megapixel camera/camcorder, fast Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR connectivity with music streaming, Memory Stick Micro expansion, Web browser for viewing full Internet sites, email access, an FM radio with RDS, and EDGE data support.
AT&T Service The W580i operates on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks and can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's EDGE network (which stands for "Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution"), with availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. This third-generation, high-speed, mobile data and Internet access technology is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go.
The phone has a built-in web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing.
