CECT P168C UNLOCKED GSM QUADBAND Review

CECT P168C UNLOCKED GSM QUADBAND
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just bought this phone and it's pretty cool. It wasn't exactly as great as I thought it would be, mostly because I was directly comparing it to the Apple iPhone. The P168's new "slide-to-unlock" function is just like the iPhone, but it isn't exactly smooth... and doesn't unlock unless you press the button in the perfect spot. The stylus that comes with the phone is extremely useful and makes the phone much easier to operate.
Putting the battery and sim card in was very stressful. The back of the phone is extremely difficult to remove and it seems like you might break the phone just trying to get it off. Also, the stylus is pretty difficult to get out.
The overall feel of the phone is decent... definitely not as nice as the iPhone, but the price reflects that.
For under $200, I'd say it's worth it, because if it's not all that you wanted, it isn't much of a hit in your bank account.
4 out of 5

Unlocked Quad Band Touchscreen Cell Phone - Large Display Silver Edition Review

Unlocked Quad Band Touchscreen Cell Phone - Large Display Silver Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The phone is a great product. Battery life is excellent. I've gone three days full without recharge with heavy useage of the FM Radio, Music and talk time and only now seeing the battery colour change from blue to green. (colour changes according to battery strength: blue = good to excellent/fully charged; green = medium level; red = time for recharge). Does not support MicroSDHC cards but if you can find an 8GB MicroSD card, you're well on your way.
The overal feel of the phone is good, nice large 3" screen to view your photos and videos. Picture quality is good as well for a 3.0 megapixel camera.
Supports dual text input (querty onscreen keyboard + manual key input like that of basic phones). There are a lot of features that I like including auto off and auto on. Supports phone lock. While it doesn't support voice or picture dial, it makes a great companion especially as it supports two sim cards meaning one can simultaneously run two different phone networks from two different providers on one phone.
Drawbacks:
1. The unavailability of software to use the com port as a dialup modem especially in areas where one may not get internet while travelling. I haven't done a comprehensive search as yet but it looks like it may be emulating one of the samsungs. Somehow it is identified on some computers as a samsung (the removeable drive part that is). If I find something, I'll be sure to update this review. That's why I stopped short of giving it a 5 star rating.
2. mp4 support is spotty. Depending on the encoder used, you might have problems playing back. So be sure to check carefully what encoder is used. It's best to stick with avi.
It does come, however, with a spare battery, microphone/headset combination headphones (could be a bit more dynamic) usb charger both for wall and pc.
Finally, bluetooth speeds are exceptional. This completely blows away my Motorola W510 in terms of bluetooth speed transfers. That alone is an added bonus. All in all, a good phone and I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Pyrus Electronics 2GB Touch Screen MP3 /MP4 Player with Digital Camera Review

Pyrus Electronics 2GB Touch Screen MP3 /MP4 Player with Digital Camera

I bought this as a Christmas present for my 8 year old son, after charging the device and loading music, it worked fine for the first half hour. After that, it was turning itself off and on even though the battery was full charged. Device would play a tune then would have errors that that tune couldn't replay.

LG KS660 Unlocked Dual Sim CellPhone--International Version with No Warranty (Blue/Black) Review

LG KS660 Unlocked Dual Sim CellPhone--International Version with No Warranty (Blue/Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is LG cell phone is a good alternative for the persons like me that have to deal with two phones at the same time, and taking on count that the market of the brands that we used to have like nokia, sony will never offer this feature on their cell phones, LG seems to be one of the few possibilities that we have in a known brand. As you know this cell phone doesn't have 3G or Wi-Fi, the design is pretty good and the touch screen responds well but the camera even it is 5M pixels is far away from the quality of other models that cost less, the led flash doesn't help so much and the time respond to take a picture is not the best, talking about memory is good to know that it supports up to 8GB of external memory. in conclusion the cell phone is good if only you need is to handle 2 sim cards as the same time and you are not worry to spend more or less 400USD (including shipping and taxes ) in a cell phone. Maybe the only I really don't like on this phone is the fact that the battery is only 950mAh what means that if you don't want to run out of battery the next day you must charge it every night, this is because the cell phone can go from full charge to low battery in a moment so it shows that the system that handle the charge of the cell phone is not accurate to the consume.

cect A988 QUAD-BAND Review

cect A988 QUAD-BAND
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me preface this by saying I'm not a cell phone fanatic, I was just looking for an update with some cool features. I did some homework & thought I was getting the best deal for under $150.
I just bought the A988+ for $148 (free 1Gb micro SD & shipping) on -bay & would probably return it if I could.
Problems:
1) It is not an iphone, check out the p168+ if you are looking for something closer, but from the sound of it, if you really want an iphone, you will only be happy with the real thing.
2) There is very little info out there about this phone, when compared to the 168 (check out youtube). I hope this will change soon.
3) It is really loud, even on the lowest setting. When talking, I can't hold it to my ear 1/2 the time.
It has 3-D sound (5 speakers) so if you want to listen to your music from across the room you can, but overkill for me.
4) Probably due to amplification, I hear some hissing from the other person when talking.
5) I have not been able to read or send text messages yet (currently scouring the internet).
6) It comes with no software for converting videos & you cannot simply drag mp4's to the memory card & expect it to play. I know you can convert them with free programs, I just have to figure out how to.
7) When typing you have to use the stylus because the keyboard only gets to about 1/5 the screen size.
You have to switch to the "symbols" menu to add a space.
The "backspace" button is too close to everything else, so you have to be extra careful.
8) You can only schedule 1 alarm at a time (I like to set 2 to make sure I get up in the morning). To set another one you have to go through the calendar.
9) The date is in the YY/MM/DD format.
10) You can't set ring tones for individual people.
11) It does have a drawing feature, but it's almost pointless. Try making a straight line & it looks like an EKG machine is going crazy.
12) So far I've only seen manuals in english for sale on -bay for $4.
Good Things:
1) Background pics are easy to set. Just image search iphone backgrounds.
2) mp3's play easily, just put them on the memory card.
3) I like the camera; it takes pretty decent pictures for a phone.
4) Battery life has been good, but I'm also not on it 24/7 & I charge it whenever I'm near a computer. You can charge it through the USB cable they give you & the external battery charger w/ a 2nd battery. I don't plan on using it unless I'm away from a computer for a couple of days.
5) When dialing a # the buttons are large enough to use a careful finger.
6) It is Quad-band
7) Took my Cingular SIM card no problem
* I have not tried the TV-out function because I have not figured out how to put a video that will play on it yet.
Bottom Line:
It looks pretty cool but is more of a pain in the butt than it is worth.
I hope this helps a few of you out there looking for an awesome phone because you should probably avoid this one.

Motorola RIZR Z3 Unlocked Phone with 2 MP Camera, MP3/Video Player, and MicroSD Slot--International Version with No Warranty (Black) Review

Motorola RIZR Z3 Unlocked Phone with 2 MP Camera, MP3/Video Player, and MicroSD Slot--International Version with No Warranty (Black)

I bought this phone off of Amazon this past December, and I am actually very happy with the phone. Voice quality is way better than my last phone, a Nokia 6010, and people have never complained about my voice on the other side. The mp3 player on it is amazing, and it is really easy to transfer songs onto the phone, if they're mp3. It won't play WMV files or anything else, but mp3s work well. I especially like its ability to transfer files over Bluetooth, which is very quick and easy. My only minor concern with it, which is why I gave it four stars, is that there is just a little tiny wobble on the rising part when it is in the up position. Everything else is fantastic!

Merging an innovative slider design with an impressive feature set, the RIZR Z3 marks Motorola's first venture into the slider-style GSM market. Stylishly wrapped in a package for fashion conscious consumers looking for style and portability, the RIZR is packed with all the latest mobile technology, including a 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth compatibility, an advanced music player, EDGE high-speed data capability, and more.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.
Design The RIZR Z3 takes the standard slider-style form factor to the next level with a sleek profile, and a unique, spring assisted opening design. It also takes familiar style cues from the wildly popular RAZR flip-phone. A large 176 x 220 color display with 262,000 colors dominates the top of the slider. The 2-megapixel camera lens is discreetly housed on the upper backside of the phone, safely tucked away until ready for use. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control while a voice button on the right side of the unit allows you to enter voice memos and create voice dialing profiles. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone. Lastly, a memory card slot is included, allowing you to augment the RIZR's 20 MB of built-in memory.
Calling Features The RIZR Z3's internal phone book can hold up to six phone numbers and three addresses per entry, while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that lets you mix your own ringtones. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. And because the RIZR Z3 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total hands-free operation. Lastly, the RIZR's voice dialing feature makes calling family, friends, and business associates as easy as saying their names.
Messaging, Internet, and Tools The RIZR Z3 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging is also supported, and the phone ships with a built-in email client. The RIZR also comes stock with a built-in web browser for downloads and mobile web browsing.
iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. With its Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be easily used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs for high-speed data transfer over the supported EDGE network when coupled with a carrier data plan.
A number of handy software tools are bundled with the RIZR Z3 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar and an alarm clock. Use the phone's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth accessory or connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data. The phone also supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, and it can be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar, and other data with your PC.
Imaging and Entertainment As mentioned, hidden behind the MOTO RIZR's eye-catching design is a powerful digital camera that features an LED flash, brightness control, and a night mode. With a dedicated side camera key and a landscape viewfinder mode, you can hold it and use it like a digital camera. Capture stills and then send them to your friends via MMS messaging or email, or send them to your PC via USB or Bluetooth. Frame-worthy pictures be sent from the phone directly to your printer via PictBridge technology.
The phone is capable of MPEG4 video playback when you receive a video message, or if you upload video to the phone via USB or Bluetooth. The RIZR Z3 also supports custom graphics for wallpapers so you can dress up the phone to suit your fancy.
When the feeling strikes you, jam out to your favorite music on the RIZR's advanced music player. And because the RIZR sports a convenient memory slot, you can bring along a ton of tunes--the unit supports cards up to 2 GB (memory cards sold separately). Lastly, Java support is built into the RIZR, making it a powerful gaming companion. You can also use the handset's USB data connection to load more games and files onto the phone.
Vital Statistics The Motorola RIZR Z3 weighs 3.92 ounces and measures 4.15 x 1.79 x 0.65 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.33 hours of digital talk time, and up to 225 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies.
