(More customer reviews)Like many people out there, it seems, I was looking for a successor to one of TracFone's most common phones, the monochrome Nokia 1100. TracFone's lineup has diversified somewhat over the last few years, with phones that range from the minimal Motorola W260g Prepaid Phone (Tracfone) to the robust Samsung T301G Prepaid Phone (Tracfone).
The LG 410 is closer to the lower end of TracFones than the higher end. There is no Bluetooth, no camera, only one built-in game, and no apparent way to add any more. TracFone's data service is 2G, runs about as fast as yesteryears 56K modem, and is limited to a few TracFone sites -- no web surfing here. Of course, people don't buy TracFones for exotic features; there are plenty of other cell companies that offer smartphones and broadband data plans. People instead buy TracFones because they are one of the only cell phone plans available for under ten dollars a month. TracFone is a dirt cheap option for people who only need cell phones once in a while, and for those looking for a basic phone to get the job done the LG 410 is a solid, affordable option.
Owners of older TracFones will be pleased to know that this is certainly a less embarassing phone to carry around than some of TracFone's older models. It's compact, sleek, and has a nice, bright color screen. All the basics for making phone calls, like address books and speakerphone capabilities are here. Calls sound good and the phone has good range. Just as importantly for infrequent TracFone users, the phone holds a charge for a long time. One small but appreciated feature is the phone's external display, which shows time, battery charge, and signal strength when the phone is in its clamshell position. The only serious nitpick I saw specific to this phone was the rather flat button surface, which makes this a less-than-ideal choice for texting. Given the clamshell design, though, this may be unavoidable.
Overall, this is a pretty solid phone, especially for the price, which is about fifteen bucks at the time of this review. Some retailers currently have a bundle for that same price that also throws in a car charger, a hands-free microphone and ear bud, and double minutes for life. Even without the bundle, current TracFone users who transfer their minutes to this phone will get an extra two months to their service, which essentially makes this phone a free upgrade. If you're an occasional cell phone user who just wants a reliable phone to make calls every once in awhile -- and who doesn't care about Bluetooth or other bells and whistles -- this is a great option.

It's sleek and feels good in my hand. I had a T-mobile Motorola V195 prepaid phone before receiving this one, so I just pulled the SIM card from my old phone and placed it in this one and called T-Mobile to register this phone with my account. The camera works great! The sound is clear and the screen is very large and colorful. I am so glad I bought this phone. Just beautiful!

To keep your mobile number active, refill within 90 days after your minutes expire. After 90 days, your account will be canceled and you will lose your phone number. If you want to restart service after that time, you will need to activate new service.
Phone Features The RAZR V3 has a large 176 x 220 color display with 262,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover, and a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display on the outside that can display pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone.
The RAZR V3's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts, while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. Nokia 2610 Phone (T-Mobile) Review

(More customer reviews)I got this phone for use with my T-Mobile pre-paid plan. It is so hard to hear that you have to have the thing burrowed practically halfway into your ear in order to hear what is being said; if there is any ambient noise at all you pretty much have to put the thing on speakerphone.
The buttons are iffy too, they do not always "take" when you press them. When I answer a call, it's like rolling a dice: sometimes it goes to the "call in progress" screen, sometimes to my contact list, sometimes to the "save new contact" screen etc etc. If you are calling anything that requires touchpad input (phone menus and so forth), whatever numbers you push remain on the screen after the call is over, you have to push the hang up button a second time to clear them out.
The one good thing about this phone (which cost me $30 without a contract, btw -- not sure where amazon got the $199 figure it's currently showing, there's no way this thing would ever cost that much) is that it can go for almost a week on a single charge.
This phone works for me (barely) because I just don't rely heavily on cell phones in general, even for work. If I did I would throw this thing away in a skinny minute.

1. The BLACK phone I wanted to purchase, I am told had some quality issues and that they would give it to me in pink, I am a male. They gave me an option to get another phone but the phones were not of the same quality.
2. They sent me an e-mail which I replied to and said OK, because my phone died and I needed one right away. After waiting a week I called them back and they said I never replied. So the person at Kusho had to look into it. And the day's go by.

(More customer reviews)I've owned Virgin Mobile for my last 3 phones. I even have their oldest model in use (my son). The Cyclops is a great addition to the line and is an affordable camera phone as well. One of the biggest complaints of Virgin users in the past was the low ring tone. I used to have to set my phone on "high and vibrate" just to hear it. That's definitely been fixed. The phone has a great range for volume settings. I could also transfer my phone number and BALANCE when I purchased this phone. That was welcome surprise, especially since these don't come with any contract. Because I use my phone so little, it actually costs me about $7 a month when I 'top up'. In addition, the Cyclops phone has free evenings and weekends. Wow..what a bargain! I really recommend this phone to just about everyone, especially those with kids. It's a great first phone at a great price. The Virgin line also comes with a pre-paid bag to send in your old phone for recycling. I've had great customer service, btw...even on Labor Day.

(More customer reviews)I've had this Motorola Trac Fone for about 6 months and have been very pleased. It has excellent reception and sound quality. The built in speaker phone is also very good. The camera is just so-so, but that's not why I bought the phone.
I like buying my minutes only as I need them and you just have to purchase more within 90 days. When you purchase more, it just adds them to your current balance. If you don't purchase within the 90 day limit (a countdown is always visible on the screen) the phone shuts off and you lose whatever minutes you had. You can reactivate just by purchasing more minutes but you don't regain any you lost by not purchasing within the 90 day limit. You can purchase minutes on line at Tracfone or set up your phone to purchase. Your minute balance is also always on the screen. Mine came with 15 minutes to get me started. You can activate at the Tracfone web site and set up an account to buy more minutes. You can also call from the phone to activate and set up an account to purchase minutes that way.
Good things:
-Inexpensive to purchase (less than $30)
-Reasonable rates. I'm paying about 10 cents per minute
-Automatically doubles minutes for life of phone (buy 60 get 120)
-If you lose it, buy another, call Tracfone operator to transfer your number and minutes
-Bright clear screen
-Good sound quality
-Good reception
-Good number of ring tones and images to select from
-AC Charger is included
-FM radio included (earphone not included and it takes a micro plug, not a mini)
-Basic games included
-Internet access (but slow)
-Periodic email offers from Tracfone for discounted minutes (which double)
-Monthly plans if you want them
-Good battery life (I do not use the phone often so 1 charge will last several days)
-Minutes never expire as long as you renew within 90 days
-No contracts or agreements. Tired of it? Toss it.
-Sim chip, you can move to another phone and keep your address book
-Settings for indoor/outdoor ring
Bad things:
-No holster/case (buy one at Target)
-Somewhat larger in size and a little heavier than most cells
-Ring tones downloaded only from Tracfone site
-Cannot connect to PC/laptop (port is only for charging)
-Buttons take some getting used to, like the menus
-You pay for everything, no free or unlimited (3 text messages = 1 minute)
-You will receive free advertising from Tracfone but occasional advertising from others, if you accept the message, you get charged for it. (charge is about 1 text message)
-Charging port and earphone port (opposite sides of the phone) are difficult to open. I can't quite get my fingernail under it so I have to use a small pen knife
I'm very pleased with the phone and service. I dropped my other service and have been happy not to be billed every month for minutes I didn't use. I'm not a strong user of cell phones so it fits my life style. I have service wherever I travel, including remote areas. Your carrier will depend on your part of the country. We have AT&T here.
I may buy another for my wife who doesn't like cell phones but I'll feel better knowing she can call if she needs to. I can buy 60 minutes (120) for $20 and she's good for 90 days. When it gets close I'll just order the minimum again.

Kyocera Marbl Prepaid Phone (Virgin Mobile) Review

My teen rarely uses his phone, but it gets the job done and "never" needs charging. I charged the new Marbl and left it unused and closed overnight and in the morning the battery was low and the phone could not be used. I thought about exchanging the phone until I saw all the CNET reviews complaining about lousy battery life. I returned the Marbl and will wait till something better comes along.

4595 3G Mobile Broadband Modem Review

(More customer reviews)Great idea. Wasn't sure it would work well. Needed to be able to use a modem in a variety of countries, with a variety of local cards, to avoid the incredibly high data costs that US carriers tend to charge when you're using cellular data services outside the U.S.
The Zoom unit is solid. Nice simple design.
It's a little tricky putting the SIM card into the slot - after you take off the back cover, you have to carefully position it so it will slide under a thin metal band. But you eventually get the hang of it.
Unfortunately the AT&T voice/data card that I use in my smartphone didn't work in the Zoom modem. I couldn't connect with the network. I called Zoom tech support several times. The Zoom tech support people were helpful, but this unit is really new - they admitted that they haven't gotten a lot of calls on it yet. I finally talked to "Dennis," who said that you have to get a "data only" SIM card from AT&T. Unfortunately the reps at AT&T say there is no such thing - that you can only get a data SIM if you also buy a PCMCIA modem. Called tech support back at Zoom and they said you can get one if you go to an AT&T store. I was getting tired of the AT&T runaround, so I checked T-Mobile online.
It turns out T-Mobile has an unlimited data plan for $39.99/month. Went to the local store with my laptop and my Zoom modem, signed up for the plan, and got the SIM card. Didn't have to get a contract, or buy a modem or phone. Plugged the card into the Zoom modem, and plugged the Zoom modem into the laptop. Bingo. It downloaded pages faster than my cable modem - tough to believe, but true.
The Zoom software is nicely designed. It shows you your usage rate, in case you're watching your megabytes. Makes it easy to receive SMS messages - which comes in handy when you're registering on the T-Mobile site, for example. We'll see how this works with local SIM cards in other areas of the world, but so far - thanks to T-Mobile - this is pretty encouraging.
Update, June 2011 - Still chugging along. The T-Mobile plan is now $49 a month, which may or may not be related to ATT buying T-Mobile (sad). In any case, this thing works beautifully with all SIM cards so far, and gives me almost-cable-speed wireless in a variety of settings. The software is elegant and intuitive. One note - when you remove it from your computer with the power on, first disconnect it from the network, then go to the Z icon in the system tray, right-click, and hit "EXIT." THEN you can "remove the hardware" using the remove hardware icon in windows. If you don't do it this way, you can get the blue screen of death due to IRQ interrupt conflicts.

(More customer reviews)For anyone considering the purchase of this (or another) Virgin Mobile phone, do not be influenced by the identical negative reviews posted for several Virgin Mobile phones by someone calling himself "lookout guy." I cannot comment on the month to month plans, having only been a pay-as-you-go by-the-minute guy since I got my Virgin Mobile phone over two years ago. I can tell you that lookout guy is totally WRONG in terms of any "hidden fee" in terms of the by-the-minute service offered by Virgin Mobile. There is NO $1.50/day fee; if there was, no one would choose this option because it would end up costing more than a monthly plan. (Duh.) I can confirm that you only pay for the minutes you use. If you don't use your phone for days (even weeks) at a time, you pay nothing. The ONLY charge for having access to a Virgin Mobile phone on the by-the-minute plan is the minimum top-up charge (supposedly $20 every three months but after you become a customer you can get it down to $15 every three months if you choose auto top-up with a credit card). So if you NEVER use your phone, that's what it costs. Of course, you would simply end up accruing money in your account to be debited when you do finally use your phone. As long as you use your phone minimally (for emergencies and for very brief, occasional conversations only), you'll pay only $5-$6.66/month. I oughta know -- my balance keeps growing and growing because I rarely use my phone; if I were being charged a $1.50/day "access charge" I would know it.
Only you can decide if a pay-as-you-go plan such as this is suitable for you, but here's the quick math: if you know you will use your phone at least five minutes per day almost every day, then this plan isn't for you as it would cost you $37.50/month for only 150 minutes of use based on 25 cents/minute. If, like me, you are likely to have many days where you don't use the phone at all and other days where you use only a few minutes (with rare days that you use over 10 minutes), then this plan will be a bargain. (I used to be a Sprint PCS customer and ended up paying, on average, $1/minute for my calls because of my minimal phone use -- in other words, over four times as much as my Virgin Mobile minutes cost at their highest rate.)

Now on to this phone, which I just purchased earlier this week: I definitely like this upgrade to my K7 Rave phone. The color screen is nice and the entire phone looks sharp. Swapping phones was easy, though I didn't get the text message from Virgin indicating that my new phone was active as the customer service rep indicated. Instead I just tried the phone out after a few hours and discovered that it had, in fact, been activated.
Reception seems pretty much the same as my other Virgin Mobile phone (good but not excellent).
I'm enjoying the Virgin Mobile X-Tras and have downloaded a few files for wallpapers/screensavers as well as some ringtones from my favorite Comedy Central shows. These downloads aren't cheap (10 cents per day just to access Virgin X-Tras and then typically $2-$3 per item downloaded), but I had so much money built up in my account that I figured I could splurge for a little while.

The Samsung A137 is a simple and easy to use cell phone for beginners, everywhere. It is simple to setup and use for all your everyday needs. It is a easy to work cell phones that run on 5 hours per charge, and works very nicely. You can use it by all your everyday calling needs, or for texting your friends on the go. The clarity of your calls is crisp and clear for all your calls. You can also recharge your service easily through your credit cards, or by buying easy to use pre-paid cell phone cards at your local convience stores. Still, I would honestly refer AT&T's Go Phone plans, because they're the least expensive, and easiest to understand for those who want a cell phone, but want the price to matter too.

(More customer reviews)I have to say, after owning the Wildcard for 1 1/2 years(and oh boy, did I suffer), I am thoroughly impressed by the XTC.
The XTC has a crisp, large screen. The resolution is marvelous, it takes very nice pictures in medium to bright light, and the fonts, program design is very attractive. You can set it to three different themes- the black/red Virgin Mobile color combo, white, or black. I use the black and it looks so amazing.
The keyboard takes some getting used to, but after inputting all of my contacts from previous Wildcard phone, I am loving the keyboard layout. I love how the "back" key is at the right bottom corner. The keys are decent sized, easy to press, and the keys are really responsive. Plus the design looks very elegant and functional.
The sound quality is also MUCH better than the Wildcard. In fact, I'd like to say that I am absolutely pleased with the earpiece sound quality and volume, and the speakerphone volume and sound clarity. I loaded a couple hundred songs onto the micro SD card, which I popped into the XTC, and playing back the music was actually very clear and pleasant, even when I playback heavy rock songs.
Overall I find the XTC to be very functional, slim, well-designed, and my only fears now are my fingerprints smearing the glossy screen or accidentally dropping the phone because I've been using the phone so often.

(More customer reviews)I have used quite a few Pre-Paid phones before and i have to say that the i855 is the best for the price.This phone doesn't play Mp3's and it can't record or playback videos but it does take pictures.The i855 isn't jam packed with all the entertainment features of the more expensive phones but what it does,it does very well.The i855 has nation wide Boost Walkie Talkie which allows you to talk to any Boost Mobile or Nextel customers for only $1.00 a day.There is a web browser that loads pages pretty quickly and lets you view most mobile web content without any problems.This phones web browser is a bit better than earlier Boost Mobile phones.It also has Multimedia messaging which means you can send & receive Picture,Text and voice messages.This phone is Java enabled which lets you play the latest 3D games and use applications like Gps navigation.The call quality is very good and the external speaker is clear and loud so you can hear it even in a noisy area.The screen is a bit larger than older Boost Mobile phones and it's very bright,clear and colorful which makes it great for playing games.It has a clamshell desighn and also has an external blue LED display that lets you see who is calling before you answer it.There is a "Smart button" on the top of the phone that lets you connect to the last person you talked to quickly which works very well with the Walkie Talkie function.You don't even need to open the phone to use the Walkie Talkie,just press the "Smart Button" and you will see the persons name on the external display,then press the PTT button and you are instantly connected.Just talk into the external mic while holding the PTT button and you don't even need to open the phone!Very nice feature.I like the i855 very much but i have to give it 4 stars instead of 5 for one reason.When i first got the phone i noticed that all the Java apps didn't work at all.Even the Java download apps didn't work which meant i couldn't even download games or other applications over the air.I had to buy a USB cable,hook the phone up to my PC and re-install the Java download app.You can find this iDEN Download Apps Utility on the Motorola Website.I must say that if you are using Windows Vista you will need to run this app in Windows XP Service Pack 2 mode to get it to recognise your i855.Otherwise you will get an error message.After fixing the Java issue i couldn't be happier with this phone.If you are looking for a well made pay as you go cell phone that doesn't cost a ton of cash,get the Boost Mobile i855.
