I recently got the Xperia Play. The phone itself is great, clear pictures, nice signal, operating system is quite stable.
As you may imagine be careful about battery life and get used to carry with you a portable battery charger.
If we think about it, the whole idea of this phone may be for people who travel a lot or have to wait a lot. I parked my car in front of my girlfriend house, while I wait I take out my phone and play for a little while (1 hour).
Send a couple of text messages, get some phone calls and charge your phone. The Xperia play itself is great, just I wish battery was better. Instead carrying my cellphone and my PSP. Now I need to carry my phone and a portable charger.

I did a lot of research before purchasing my Samsung Wave S5330 cellphone. I wanted a slider; I wanted WiFi; I wanted a decent camera; I wanted it to be unlocked; and it needed to be compatible with T-Mobile. I love my new phone! I must admit, like most manuals, it leaves a bit to be desired. But, there are enough people out there now, who are cellphone/computer savvy, who have already figured out an answer to whatever problem you might run across, and you can find all unanswered answers that way on the internet! My biggest hiccup was trying to work with the phone when I was tired! It seemed to automatically turn on and it was not English! The manual told me to turn the phone on and then select my language of choice. I didn't have a clue and couldn't figure this one out for the life of me! Of course, the next morning, when I was much more with it, I was able to do some investigative work and some trial-and-error work and voila! Everything is now in English and I love my phone! Once past these few initial glitches, the phone, as told to me by the vendor (Wireless Experts), who called me before shipping, to make sure I had a SIM card (GSM) so that the phone would work for me (I thought this was a wonderful, above and beyond the call of duty by them!), is as easy to use as I was told it would be! And the feel is great and the slideout keyboard has keys that my fingers can actually manipulate (and I don't have large fingers!), unlike my now retired Blackberry Curve! I've not yet used the camera much, so can't say much about it, other than the mega-pixels are more than I had in the Blackberry and that took pretty decent pictures, so I can only hope. All in all, this is a phone that is going to suit me just fine. It probably doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other smart phones, but then I don't need them and wouldn't use them if I had them! It does already have lots and lots that I probably won't use!

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i Unlocked Phone and Gaming Device with Android OS and Slide-Out Gamepad Review

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i Unlocked Phone and Gaming Device with Android OS and Slide-Out Gamepad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
PROS: Beautiful phone. Impresive screen. Wi-FI, Bluetooth, GPS, Internet all work fine. Call audio excellent, good reception. A gamer must. Easy to use and get used to. Comes with a 8GB microSD.
CONS: Game controler is a little small (and I don't have big hands). Also a little heavier than other phones. But the real problem is that sometimes while calling the screen goes blank, so you don't have access to any function, then things come back to normal (so i guess it must be something in the software). Also while playing, all of a sudden the game has shut down and automaticaly gone back to the home screen. Not very frequent but should be a perfect phone of this price.
17/06/2011: A software update has practiaclly fixed all the bugs. No more closing programs or problems with the phone calls. Very happy indeed.

I really enjoy this phone! In fact, I'm using it now to complete this review! I've had it for a month now without any problems. I had been trying to find a phone that would work well with my TMobile or ATT sims. Plus, I wanted something with a keyboard because all touchscreen was starting to get old for me.

Samsung Nexus S Unlocked Phone--U.S. Warranty (Black) Review

Samsung Nexus S Unlocked Phone--U.S. Warranty (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
(I would expect someone investigating purchasing a cell phone would do some price comparison, $700 for this phone is a bit steep.)
The Nexus S is an interesting phone. It is the sequel to Google and HTC's Nexus One (incorrectly regarded as a flop) and like the iPhone 4 it sets the bar for the current generation of smart phones.
I bought this phone on its release day, so I am very familiar with what it can do. I came from using a Nokia N900 Unlocked Phone/Mobile Computer with 3.5-Inch Touchscreen, QWERTY, 5 MP Camera, Maemo Browser, 32 GB--U.S. Version with Full Warranty which was another great unlocked phone. But this year alone has seen a lot of improvements in what phones can do.
The Nexus S, made by Samsung, is a gorgeous gadget. It is a little underwhelming in person, glossy all-black, but its a sleak package and it has some definite power under the hood. The 1GHz Hummingbird processor absolutely blows through apps, I have not experienced anything I would consider lag. I've encountered latency and bad apps, but those are not the phone's fault. The Gingerbread version of Android is a real stunner. I still read about issues with 2.2 (Froyo) and just have to shrug because this phone does very well with every app i've installed.
The camera(s) and other features function very well. The optics of this camera are not all that impressive, but the software behind the camera works very well and even resource hungry apps like Photoshop Express function very nicely on the Nexus S. As for displaying those pictures, this is one of the most beautiful displays on any phone. The "contour" glass is curved just enough to be comfortable when held up to your ear, and it separates it from all the "slabs". The glass coating is wonderful to touch and fingerprints wipe off without a lot of smearing.
One of the big gripes I've heard since this phone was announced was that it lacked an SD card. I was nervous stepping down to a 16GB phone after having 32GB plus an SD card slot on the n900, but now I do not miss it. The streaming apps (youtube, last.fm) do a great job of keeping me entertained and I've gotten quite good at plugging in to my computer every so often to move media onto and off of the device. An interesting thing to note: The 16GB is partitioned similar to a phone with SD card, So you have about 2GB of "root" space- where the apps and actual Android OS stay, and then the 14GB "SD" partition that will be unmounted when you connect your phone to a computer (if that didn't make sense to you, don't worry). You can move apps onto the "SD" partition. In short, I have not missed having a huge hard drive on this thing.
The other gripe is "No 4G" and this one is more of a "religious debate". We are only seeing the tip of 4G. Every carrier claims to have 4G service, but that's a debatable statement. Its pretty clear that carriers didn't even roll out 3G as much as they could have, so really we're waiting for proper high speed connection of any sort in most areas of the country. If you are one of the fortunate few who lives in 4G land, and you KNOW that you need extreme speeds NOW (and you won't travel anywhere, because then you're back to 3G or EDGE pretty quick) then this is not the phone for you. For the majority of people, 3G speeds are quite adequate for the majority of applications (both software and usage) that people will use, the phone is also 802.11 b/g/n compatible, so using wifi will improve your experience over many 4G connections. Consider also that you get tethering for free with this phone (a very nice feature that makes any Wifi device far more mobile so long as you have your Nexus S with you).
Now on to the Nexus S's unlocked status. Is it expensive to buy a phone without a contract? of course, you are only paying for the phone once. If you do the math it is cheaper in the long run (and you have more freedom) if you buy your phone and choose your carrier. Also take into consideration that Google will send the Nexus S Android updates before any other phone on any carrier gets them in the US. This shortcuts all the "fractured" issues with different manufacturers and carriers limiting your access to the latest Android software. This phone's usability will be extended because of it. There is no carrier in the way who will want you to upgrade to get the next batch of features for Android, instead you're plugged directly (or more directly) to the source. That is a big advantage.UPDATE: Having now used this phone daily for a few months, I am still very pleased. The main comment complement I get when people notice the screen and just how good videos look on it (even rather low quality youtube videos). Having Gingerbread on here is a real treat (ha ha). Its a shame I can't recommend certain apps (like Google's Navigation or certain widget functionality) since its running a version of Android that isn't available to my other 'Droid brethren and I feel like a snob explaining how this is practically the only phone with the latest OS.
About the only thing I miss on this phone is an LED to indicate incoming messages when the screen is off. And I have noticed a weird quirk where the phone will randomly reboot itself. This is a known glitch that should be resolved with the next update to Gingerbread (2.3.3).

Get the ultimate Google experience at 3G speeds which pairs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor and integrated Google Voice capabilities. A thin-profile contour display gives the Nexus S a unique slim and trim size that fits easily in the palm of your hand, and its brighter, high-contrast screen means colors are incredibly vibrant and text is crisp at any size--even when viewed in bright sunlight.

The Nexus S is packed with the latest mobile technologies, including a Super AMOLED Contour Display with curved glass screen, 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, and Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking plus 3G Mobile Hotspot capability for sharing your 3G connection with up to six Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously. And with support for Near Field Communications (NFC), the Nexus S can read information from "smart" tags, or everyday objects that have NFC chips in them--from stickers and movie posters to t-shirts.

The phone is outfitted with a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera plus a front-facing camera for easy video chats on the go. Other features include assisted GPS (A-GPS) for navigation and location-based services, Bluetooth for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, haptic feedback vibration, access to both personal and corporate e-mail, and up to 6 hours of talk time. And with the Nexus S, you'll always be the first to receive software upgrades and new Google mobile apps as soon as they become available.

Google Voice Integration
With Google Voice, your phone number is more than just 10 digits--it's the main hub of your voice communications. You get one number that rings all your phones--up to six different phones--with intelligent call routing and advanced features like call screening, blocking, and recording. You also get transcribed voicemail that's sent to you via email and/or text message, low-priced international calling, custom voicemail greeting capabilities, and more.

Android, 2.3 (Gingerbread) Platform
The Nexus S 3G runs the Android 2.3 platform (dubbed "Gingerbread")--the fastest version of Android available for smartphones yet. It features a cleaner, more refined interface with new icons, improved top notification bar, and more intuitive navigation. Multitasking in Gingerbread allows you the ability to run more than one app at a time. If you're playing a game, you can easily switch to an incoming email and then switch back to the game without losing your place.

A new onscreen keyboard makes it easier to type thanks to additional spacing between the keys and larger font sizes. And the more you use the keyboard, the easier typing will be as the enhanced suggest feature records previous input history to make better suggestions.

With Voice Actions for Android, you can press and hold the Search button from anywhere and speak almost anything--text messages and emails, navigation direction queries, opening web pages, and more. And like the previous version of Android ("Froyo"), Gingerbread provides support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for access to the full Web.

The Nexus S 3G also brings one-touch access to the popular Google mobile services you use every day, including Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Navigation, Google Calendar, Picasa, and YouTube. It also provides easy access to both personal and corporate e-mail, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. And through Android Market, you'll get access to thousands of useful applications, widgets, and fun games to download and install on your phone, with many more apps being added every day.

Near-Field Communications
An NFC Reader application lets your read and interact with near-field communication (NFC) tags. For example, you can "touch" or "swipe" an NFC tag that might be embedded in a poster, sticker, or advertisement, then act on the data read from the tag. A typical use would be to read a tag at a restaurant, store, or event and then rate or register by jumping to a web site whose URL is included in the tag data.

Vital Statistics
The Nexus S weighs 4.6 ounces and measures 4.87 x 2.48 x 0.44 inches. Its 1500 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6 hours of talk time.

I finally found the phone that I really love and I am sticking to. You can not go wrong with the Sony Ericsson! The graphics on the camera is amazing.I never knew Sony was capable of doing that. I love how slim it is. I can slip it anywhere in my pockets without it looking bulky; although the price for this phone is a bit much, but like they say, you get what you pay. Its definetely worth it. The only issue I came across was the volume settings does not go high enough, its actually low. Also when you set the Message alerts to like a specific ringtone you like. When someone is text messaging you the music continues to play; normally you can press a button or touch the screen and it will stop playing. The reason why I say this is because sometimes putting your phone on vibrate doesnt work and you end up having alot of miss calls or a lot of messages. I usually like my sounds on so I can hear my phone when it goes off. I dont like having it on vibrate all the time. Other than that the phone is excellent!!! and I would definetely recommend this to someone. I am highly satisfied with my new phone!!!!
Thanks Sony!

Samsung Google Nexus S Smartphone with US 3G, 5MP Camera, Android OS, Touch Screen - No Warranty - White Review

Samsung Google Nexus S Smartphone with US 3G, 5MP Camera, Android OS, Touch Screen - No Warranty - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Nexus S is the follow up flagship handset to the Nexus One, which I still own. It is a much better experience having a vanilla build OS vs a custom OS which can hinder overall performance, not to forget being free of carrier control and restrictions! There are a few specs the phone has that can be a turn off to someone who is into having the latest tech implemented; but overall it is a very good phone that I'm glad to have purchased.
Cons:
-It's not a 4G phone, which really isn't a problem because in the U.S. 4G hasn't been fully deployed. WiMax and HSDPA+ is more like 3.5G.
-It doesn't have the solid build of the Nexus One, rather a plastic feel to it which may seem a bit cheap. $600.00 is a lot for a plastic body.
-No MicroSD slot ( a huge flaw, the phone is limited to only the 16 GB onboard storage.
-The speaker is on the back of the phone.
-The video isn't HD.
Pros:
-Very Speedy thanks to 1 GHz Humming Bird processor.
-Gingerbread onboard, and because it's vanilla build it will have the updates in a more timely matter. Some newer phones have Froyo 2.2, and it will be months before they receive 2.3.
-Gorgeous display with great color and black levels.
-The contour display is no gimmick, the phone feels comfortable against the ears.
-Once implemented, the NFC will allow the phone to behave like those in Japan, making it a digital wallet.
I own a iPhone 3G, 3GS, iPhone 4, Nexus One, and this phone! There is one Blackberry user in my household, and she will cross over soon! I can argue iOS vs Android but ultimately it's up to the end user, they both have their pros and cons!

HTC Surround T8788 Unlocked Review

I acquired the phone and soon I realized that is worst than a marriage contract with Microsoft. I previously had an Omnia II running Windows Mobile 6.1. I had installed my Bible Reader and Bible from OliveTree.com, Pocket Cad Viewer and FSecure Mobile Security. I could also synchronize my contacts from Outlook and I felt a complete integration with my desktop.
After having the new HTC Surround running Windows Phone 7 for about a day I ralized that none of the above actions could be done and any applications to be installed are to be done through Microsoft Market Place with limited offerings to my interests. I ended up giving the phone away to my son, who does not need any additional apps and handles his contacts through Windows Live

Motorola makes great devices which have the latest software, however once you buy the device you get no updates to it which makes it obsolete in a few months! Then they make a new version of the device with the newest software again to lure even more people to their trap. See Motorola Europe pages for example for comments on how Motorola is treating their customers.
[...]
Also in the US, they locked bootloaders of the newer phones which will soon create the same havoc it did as in Europe.
I would stay away from Motorola's products (and I wish that I never bought an Android phone from Motorola)

This is not having a 5 MP camera instead it's only have a 2 MP camera. Features are all same as Nokia C5-03 with only difference in Camera resolution and Wi-Fi. There is no Wi-Fi in this version which is absurd. There is no point of buying Nokia C5-04 instead of Nokia C5-03.
Amazon listed this product with wrong details of 5 MP camera which is actually confusing. I am returning this product due to this.

NEW Dual Core LG G2x with Google Unlocked Review

NEW Dual Core LG G2x with Google Unlocked
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Two major complaints - The screen bleeds light. The device randomly reboots. I wouldn't throw this device under the bus if the problem was simply that I'd received a lemon because that happens. If you do a search, however, you'll find this to be a common complaint for this device & one I've experienced a few times personally. What's more, the screen's resolution and vividness isn't up to par for an HD device.
An expensive, dual core, HD phone should have either a higher resolution or an AMOLED screen. This phone is out-classed by it's other dual core, HD competitors.
This high-end device is stuck on Android 2.2 (Froyo) in spite of never ending claims that it will get 2.3 (Gingerbread).
I purchased this phone 2 weeks ago and I'm already on my 3rd device because of the screen bleeding light and device rebooting. If it weren't for these two issues, this would be a wonderful smartphone. ...but then, if I had wings I could fly.
To T-Mobile's credit, instead of giving customer's a hard time, the company acknowledge the issue and willingly & swiftly replaces the faulty units whilst taking up the quality issues with LG. T-Mobile is handling this issue in a timely, fair & professional manner.
If you seek a dual core HD device from T-Mobile, I suggest you go for HTC's Sensation 4G. Do a side-by-side comparison on gsmarena. It has a bigger screen with more pixels (qHd). It shoots 1080p at 30fps, instead of G2X's 24fps. It comes with Android 2.3. It has 250 more mb of RAM.

Iphone 3gs 8gb Never Locked Factory Unlocked MC637ZP/A Review

Iphone 3gs 8gb Never Locked Factory Unlocked MC637ZP/A
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My iPhone 3gs was ordered and delivered in ample time. It is a pretty good and reliable phone. I prefer this by far over the Blackberry. The only major problem I have so far with the iPhone 3gs is the battery life. I don't usually run many applications or do much downloading on a regular basis, but I have to charge the phone every single night. Ughhh! There is suppose to be a pin like object to open the simcard slot, that pin was pissing and one other problem, which is a defect with this particular phone, is that there seems to be some heated pixels to the top right-hand corner of the screen. Whenever i take pictures etc, the picture has this black dis-colouration about the size of a penny on it. That is the major disappointment with this phone, because it is suppose to be a BRAND NEW phone! Other than that and the battery life its a great phone.

HTC Desire S S510E Unlocked QuadBand GSM Phone with Android OS, 3.7 Display, HTC Sense UI, 5 MP Camera, Wi-Fi and GPS--International Version without Warranty
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had this phone for 2 weeks now, and I love it. Note that my review is for the phone not the buyer, since I didn't order via Amazon. This is my first HTC phone, I had a Dell Streak 5 (runs Android 2.2) before which was huge, and the CPU and the RAM were not that powerful, so it used to freeze quite often, specially with too many apps running. This one runs very smoothly, even though it is not a dual core processor.
I was not sure if I should get this one or the HTC Desire HD. They system Spec are very similar. Since I was sick of the 5 inch phone, I chose the Desire S (3.7 inch) vs the HD (4.3 inch). The price is very similar, the HD should be available with 2.3 Gingerbread by now. The HD has an 8 MP camera which seems to be really good, and much better than the Desire S MP. On the other hand, The Desire S has a front camera which is cool for Skype video calls. Yes, Desire S was one of the first Android phones along with the Nexus S to run Skype video chat. Nexus S was another option that I might have gone with, check it out. Desire S camera is very impressive if there is enough lighting around, and it shoots 720p video, which is very crisp.
The screen is not that bad under sun light. yes, you want be read or browse properly, but you will be able to see who is calling (something I was unable to do with previous handsets).
Main disadvantage, as with many smart phones, is the battery life. I charge it daily over night, so it lasts me the whole day with moderate use (checking email, browsing, connected to WiFi, and Bluetooth headset most of the time). It charges via mini USB, so it can be charged almost anywhere.Final thoughts: Check some youtube comparisons, and the HTC website they explain all their features. I got mine unlocked cause I don't want to commit to a contract, thus it came from the UK. This means a European 3G frequency, so you cannot connect 3G via your network provider, so you may wanna check if that's the case for you. For me, I wanted that cause I mainly use Wi-Fi (Home, work, and most of the cafes has it) plus I will be moving overseas and the 3G will work over there.
Based on my needs I give it 5 stars, you may rather HTC Desire HD, or Nexus S for a similar price... or even go fancier with HTC sensation dual core processor.
