(More customer reviews)I finally received my IPEVO SOLO or SO-10 almost 2 weeks ago. Believe this did not come without any attachments. You can read my earlier review of my previous skype phone the Beklin Stand-alone Desktop which only lasted 1 day. I eventually returned that unit. But let's get on with review.
Summary
Overall, I do not have alot of complaints. I have tested the unit for over 2 weeks and have decided to keep the unit and avoid the RMA process. Although it is not at the quality of the true CISCO VOIP phones with their ginormous LCD screens, beefy base and millions of other options, the Solo SO-10 comes alot further than most available SKYPE phones.
In the box:
1 base (black)
1 handset (white) I really prefer the black on black but there wasnt an option
1 cord - much thicker than the Belkin (so appears to function better?)
1 ethernet cable
1 power supply cable
1 color manual
Setup:
-Looks odd with the black base on white handset (european thing?)
-Magnetic handset latch works well.
-LCD screen is nice and tilting feature is even better
-Menu navigation via key pad and dial pad is a breeze
-Easy setup and configuration (DHCP is default setting)
-up and running within 5 minutes (just as long as you can remember your screen name and password)
Operation:
Dialing out - as soon as you pick up the phone, a dial tone appears. This is a nice feature and helps deceive our brains from thinking that this is just a Skype internet phone. To call an outside LAND line, you need to punch in the area code + number. Unlike other phones, you do not need to dial in your country code. The number keypad was exceptionally small even for my finely manicured hands. If you don't hit squarely on the number pad, you'll almost be guaranteed a misdial.
Voice Call - simple and quality was just like a regular LAND line
Speakerphone - this was its weakest area. Although the speaker phone worked, it was OK at best. For some users, your guest will hear alot of echoing. Instead, I plan on getting an independent speakerphone.
Footprint - kinda small but that's not necessarily a bad thing right?
USB port - not really sure what its use, some research shows a possible upgrade to a wireless device
Pros:
-Call quality via handset
-Easy usage/setup
Cons:
-Poor speakerphone quality
-Pricey, I paid 2x that of Belkin, is worth it? Better than the Belkin but almost 2x? Questionable
-White handset, kinda odd? Would have been better for uniform color matching, must have been an intern who made the selection while the boss was away?
-Phone ergonomics on the ear kinda stunk. Don't plan on using this feature beyond 20 minutes. I like the magnet latch option, always can find my paperclips now.
-Operations manual is lacking and does not uncover the full potential of the phone. You will have to play around with the functions to get all your features working. For example, unlike my earlier post, you can access and do all the features similar to the desktop version of skype.
-If you dial your contact using the speakerphone and the initial "hello my name is..." apparently is not conveyed. As a result, your contact replies with "...hello, hello, anybody there?" There must be a slight 1 second or 1.5 second delay. A bit annoying...Actually a lot annoying. But I keep going back to the skype $9/mth rate.
Anytime I feel blue or frustrated I simply look at my monthly skype bill and compare that to other VOIP rates and voila....HAPPY PLACE

(More customer reviews)This phone is by far my favorite phone I've had. I got it because in a military life, we go overseas a lot and go to France soon. I wanted something I could use here in the US and in other countries. These are the things I love about the phone:
User friendly-Easy to navigate and set things up. If I got lost on anything, it was easy to find out how to do things in the booklet that comes with it.
It's a great size for me. I'm petite and so I like the small size but it's not too small for me.
I love the qwerty keyboard. Easy to use and figure out and the numbers along side the front of the phone are also easy to use when you don't want/need to pull out the keyboard
It's very light but seems pretty sturdy. The sound is decent for the speaker/music and the calls are clear.
The FM radio function is kinda nifty. I won't use it a ton but is easy to use and was easy to set up. You have to use the earphones to use the radio.
Several ringers/alerts to choose from and easy to switch the melodies and the volume
I like the colors it comes in--I couldn't find it in green but pink is fine and I get lots of compliments on it.
The camera/video is easy to use. Not the best pictures but average for a camera phone
Battery life is goodThings I don't like:
The ear buds are HUGE! They don't fit in my ear very well and wish there were different sizes.
The phone didn't come with a usb cord to hook it up to the computer. Not a huge deal but I am still trying to figure out if it's possible to get music onto the memory card and get the music off the card and into the music files--still haven't had luck with that but not a big deal
Didn't come with a memory card so get one when you buy it.
I'm sure there's more I didn't think of and more I'll think of as I've only had it for about a week. I'm very happy with the product and am so glad I did the research and found the perfect phone for me.

(More customer reviews)I've had this phone for a week. I'm using it with T-Mobile, so your mileage may vary. In my opinion, it's a feature-packed phone at a reasonable price (for an unlocked smart phone, at least).
The Symbian 9 OS runs pretty well, although I did experience some lags and software freezes (with third-party apps). Fixing it was a matter of rebooting. I think the menu organization could be smarter, but you can customize much of it.
I do love that the default screen displays your day's calendar agenda. But that screen hides the main menu. Not a huge drawback, but it confused me at first.
Photos with the 3-megapixel camera are grainy (it also has a VGA camera). Since this is a phone first, and not a camera, there is also no stabilization control. It does, however, come with a flash.
Sound quality of phone calls is okay. Your friends, family and colleagues will hear you clearly. On your end, however, it will sound like you're talking on a cell phone. It's not bad, but I've had conversations on better sounding phones.
I disagree slightly with another commenter about wireless internet (WLAN) access. It's possible to set a default access point. The problem is that if you aren't at that location regularly, you will have to search for a new network. One way around it is to pony up the cash for a data plan through your wireless provider. I agree, however that some kind of one-button auto-detect would be ideal.
I don't like the SIM card slot. The metal cover pops off fairly easily -- as I found out while trying to insert my SIM card without reading the manual first.
The phone's slider form factor moves smoothly, perhaps too much so. By default, sliding the phone completely open -- something that's hard, but not impossible to do accidentally -- unlocks the keypad.
The N-80 is also bit awkward. It feels thick for lack of a better word. Its 5-way controller button also looks and feels a bit cheaper than you'd probably expect.
Another drawback: no QWERTY keyboard. You can connect to a wireless one via Bluetooth. But that assumes you want to carry a keyboard. The upshot is that the predictive text feature is solid and sensible. When enabled, it works contextually: on automatically for SMS and email messages and off when typing URLs.
Overall, I give this phone high marks for features, but a few annoyances mean it's far from The Perfect Phone.

(More customer reviews)As other reviewers wrote, this is a Europe/Asia model (the E71-1 RM-346 to be precise). If you want to use it mainly in US you should take a E71-2 (e.g. the US version) so you can use the US 3G. If you need a phone for Europe or Asia, this is a good deal because with the current currency rate it's cheaper here than anything I've seen in Europe.
The one I have came from Philippines. The manual is in English and the language can be set either in English or Philippines languages. The AC adapter is the same shape as US/Japan, and it accepts anything from 100V to 230V.
There are already a lot of reviews about this product, but here is what I love in it, in a nutshell:
* SIP (VOIP) is integrated to the system, so you can very easily initiate a VOIP call (just by typing a number or from your address book). Very convenient to make cheap international call when you're on a WiFi
* The battery life is amazing
* It's very responsive
* It's thin and slim but the keyboard is still very usable
There are a few cons in the software (such as having to switch networks manually) but unless you're really into multimedia (music/videos) it's the best phone out there.

(More customer reviews)the phone itself is nice (the hardware) but the software running on the phone doesn't seem like it was tested at all. wi-fi drops out every half hour and when wi-fi is not connected the battery drains within 12 hours. you can shut wi-fi off, but then what's the point. I have had this phone connected to my asterisk phone server and it worked well when it was connected, but it is too unreliable to use in a voip environment.
The microsoft software running on this phone freezes every couple of days and the phone needs a reboot or a battery removal sometimes to reset it.
also the gui is pretty confusing to use

(More customer reviews)first a comparison to the e61i: i had both the e61 and e61i and this is a major improvement over both. the form factor is incredible as it is only 10mm thin, much narrower than its predecessors, and feels very solid and sleek with its all metal body. the phone is just beautiful to look at. nokia has improved its processor greatly and the phone has almost no wait time with all its functions now. when i went back to use the e61i, it was unbearably slow compared to the e71. the keypad on the e71, although a little cramped, feels good on the fingers. one of my biggest complaints about the e61i was that earphone speaker was hard to hear out of, but the e71's narrower body and seemingly louder speaker solves the problem. the e71 has also added a microUSB port, and 2.5mm earphone jack. in terms of software, the e71 has an updated symbian os that includes some additional features and programs that were pleasant to see. the biggest program improvements for me was the updated organizer and the shortcut key options. for all e61 and e61i users out there, the e71 is a must update to nokia's wonderful line of phones.
comparison to competitors: function-wise, it has all the features blackberry's and the iphone 3g have. however, the e71 is much smaller than both (just put the e71 side to side with the blackberry curve and the iphone and they both look like monsters compared to the e71). i have no complaints with the 3g and 3.5g (umts/hsdpa), and I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about-- it must be a network/area dependent problem. i live in the SF bay area and i almost always connect to the 3.5g network with att and the internet is extremely fast, comparable to web browsing on a computer with broadband cable access. i really dont like the all touch screen of the iphone, so i would never consider it. i was debating between the curve and e71, but e71 beats it in both function and form-factor. the e71 has a umts/hsdpa, 3mp camera, and better battery life. all the rest (OS mainly) is just up to personal preference.
concluding remarks: if you ask "why should I get the e71", i would answer with these points based on what "I" feel is most important:
- very fast 3G capability
- excellent size, feel, and look,
- speedy processor with no lag in navigation
- improved OS and great computer connection software (nokia pc suite)
- long battery life
- 3MP camera with flash
- comes with carrying case, carrying strap, stereo earphones, and data cable
- and lastly, did i mention that this is the most beautiful i have ever seen? see one for yourself (i know its hard b/c they dont really have them in stores) and you will love the look and feel of it.

With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones.

The 3.2-megapixel camera offers a wealth of high-end photography features, including autofocus, a digital zoom, LED flash, white balance modes, center-weighted auto exposure, multiple scene modes, and a self timer. Like many other people, they may have separate address book in their PDA and cell phone respectively. This is the main reason I want a PDA phone to combine them into 1. I could have bought this phone earlier to solve the problem. I was just waiting for Apple iPhone to see if it does any better, but I eventually gave up iPhone.
Why did I choose E61i?
1) It is a unlocked phone
2) I can use truphone, a VOIP service for Symbian OS phones, to make international call over WiFi/3G network. The quality is even better than my home Vonage service.
3) The battery can last 2 or more days with normal usage.
4) QWERTY messaging keyboard makes my life easier on SMS.
5) It syncs with my address book, calendar with Outlook perfectly.
6) For the Web browser, I feel the N61i browser is better than the one in Pocket PC but worst than iPhone. You are able to zoom in and out a web page.
7) This is not important to English speaking users. I bought the Hong Kong version of E61i. It supports Chinese on typing and displaying. There is a built-in Chinese/English Dictionary too.
The nice things I figured after I bought it
1) The speaker is loud and clear.
2) It supports Podcast
3) There is a IM+ software you can purchase. It supports many popular Instant Messengers.
4) It has a message reader to read your text message with voice.
5) It can print documents with some HP printers that support LAN/Bluetooth
The things I dislike about this phone
1) Hard to find the right place to configure certain features.
2) Not much software supports Symbian OS.
3) It does not support WMV and WMA files
4) No built-in auto keypad lock. Fortunately, there is a freeware.
5) No Bluetooth power save feature on handsfree mode.
6) No touch screen.
7) A little bit too wide on the size.
