Going on 9 months with the phone. Still enjoying it and happy with my decision. There is word of the Lotus 2 (2nd generation) phone coming out sometime in 2010. It's too early to tell how much will have changed from the Lotus 1, but so far word has it that the micro SDHC memory limit has been expanded to 32Gb and the outer screen will be touch sensitive. The touch screen functionality suggests that the inner screen will have this too, but that was not mentioned. In any case, expect the phone to debut sometime in the summer. If you really need a phone right now, you can't go wrong with the Lotus given the extremely attractive discounts going on.

The LG Lotus was introduced in the fall of 2008, to reasonable fanfare and press. But do you hear anything about the Lotus now? Not much, which I find strange because the LG Lotus is such an amazing phone. Maybe the surging popularity of touch screen phones overshadows it?
I bucked the touch screen trend and instead went with an LG Lotus. I had to switch from Verizon to Sprint in order to get it, because US based cellular carriers still impose a carrier lock on most phones and have significant pricing discounts when buying a phone with a plan. At first, I was worried about leaving "American's most reliable network" and sacrificing the "in network" minutes with a few of the people I know... but then I came to realize that Sprint has an excellent network as well. So far in my first few weeks of being on the Sprint network, I've noticed no performance loss.
But back to the phone. This is what attracted me to the Lotus:
1) EXCELLENT QWERTY KEYPAD. I don't like the lack of feedback from a touch screen phone; but you've no choice with it, because that's the main interface you're given (unless you do everything by voice command). On the other hand, the tactile sensation of the Lotus keypad is excellent. I have XL sized hands and have no trouble rapidly "double thumb" typing on the Lotus. I tried the Blackberry Curve and Treo--the Lotus keypad works with fewer typos.
2) SMALL FORM FACTOR. The iPhone, Storm, and Omnia touch screen style phones are all quite large and a bit weighty. They don't fit comfortably in your pocket, especially if you've got it in a case to avoid screen scratches. But the Lotus disappears in your pocket. Even in a shirt pocket, it is unobtrusive. When folded, the inner screen and keyboard are fully protected. Yet, when you open it up, the size is doubled and it is easy to hold. THIS is what cellular communications should be all about. I've tried out the Motorola RAZR and I'd say the Lotus is about the same thickness but easier to hold. Overall, the design of the Lotus is very unusual. When opened, it almost looks like a miniature laptop! :-)
3) SEMI-SMART PHONE. What does it take for a cellular phone to be called a Smart Phone? "There is no agreement in the industry about what a smartphone actually is and definitions have changed over time." The Lotus supports Java applications, can browse the web, download files, exchange e-mail (when connected, e-mail is pushed to the phone), and work as a GPS device. This certainly sounds smart to me. Aside from the default browser, you can download others (like the Opera Mini) and even use a GMail application instead of going through the HTML interface. I'm sure as time goes on, the list of compatible Java apps for the Lotus will increase.
4) PLAN VERSATILITY. With smart phones like the iPhone, Storm, and Omnia, you MUST have a data plan. With the Lotus, you can choose whether or not you want a data plan. Plus, on Sprint, you can do this change mid-stream on your contract without incurring costs or contract change penalties (the countdown to expiration remains unchanged). I find this an attractive advantage over the competition.
5) SCREEN RESOLUTION. The inner screen of the Lotus is 2.5" diagonal. It is a beautiful wide screen that looks like one you'd see on a quality digital camera. The resolution is SUPERB. Pictures appear razor sharp and in full accurate color. Even the external screen looks great, and you can choose not only a few different clock layouts but a different wallpaper from the internal screen.
6) MENU SYSTEM. The default "Carousel" style menu system is actually very nice. It is customizable and provides very easy access to popular functions of the phone. It is great for novices but a little annoying for the technically adept. However, you can dispense with it and go with the LG menu system. With the help of a Sprint store rep, you can get the default LG menu activated (or if you know your MSL number, you can do it yourself). I prefer the LG menu as it removes the Carousel clutter (if the menu would auto-hide, I'd like it more) so you can see your wallpaper image in all its glory. Plus, you go from 5 to 12 favorites (shortcuts), something I really appreciate. Not only that, but the left menu button becomes a quick access link to the Calendar/Scheduler, instead of it being hidden behind a carousel tile you have to hunt for. Supposedly, going with the LG menu saves you some battery life, too.
7) NO THEFT MAGNET. Large and glamorous PDA phones are a theft magnet, especially the coveted iPhone. Personally, I find the idea of constantly whipping out an expensive device increases the chance for damage (who here hasn't dropped a phone at least once on a hard surface?) and involuntary loss due to theft. The Lotus is nicely inconspicuous (especially the black version).
8) MUSIC PLAYBACK QUALITY. The built in music player is a little cumbersome at first, in that upon initial insertion of the SD card, it scans all of your music and creates an internal index. But once that index is created, it is quick and easy to play music selections by "All Songs", "Artists", "Genres", and "Albums". Plus you can create your own playlists, as well as use random or sequential play by Genre, Artist, and All Songs. A very nice attribute for the way the SD card is used is that you can subdivide your music by whatever folders you want--the Lotus scans the card and finds them, rather than requiring all songs to be in one folder. Sound quality is impressive, although for this small size the bass is lacking. But mids and highs are clear and accurate. I couldn't believe what I was able to hear... better than the iPod earbuds, that's for certain. Plus, it has a 2.5mm jack so you can plug in earbuds if you wish to listen privately. Bluetooth headsets are also supported.
9) EXCELLENT GPS SOFTWARE. I was about to buy a Garmin Nuvi 255w. But now, I don't have to. The Sprint GPS Navigator is excellent! It really works. Plus, it's full featured. You get horizon view and bird's eye view, turn-by-turn voice navigation with street names, easily stored favorites, and interfacing with Google maps. It also audibly informs you about traffic conditions. What more could you want?
10) DECENT CAMERA. A 2.0 megapixel camera sounds passe, when 3.2 and 5.0 cellphone cameras are available. Well, I don't know what firmware LG put in this phone, but this is the best 2.0 megapixel camera I've ever seen. I'd swear it was 3.0 megapixel. Photos are of very high quality. It works OK in low light if the subject remains still. There is NO flash, unfortunately. I wouldn't use this over a full fledged digital camera, but it makes for an excellent backup.
11) OBVIOUS CHARGING INDICATOR. On many phones, you need to look at the LCD screen to see a message that charging is complete or that the battery indicator is now on full. With the Lotus, the external music controls are lit up red when charging is taking place, but change to white once charging is finished--quite obvious to notice from a distance, which is very convenient.
12) MINI USB CONNECTOR. The mini USB connector works very well with this phone, sliding into place securely. And now there are vendors supplying car chargers with retractable cords that work with the Lotus. It's an excellent solution for convenient charging on the go with no cords to hassle with.
OTHERS - the phone has 5 alarm settings, one "quick alarm" and 4 main ones that you can set for whatever period you need (once, daily, weekly, monthly) and with whatever sound you want (default or downloaded). There is even a feature that allows you to record a phone call--not bad.So, those are the things I really like about the Lotus. But alas, no phone is perfect. Here is what I see needing improvement:
1) VOICE QUALITY. During calls, voices are projected through an internal speaker on the lid. Depending on the party reached, some calls sound a little flat and tinny on high volume. This is in contrast to the excellent voice quality I had on a Motorola E815. Now, it's not so bad that it is a deal breaker, but I wish it was a little better. If you're in a noisy room and crank up the volume, you'll be a bit disappointed. I tend to keep the volume set to about the mid-point. Using an ear set works well, as an alternative. In fact, at home I plug in a wired ear set and it works beautifully. I tuck the phone in my pocket and walk around hands free. The speakerphone quality is excellent, though.
2) BATTERY LIFE. If you leave your phone connected to the Internet most of the time, you'll probably need to recharge your phone daily. But if you shut off the Internet connection when not in use, battery life should be about average for standby and talk time. The Lotus is rated at 5.5 hours, but I'd say it's just about 3 hours. Samsung M510 Black Phone (Sprint) Review

(More customer reviews)The M510 has all the features I was looking for, and nothing to get in the way of basic phone usability. I don't like the usual tiny keyboards, so this one is a treat -- remarkably easy for larger fingers to use, with positive tactile feedback (click). The screen is easy to read, sharp and colorful, and the various screens are straightforward to navigate (although, as with most phones, I'd like to remove some of the screen items I'll never use).
The sound quality is good, and I find it comfortable to hold while talking. Unlike one-piece phones, it's nice that the screen is held away from your face so you don't have to keep cleaning it. The startup sound is loud but short, so I just put my finger over the external speaker.
I've found the software to be nicely designed for usability, with number entry being faster than my previous phone. I'd like to speed up the text entry for names (not using T9), but that's partly my fault so I'll not nit-pick. Navigation around the screens is pretty simple, with either the nav arrows or Back getting you there with a few clicks. Some of the standard ringtones are dorky but that seems typical for phones.
The packaging is sleek, thin, and yet feels solid. I like the two-tone black with the band of blue (also inside) and silver -- it's a clean design. I was concerned about the more exposed hinge on other phones (such as the Razr), and know they take a lot of hits, so this one is more sensibly tucked away from the corners and should be more robust. The shape is comfortable to hold and the cover provides a bit more grip than the typical glossy finish.
The SD card and power/interface jack covers are tiny, but they do work and so far I haven't had any problems. The SD card is tiny (!) but comes with an adapter for normal SD slots, so for me that lets me offload photos directly without having to go through the phone connection. The power adapter is small (about 1/2 the size of an Altoids box) so taking both on a trip would be easy.
I've been able to turn it on during whole work day and do that for several days in a row without recharging (granted, that's with not many phone calls). The talk time does seem reasonable.
All in all, it's a slick, solid, easy-to-use phone that you can carry without noticing it but works well when you need it. Recommended.

Samsung SPH M220 - Cellular phone - CDMA2000 1X - folder (flip) - blue Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using the CDMA Sprint Diamond for 5 months. With the stock Sprint ROM (referring to the software preloaded on the device) you'll be plagued by several problems which thankfully can all be overcome with some software mods and tweaks from great resources like ppcgeeks and xda. These forums host an enthusiastic community of windows mobile developers and "power users" and participating in the community can be one of the most rewarding aspects to owning this type of device. Just by lurking around the forums and reading the stickies you will learn a lot and be well on your way to customizing the device to suit your needs. That said, this tweaking process is not for everyone; if you're not interested in learning about technology and prefer something that just works right out of the box then get an iPhone instead. Out of the box, this phone has the following severe issues:
1. Poor battery life and significant battery drain even while the phone is not in use.
2. Slow system performance and lag while TF3D is running. TF3D (Touch Flow 3D - AKA Manila) is HTC's very slick user interface which sits on top of windows mobile looking pretty and giving you quick access to your most essential info and programs. With usage the phone will periodically become unresponsive or freeze and need to be restarted. (Think back to Windows 98)
3. The phone will wake up from an incoming call or text message or when changing cell towers. That means the screen will turn on and become active which makes the device prone to pocket dialing while it's in your pocket. On this diamond there is no way to disable that behavior. (There is a registry edit that works on the GSM Diamond) The work around is locking the phone before tucking it away but the default lock program is not great.
4. TF3D does not include a calender or task screen. That means you have to use pocket outlook to manage appointments and tasks. Like most native windows mobile 6.1 applications, pocket outlook is not finger friendly so you'll either need to be very accurate with your finger nails or use the stylus.
5. Some of the phones capabilities have been hidden.
As mentioned, the good news is that all of these issues can be overcome and I'll tell you how. First, go to the HTC Diamond forum on PPCGeeks.com and read the stickies on how to unlock your phone and flash a custom Rom. If you have a basic working knowledge of windows, zip files and things of that nature - this stuff is easy to do.
MightyRom is currently the most popular custom ROM on PPCGeeks. I'm running MightyRom version 4.7. Due to the upgrades and enhancements that mighty has "cooked" into his Rom, the phone becomes much more usable. In a nutshell, battery life is doubled, performance is faster and smoother...and stability is improved but the occasional restart is still necessary. Hidden features such as Internet connection sharing are enabled. Even the built in FM radio is working thanks to an app that was ported from the European GSM diamond. While some ROMs are packed with lots of applications, mighty keeps his light and clean which means it doesn't come with many applications pre-installed other than the essential ones. Fortunately, installing any other applications of your choice is as easy as downloading the .CAB file to the phone (or copying it to the phone) and then running it on the phone.
Beyond the ROM, there are a few applications in particular that I recommend because they address the other issues that I mentioned above.
1. S2A2 (Free) - Slide to Unlock 2 is a replacement for the default lock screen. It's essentially a knock off of the iPhone's lock screen. S2U2 works well with MightyRom, is easy to use, looks good and has lots of options.
2. ThumbCal ($19.95 USD) - This sits on top of Pocket Outlook providing you with a finger friendly calendar and task manager. The week view is especially well designed and very useful. 14 days free trial. There are also other free soft keyboard alternatives you can try.
3. TouchPal ($19.99 USD) - While the included software keyboards are good, touchPal is the best in breed. The compact QWERTY layout in TouchPal gets the most functionality out the small amount of space available on the Diamond's screen and it's actually FUN to use once you get the hang of it. Fully Free for 30 days with a nag screen after that if you don't buy.
4. G-Alarm (Free) - This is a free finger friendly alarm program with tons of options. I use it to set up alarms using an MP3 playlist which snooze when I turn the phone upside down.
The above makes up the core of my setup which really works nicely for me. Of course, there are many other directions you could go in.
Perhaps the most exciting news on the horizon is the new version of TF3D that HTC is putting in the new Diamond 2. It's being ported to the Diamond (see: "XBmod Rhodium Beta Manila"). This version of TF3D includes some extra tabs such as a working Calender tab which may alleviate the need to buy a separate calendar app like ThumbCal.
One final note: Sprint finally released an official ROM update which is an improvement over the originally shipped ROM but the best custom ROMs will still offer the best performance and features for your Diamond.

One month $10, the next month $300, and finally, over $1500 for a single month! Each month I was unable to find out what I was being billed for: Sprint representatives only said, "sorry, just wait for your next bill." So, you have been warned: the modem may be effective, up to a point, but the service is a disaster.

Samsung M520 Phone, Silver (Sprint) Review

(More customer reviews)Samsung M520 is a 2008-release for Sprint. It supports 3G data.
If there's one takeaway from this review, it's that this thing has awful battery life. After just two days of moderate use, I felt compelled to invest in a second power adapter and a second battery. While they're not overly expensive, esp. the knock-off ones, the point is that the battery life is very short. It is around 3-4 hours, which means that it won't get you through a work day, let alone after hours. What this means it that you should loiter around a power source, or pack with you a spare battery or two. I just keep it on the charger whenever I can.
To make the matter slightly worse, the battery level indicator is not useful. First of all, it has three bars. Most of the time it shows all three. When you're down to two, you have very little left, probably 30 minutes. At one bar, it's pretty much drained. So, don't fall in to a false sense of security of the full three bars. After a bit of use, charge it!
Now onto other problems:
1. You need to buy a 3.5mm (standard sized) earpiece adapter. It only comes with 2.5mm.
2. There is only one connector port, where the earpiece, charger, and (optional) USB cable connects. So when you're listening through the earpiece, you cannot charge the phone. Which is terrible, since that's probably when you're using - and drawing power from - the phone.
3. The minimum volume is too high. This is especially annoying with an earpiece.
4. It's slow. Not horrible, but nothing comes up immediately. Applications take time to load. Sprint TV takes a good 5-10 seconds.
5. The text input is inconsistent. Some apps insert spaces, some don't, some do auto-complete, some don't.
6. The whole menu and "Favorite" list take some used to. They're pretty cumbersome.
7. The sound settings are all over the place.
8. Music player always tries to connect to the music store first. Very slow as well.
9. You cannot email the pictures you take! You can subscribe to a Sprint service to upload to their server, but you cannot email the pictures. Stupid.
10. While I'm on that, there are lots of places where if you click OK makes you subscribe to new services (i.e. pay for stuff). Be careful when you run apps you're not familiar with. They do tell you, so read stuff before clicking ok.
11. My battery door is often impossible to open. It's way too tight.
Now, onto the great parts about this phone:
1. The screen is excellent. I've come to expect this level of excellence from Samsung. Brilliant, bright, nice and shiny.
2. I think the phone looks great in general. Looks very slick.
3. Super light! This is the main reason why I got this phone, and love it so much. It's extremely light. (Partly due to the small battery, i.e. lack of uptime.)
4. Just a perfect form factor. Small, fits everywhere. Looks nice. Not too expensive, but perfectly presentable.
5. The buttons feel solid. The volume buttons are moving a little though, but nothing to worry about.
6. Good sound quality. No complaints in that department.
7. Has 6 bars for signal strengths. Very detailed. Good reception.
8. Does picture and video. Very easy to use.
9. Texting interface is very nice.
It supports Sprint TV, and flips it sideways in full screen mode, which is pretty smart. It has GPS and BlueTooth. GPS requires a subscription, unless you find the well-known way to work around it, in which case it works well and is free.
Overall, I love the form factor of the phone, and it's perfectly capable to make calls, check my email, do texting, tweet, and go on Facebook. So long as you don't forget to charge the phone, or take a spare with you, you'll do fine with this. Therefore, I still rate it highly with 4 stars.

LG Muziq LX-570 Phone (Sprint, Phone Only, No Service) Review

(More customer reviews)I got a LG 550 Fusic in June 2007 and traded it in for this one a month later, not knowing at the time that a successor was in the works. The Muziq is an excellent upgrade to its predecessor, but is similar or identical in most respects. Its footprint is a little larger, but the phone itself is slimmer and lighter, making it easier to fit in a pocket.
Unlike the Fusic, which had separate music players for memory card and downloaded content, the Muziq has one multi-capable music player which integrates the online Sprint music store. It contains most standard music player features, including shuffle and repeat. Although the music player is capable of displaying album art, this feature seems to be erratic. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't, for content I've loaded from my computer using the bundled software (some of the artwork was manually added and some automatically added, all using iTunes), and the artwork didn't appear on the external screen either. Still, album art isn't a big deal if you're not staring at the phone constantly, and with a 2 GB microSD or 4 GB microSD HC card, the phone does a decent iPod Nano impression. The phone comes packaged with half a headset - it's basically the microphone/clip/button/cable assembly with a standard size headphone jack. So, once you insert your headphones of choice, the cable effectively turns the combination of the two into a headset. Naturally other cell phone headsets work as well without the adapter; I haven't tried a Bluetooth headset yet, though. The phone also includes an RF transmitter, which has decent enough quality and works well but has a short range (5-10 feet) which means results will vary widely depending on where your car's antenna is located. My Pontiac Vibe has no problems with it at all.
The Muziq's earpiece has a bit of a sweet spot, but the volume and quality are good once you find it. Use of the speakerphone, however, is not recommended. It sounds okay for music (certainly not as good as stereo headphones, but not too tinny and the volume range is passable), but people on the other end aren't able to understand me most of the time. This is disappointing, because the Fusic's speakerphone was much better. Call quality in general is good though the person on the other end can tell it's a cell phone. Dropped calls are typically not a problem.
Camera quality is to be expected. I use the 1.3 MP camera for caller ID photos and not much else. One setting, the "image enhancer", I highly recommend turning on. I don't know what it does, but it improves the quality noticeably. Although the camera has a "flash", it's not terribly effective. You can also take videos with it, though those over 500 KB can't be sent by picture mail. Still, the camera is good enough for what I use it for.
The side keys are reliable but impossible to read. I had to memorize their positions before I could use them effectively. Also, the power/USB port has a door that must be removed, making it somewhat annoying to plug in, but I certainly don't mind not getting dirt in there. The headphone port and microSD card port also have doors, but I found them easier to manipulate than the ones the Fusic had. Also, the music controls on the outside are tactile, but not in a standard way - they don't depress like normal buttons. Instead, they vibrate when you put your finger on them. You can also increase the vibration to a second, harder setting if desired. I've found that the keys are reliable but a tad disconcerting to use. There's a key guard setting, also, so you don't activate them when you don't mean to, and naturally this can be turned off.
Three major PC connectivity gripes: The phone comes with a USB cable, but it CANNOT be used to charge the phone; when the phone is in file transfer mode, it cannot receive calls; and there's no Bluetooth file transfer (though you can transfer contacts with another Bluetooth phone). Despite these glaring flaws, if you have a decent size microSD card, you can use this as a USB flash drive in a pinch; it just can't be a phone at the same time. For the mildly computer-impaired, the Muziq is packaged with Sprint proprietary iTunes-like music synchronization software which is more than happy to find all the music on your system and make adding it to your phone as easy as drag and drop.
I highly recommend switching the phone from the default theme to the LG theme. I found it to be ugly and washed out looking; that's probably why CNET's review mentioned that the screen looked washed out - once the LG theme is in place, I couldn't disagree more with that assessment, as both of the 262,000 color screens look vibrant and detailed. It dispenses with the options cluttering up the main screen if one does not or cannot use the On Demand or Text Messaging functions. Also, with this theme active, the four directional buttons can be set to shortcuts, similar to many other Sprint models.
The phone has many preset simple, MIDI and polyphonic ringers, but you can't use MP3 ringers unless you download them from the Sprint music store. There are ways of tricking the phone into accepting a user MP3 ringer for the resourceful, though the process is by no means straightforward (do a web search for adding MP3 ringers on the Fusic; it's similar for this one). It would have been nice if LG made this easier, but seeing as how it would most likely result in a sharp drop in music store sales, I'm not too surprised by it.
One big advantage, in my opinion, that this has over the Fusic is the ability to independently control the vibration ringer option. On the Fusic, you could only enable vibration by itself or with the lowest and highest ringer levels. With this model vibration is a separate option that can be enabled at any ringer level. It's a little thing, but it's little upgrades like this that make the Muziq truly superior to its predecessor.
I don't have a data plan, but the small amount of internet I've used on the phone has shown speedy downloads and good quality. I can't speak to the TV features of this phone as a result.
Battery life is excellent. I've had the phone on for nearly a week without having to recharge it, talking about an hour a day and not using internet or music. It would be nice if the included USB cable functioned as a second charging cable, though.
Overall I have found the Muziq to be an excellent phone in the short time I have used it, nearly three weeks now. Aside from the slight USB gripes mentioned above, I'm very satisfied with it and it definitely catches eyes with its sleek design. There's no way to know how it will hold up over time, but I'm hopeful it'll last out this two-year contract better than the miserable experience I had with the Sanyo 8200.

(More customer reviews)Pros: It's beautiful. It's compact. It's sturdy. It works well as a phone. Reception is good. Voice-dialing works great. I can check my gmail at a click of a button. I can look up my google calendar the same way. (After simple programming) MP3 player works well. The sounds are great. I like multimedia aspect of the phone, too. "Flipping" can be annoying, but considering that it is not a PDA phone but works just as well, it is a minor inconvenience that one can easily put up with. Takes decent pictures. If you are a thoughtful photographer, you can end up with some frame-able shots. Video quality is not all that great, but I like it that it automatically creates a quick time file that I can easily send to both Mac and PC users and they have no problem downloading and viewing them. After all, no one really intends on shooting an award winning film with phone camcorder, right?
Cons: MP3 Player song list is not as intuitive as iPod. If you have 500 songs and the song you want to listen to is song number 400, you have to go from the top all the way to 400. Get the picture? Flipping can be annoying, but as mentioned above, you can get used to it. There is a big learning curve on understanding all the functions and characteristics of the phone. You start out excited, because the phone is beautiful and seems promising. Then you get frustrated very fast by the "sensitivity" of the multimedia buttons and the constant flipping. And then you fall in love with it all over again as you get used to the phone, because it has a lot to offer. Love hate. Comes only with 64meg memory. Good thing is that you can expand it by getting a 1 gig or even 2 gig memory card. I have 2 gigs and I love it. The extended battery is good to have, but sometimes it's cumbersome to carry your phone in it. It's a beautiful phone, wouldn't you want to show it off? But the extended battery does come handy at times, so it's like, you want it and then you don't want it. You debate where to put the extended battery if you take your phone off it.
Bottom line: I wanted to return this phone many times. It's been 3 weeks. I am still debating. It has a lot of good things to offer, but it also has its quirks and problems. If you want something that comes close to a PDA without the bulk, if you want something like an iPhone, but not yet ready to buy an iPhone like me, this is a good one to get. I most likely will keep it, but I know that it will be a constant love/hate thing. It sure is a beautiful gadget, though.

(More customer reviews)First off, I am not a business user. And this is my first smartphone. I say that because it proves you do not have to be an expert in complicated devices to enjoy this phone. But don't expect to just turn it on and be on your way. You do have to spend some time looking around and figuring out how things work. The size of the Touch Pro2 might be a little daunting at first, but if you give yourself time you will get used to it.
I am also a mac user. This is not as problematic as I expected. Transferring files and programs via bluetooth is simple. The only issue is backing up my data. Right now I hope my SD card will be sufficient. There are programs you can purchase to do this, but I don't think it's fair that I have to pay for a service that Windows pc users can take for granted.
**Edit: I recently found Microsoft MyPhone, which is a site where you can back up your Windows Mobile phone online regardless of whether you use a Mac or PC.
The screen is beautiful and very responsive for a resistive touchscreen. The keyboard is fantastic-- big and backlit with easy access to symbols. I admit I am not the person who is on their cell phone 24/7, so battery life has not been a problem for me yet. For me it would last probably two days on a charge, but it doesn't matter because I make a habit of charging it every night.
**UPDATE: I've had 6.5 installed for about 2 hours now, and I must say it is like night and day. Every complaint I had about 6.1 has been taken care of. Facebook syncing works great, and it is no longer too easy to activate the camera. And the new Sense interface is gorgeous. It's just like a smaller version of the HD2, without multi-touch. I just wish it had a gmail app.

(More customer reviews)The HTC Snap fixes everything I didn't like about the HTC Touch Pro. I traded my HTC Touch Pro for the Snap because I didn't care for the user interface and found myself frustrated with simple tasks like placing a call, or sending a text message.
The HTC Snap has an intuitive design similar to a the original BlackBerry without the trackwheel. It's easy to navigate to make a call, send a text message, surf the web, or play a game. It's not bulky like other smartphones, and has a thin profile. Yet, it's not too small to use.
The integrated keyboard is easy to use, unlike pullout keyboards like on the Mogul and HTC Touch Pro.
The snap also performed better when configuring my Microsoft Exchange Over the Air Active-Sync configuration. It automatically downloaded my server settings after I provided my email address and password. The HTC Touch Pro required manual configuration.
My only wish from the Snap is support for WIFI.
