(More customer reviews)I bought this phone as a replacement for my Nokia E51 business smartphone. I know this choice sounds odd. I just accidentally dropped my E51 in water and needed an inexpensive phone I can use before I can get a free upgrade from AT&T.
This phone is slim and build quality is good for the price. As for the low call/speakerphone volume, you can actually increase it (and it gets really loud). I assigned the "volume" function to one of the keys (Settings > My Shortcuts) and now can adjust the volume (even while you talk). Reception is above average.
What's not so good about this phone is its grainy low resolution low color depth screen. It reminds me of one of the first phones I had back in the early 2000s. And of course, its basic functionality and lack of many features. However, if you need a phone to make/receive calls, this little phone is right for you.
UPDATE!!!! There is another thing about this phone that annoys me much - you'll get a lot of dust and other particles between the screen and screen cover. Considering the screen is already far from being perfect, this makes it just the worst phone screen ever. Giving it two stars not four.

(More customer reviews)I must echo other online reviews about this phone. It shines... and basically that's what it does.
This is a phone about fashion. And thus, I believe it's geared towards fashion concious women.
I'm a middle aged male and I enjoy the shiny look and appreciate the elgant metal that covers most of the phone (so much that it's not just an "accent").
I also appreciate the good sound of the MP3 player and the autofocus of the 2 Megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach Optics (whoever they are).
Therefore, I bought it for my wife. BUT I didn't notice that it didn't work on her operator's band, so I'm stuck with it.
As a middle aged male who's looking for more function than form, this beautiful phone just doesn't work for me, and here's why:
1. The scrolling wheel is not responsive enough.
2. The keys are awkardly placed. Reaching for the bottom row is uncomfortable, and the send and end keys are not where I expect them to be.
3. Also, there's not much tactile feedback to notice the separation between the keys (so you must be able to look at the phone when dialing). Try texting fast with it...
4. The interfase software is not great. Very basic MP3 player.
5. Love the autofocus... Hate the autofocus! It's great that you can get the camera to focus on things 1 inch away from the lens. Great to take a good pic of a business card or any other stationary object. Bad if you try to shoot a moving target, because it takes at least one full second to focus. It just won't work because there's such a delay (at least 2 seconds) from the moment you press the button to the moment the picture is taken, that you get either blurred pictures or the events you want to picture have already passed (and gone). You can't shut down the shutter (no mute, can't change the sound either). And where's the ZOOM??? Couldn't figure it out: Volume keys don't do it and scroll wheel doesn't do it either.
6. Shine! Really, I had never experienced such a frustrating thing as trying to use this phone in sunlight. It's near impossible. It REALLY is that bad.
7. Bluetooth connection has not happened smoothly. I haven't been able to send pics via bluetooth to my BlackBerry Curve. And when I connect the ear piece to the Shine, the ear piece loses all settings and stops connecting to my BB (so I must do the whole pairing process again). I had a Nokia before and I could connect my ear piece to both phones simmultaneously without a problem (I'm not saying I could have two conversations at once, but I could receive a call from any of the two phones at one time).
8. Reception is not good
9. Scratches easily all over; fingerprint magnet
10. I drive a lot. I LOVE voice dialing. Where is it?
11. The loudspeaker is so underpowered that the speakerphone function is close to useless. I love speakerphones because I can multi-task with both hands free.
So, if you're someone who expects a cell phone to be more functional than a basic $10 household phone, maybe this one's not for you.
If you want to shell $200 for a great looking phone that only works as a phone (and not the best at that), that's your call. You can alwas look at it as a piece of jewelery (or get one of those gold plated phones with diamonds and rubies).
I'm fine and happy with my BlackBerry Curve, thank you. Even if I still have to get me a better camera.
Two other words of advice:
1. I bought an unlocked phone imported from I don't know where. Thus, be sure to check connectivity with your operator first! Tri-Band means the phone works on any of 3 bands... make sure your operator has one of them.
2. My primary language is spanish and the phone I got seems to be an asian version. Thus I can only choose between english and a bunch of asian languages (vietnamese, chinese, simplified chinese, etc.)

Also this phone does not have a micro sd memory slot even though the description says it does. Also sync this phone to a PC is challenging, you need to install the software several times to get it to work. If you just want to use it as a phone it is a great phone but all the extras don't work unless you buy a Verizon phone.

(More customer reviews)This is an initial review of the ROKR E6, as I only had it a couple hours.
The phone so far seems great, only minor points of improvement. The first thing anyone should know is these phones are initially for the Chinese market and when you get the phone and turn it on, everything is in Chinese. To get the phone into English requires navigation to the setup menu and changing the system language setting from its default of Chinese to English. Remember, everything is in Chinese so a little educated guesswork of using the interface is in order since you cannot read anything. It is also not covered in the instruction manuals. Once you get this first detail out of the way, everything becomes much smoother.
The phone I upgraded from was the RAZR V3, and this I must say is much better a phone, it too early but I not seen the problems I had with the RAZR, shutting off and rebooting, etc when you are trying to make a call.
The ROKR E6 is a linux based phone, but you would not know it when you turn the device on. If you wish to get the Linux command line, you have to go hunting for the terminal emulation program for it. I've not found it yet.
One nifty feature is the handwriting recognition, having been a Palm user, I had no problems adapting to it, there are some differences in the handwriting recognition versus the Palm, but they should not pose a problem for experienced users. The recognition setting comes initially set to slow, I switched it to medium but it still is slower than my stylus skills, so I might have to set it to fast and see if that improves it rate of recognition so I can not have to wait between writing one letter before writing the next.
I've paired it with my Palm TX and my Plantronics Voyager 510, without any problem. However, I've not seen the option of dropping the bluetooth connection with the device and the handset. As the device is new I assume I've not located it yet. It would be a cumbersome deal if one has to turn off bluetooth completely when you do not want to use the headset.
The bundled applications are all basic when it comes to PDA functionality. So if you are a power user you will quickly be looking for third party applications to fit your needs. I bought it because it is Linux, so I will be looking for a couple items myself, especially a programming language interpreter. Something others will not need, so this is just a personal need.
Taking photographs with it is pretty easy. However, I would not use this to replace my digital camera, the shots while good, lack a flash for dark areas when using it, and is slightly blurred, nowhere near as good as my Canon digital camera.
The good side of having this device is not having to walk around with my Palm, a cell phone and a digital camera. This device can serve all these functions. Yes, not at the same level of features and proficiency but very well adequately for one's daily needs.
One feature, I do wish it had was Wi-fi/802.11g capability, so that I could use it to connect to the internet and sync with my home network. A feature that should be looked at seriously, rather than having it available only on the very high end expensive phones.
The phone does not come packaged with a case, so that will be the other item you will start searching for after you get this phone.
I read a review once that the menus are too small to navigate with your fingers, I have found it to be false and most options and menu items can be easily be fingered.
So in conclusion, lacking the time to tell how worthy this phone is. You will get a phone that is impressive, feature rich, and can serve multi roles adequately. Only time will tell how reliable this phone is.

The Motorola set up for us with no problems. We inserted our sim cards and we were good to go. We've had the phones for about 3 months now and have had no problems. A charged battery lasts sometimes up to 4 days. Texting is easy and the screen and keypad work well for people who need glasses. It goes online easily and quickly and games download with no problems. Maybe we've been lucky, but so far this phone has out performed the Shadow hands down!

(More customer reviews)I have this phone for about a week now. Overall, it's not bad. You can dial/type either with the touch screen key pads or use the full keyboard. Texting is so easy now. This is one of the few phone with full keyboard where you don't have to purchase the data plan! It can connect to your computer via bluetooth, but i haven't try that yet.
Now, the not so great things: 1) I haven't been able to find away to turn of the 3G. Doing so will extend battery talk time. So for now, I have to charge it every other day based on average use. 2) It is a bit heavier than what I would like. 3) Being a new phone, not much assessories are available yet. I'm still waiting a car charger and a stereo headset (not bluetooth). 4) Camera is a bit weak, but i don't really use it so that's ok.

(More customer reviews)I wanted a basic clamshell phone WITHOUT a camera and all the bells and whistles, but one that afforded good volume, good quality and not made for children. I found it all in the Nokia 2660. A sleek, modern looking phone without the side buttons that are so annoying to take a picture when you dont want to (or need to at all!)or turn the volume down by accident. The volume switch is the main toggle inside used during a call. Not as inconvenient as that may sound. The clarity is wonderful, better than the Pantech I am still on contract with, that's why I got the unlocked phone(simply insert your old SIM card to achieve all your old records from the former phone). I would rather spend the not exorbitant price that good ol' Amazon offers for the Nokia 2660 than continue using that piece of junk.
The fonts are also made for variation, and older than 20-somethings: large is very large and medium and small also work well. The only time I get any static at all is if the caller has me on hold Muzak and I have the loudspeaker cranked up to it's highest setting. Again, No big deal. It also featues an FM radio which is handy with their earbud headphone system. Works well considering it's a phone. ALso. it is Bluetooth enabled. Nice amenities for a "basic" phone.
Takes and keeps a charge for days without running out, and recharges quickly. Clarity on both sides, calling and receiving, is excellent. Volume for someone who is slightly hard of hearing (Baby Boomer report!)is adjustable as I said but needn't be at the highest setting to hear well.
Also this is an American phone - no problem with International or no warranties as with some unlocked phones and no international characters on the keyboard. Just plain English letters and numbers. Tho you have preferences for other languages on the menu if needed.
Had a question on changing my SIM card and NOKIA customer service was very patient and helpful, staying on the phone till I fixed the problem (my ignorance only). Thus, customer service is reliable.
AS usual, AMazon.com delivered at lightning speed and I have been very satisfied with both companies and my camera-less, basic but sleek, cool looking phone, the Nokia 2660. I would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a camera-less phone.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this phone to replace a worn-out Razr that I've had for a few years. I love my Razr; it's the perfect phone for someone who does not need a fancy iPhone, Blackberry, touchscreen, etc. I expected a completely brand new phone, unlocked, direct from the manufacturer.
The phone was locked (it needed a code) and had a "Refurbished" label. T-Mobile and Amazon could not help me so I called Motorola. I provided the MSN and IMEI codes (one-of-a-kind ID numbers assigned in the factory) from the phone, and he said the codes were not in the database, meaning the phone had been sold by a carrier or refurbished.
I asked Amazon for a replacement. The replacement phone did not have a "Refurbished" label and did not ask for an unlock code; I inserted my SIM card and made and received calls. However, the phone has AT&T logos, screensavers, browser links, etc. While it was technically unlocked, it was not what I expected. The next morning, all the keys and buttons stopped working. The phone was a complete dud after less than one day of use.
This time I asked Amazon for a refund. I guess I could ask for a third phone, but I'm sick of this and I found a much better price and warranty on the exact same item at another retailer.
This page does not state that this phone may be refurbished, may have carrier branding, or may be locked. In my experience all of these things were true. Two different customer service representatives told me that every time they send me a replacement, it is from the same batch that Motorola sold them so it may have the same problems as the phone I'm returning.
Bottom line: Amazon admits that, when you order this item, they don't know if you will receive the product described on this page.

Had it fixed only to discover the earpiece didn't work either. The battery only lasted some 56 hrs in standby mode, not the 250 advertised. 3 weeks later the sliding feature didn't work anymore, the keypad didn't automatically lock itself up, all my incoming calls were being rejected (had to call EVERYONE back, it was costing me a fortune) and the battery at that point only lasted about 36 hrs standby mode and, beleive or not, about 30 min talk time. Plus, it won't open some of the images and ringtones I had on my micro SD from my old Nokia. Right now I'm asking to return it and a refund.

(More customer reviews)After loosing the phone (samsung 807) which came with my cingular contract, I was on hunt for a cheap, nice phone with not many internet features. Because the guy who stole my phone made huge bill using internet.
After searching for a while I fixed on w200i. And after using it for a week, I am very much satisfied. The good points are
1) Walkman player on the phone is very good. Sound quality is very good with the included earbuds. Also the included 128MB memory stick is sufficient for ~20 songs which is nice, but I want to upgrade it to 2GB stick.
2) FM radio is good
3) Voice dialing. I like the implementation of voice dialing on this phone better compared to samsung D807.
On D807, there is no user control on how a contact is to be pronounced. Based on stored conact's name, the phone assumes a pronounciation. Since names are not standard english words, this always leads to wrong assumptions.Also being from India, my accent is different from American accent. And for me,it never worked on D807 satisfactorily.
On w200i, you can record a sound and associate it with a contact. Whenever you pronounce the sound, the associated contact is called. This way I can use the correct sound for the name and also I can use nicknames. This is much better and for me more natural.
4) Sound volume is good & clear. Unlike D807, I don't have to press the phone to my ears.
5) Light weight and looks cool
6) Limited internet features. This phone comes with no net browsing facility and limited data features. This way I don't end up with extra bill for using internet, after inadvertently pressing some button (many phones I saw have the important buttons associated with internet). This is good for those like me, who don't have/want data plans.

(More customer reviews)I don't expect cell phones to do everything but make me some waffles, so I am not as much of a "I want it to do everything perfectly for no money" like the other reviewers.
I have not had any battery life problems. I work for a hospice and receive text messages and calls all day long and it takes 3 days for the battery to wear down with my boss and coworkers calling and texting me all the time, and it only takes 2 hours to charge up.
The internet is much faster on this phone that it was on my old Moto Razr. It works a lot better. The phone is overall very fast--you click a button it moves instantly, there isn't any lag.
I like the keyboard--it makes texting much easier, which in my case is necessary since I respond to so many text messages from work.
Now for what I do not like about this phone. It is a pain to end a call. You have to press the end call button twice to end a call. This should not be the case--I want to touch the end call button once and have the call end. Just like all the other cell phones I've owned.
The picture quality with the camera is surprisingly pretty good. The only bad part is that the camera is hard to access and it is very easy to accidentally put your finger in the picture since the button is so small and is right there. You have to watch where you put your fingers to use the camera.
Changing a ringtone or changing profile settings also requires many steps and it is hard to find.
Overall, this is a good phone for work. I could care less about the stupid bluetooth and I have had no problems with battery life.

I've owned several Motorola phones in the past and was hesitant to switch to a Sony Ericsson. Since I was going to be stuck with `this' phone for the next 2-years, I spent a good amount of time researching several phones (LG, Motorola, SE, Iphone, and Samsung) and found this one was prefect. CNET gives it a very high rating!! (BTW-I would have loved to get the IPhone but I didn't want to pay the extra monthly service charges the phone requires and as a `phone' it is quite large to carry around.)
I wanted a Slide Phone but not one that was too bulky & thick and also one that had a key-pad that would (1) last and (2) had numbers that were not too small. Surprisingly CNET reviewed several phones that did not meet those simple criteria.
While I waited for my phone to be delivered, I saw the previous reviews. I became very concerned about the choice I had made. Well, I have had this phone for 2 weeks and have not seen any of the problems the other reviewers listed. I bought a 4G M2 card and have loaded a good amount of music and images. The great thing is, the computer software is free on SE's site, where Motorola made you pay for theirs.
So, to say the least, I love this phone. I LOVE the walkman 'SensMe' feature, the fact you can shake the phone to shuffle or go to the next song, and you can lift or lower the phone to change the volume... Not to mention, for the size you get a great camera and AAC/MP3 player all in one! It's prefect! Also, if I want to add web-access, I can add it later but I am not committed to an additional monthly service plan like I would have been with the I-Phone. Honestly, the list of what I love goes on.
Also, I did send SE an e-mail suggesting they read the reviews on Amazon's site. SE also provides software upgrades for their phones so if there is an issue, hopefully they would fix it. I have received an e-mail back informing me they have not had those issues reported as of yet but would look into them.
I HIGHLY recommend this phone! And it easily deserves the 5-stars I have given it!!!
