But this phone is sturdy and thats the main reason we bought it. AT&T coverage in our area is good. We dont travel long distance often so not sure how it works outside los angeles.

(More customer reviews)While it is true that the Nokia 6555 has very short battery life, it is common to all 3G phones. However, there is a way to increase battery life: change connection type from UMTS to GSM from Auto. This will disable 3G and force the phone into GSM mode, which will greatly increase battery life.

(More customer reviews)If you're looking for a phone packed with every useful feature that a $300+ phone would cost... this is it. This phone has everything that I wanted in a phone: the best all around reception of any phone that I've tried (quad band), a decent camera, excellent hands free (people can't even tell that I'm using it), expandable memory, MP3 ring tones, MP3 playback and it's relatively quick charging.
In my opinion, the only negative part of this phone is its size. It's bulky, due to its thickness and overall girth. This is why I gave it a four out of five.
This is an excellent phone for much less than others with equivalent features.

(More customer reviews)I'm a repairman for AT&T and when my previous candybar nokia had a button that started to stick, I was allowed to choose a phone from all the free phones currently offered to the public. After looking at some reviews and comparing features I chose this 6085. Now this phone gets used and abused on a daily basis while I'm out on the job, but it's kept working well for the 6 months or so I've had it. The sound quality is excellent for both user and the called party, in fact I often have to turn the volume down a bit (unless it's really windy). The speaker phone works well, and it can be used with the phone closed (my old Samsung Sync couldn't do that). I liked the phone so much I bought a microSD card to try the media player and camera. The media player works pretty well, although I haven't tried it with bluetooth headset yet, but I listen to audiobooks through the speakerphone and they sound good. The camera takes only so-so pictures, in my opinion. The colors tend to be off a bit and not too clear, adequate for showing others on the phone,but not too good for email. Battery life has been exceptional, I use the phone a lot and it lasts several days between charges. I also own a Nokia N75 phone for my personal use, but for simply making and receiving calls and for a simple to use media player, I actually like the 6085 better! It's easy to customize ringtones for callers too, which is nice. I'd rate this a 5 if not for the sub-par camera. This is the kind of phone my parents (age 74) would love, because the buttons are large, distinct and separate, the display numbers are large, and the call volume is nice and loud. Sure the N75 has more gizmos, but this 6085 is a great phone that's really easy to use.Update - October 3, 2009 - This phone continues to amaze me. I'm still using it for my work phone, been dropped a few more times, and it just plain works! Nothing has failed on the 6085 at this point, all the buttons function like day 1,media player,speaker, camera all work, and the sound quality remains excellent. Believe me I really USE this phone, probably make a couple dozen calls each day or more. Best cell phone for actual phone calls I've ever used. Also it's been the most durable with over 2 years of hard use now and still going strong. If you can find this phone and just want something to talk on, get it!
Update - July 22, 2010 - Guess what? I'm still using this phone every day for work, dozens of times per day and it keeps working. Earlier this summer we had several rainy days in a row and I got the phone wet so it had some problems for a couple of days. But once it dried out completely I was able to start using it again, with all features functioning like normal. This phone isn't sold here anymore, but if you needed a good simple to use phone, it would be worth looking at on ebay or elsewhere where you could pick up one used. I'll keep updating this review until the phone dies. See you next year?
Update - February 12, 2011 - Still using this phone, almost 3 1/2 years after it was issued to me. In the last couple of months the battery finally was losing its staying power, and couldn't hold the charge all day. Solved that problem by grabbing a battery from a another 6085 that had been used by a retired phone tech, and BAM, good battery life again. It lasts all day again now, though I do charge it each night, as I can sometimes spend several hours on the phone during the day talking with customers and other departments. The phone still functions as good as ever, although it's showing some wear with lettering on some number buttons finally fading. By the way, I never mentioned that this phone pairs with bluetooth headsets and other phones very easily. Will it make it 4 years? I'll let you know!

(More customer reviews)maybe this is not the best looking phone but it last forever. I have mine for over 2 years, and it survived so many drops on the concrete-no problems at all.
Battery last for days, I usually charge this Nokia once a week. I don't use internet though, just phone calls, some messaging, occasionally camera.
Speakerphone is loud with good quality, and camera just average.
One of the best options (I know several phones don't have)-I turn off my phone for the night, but alarm still wakes me up, and Nokia asks for snooze or for switching to phone on mode. Awesome-it saves battery and no text or phone calls can wake me up).
I recently upgraded my phone to LG CF360 (2 days of battery life, phone must be on all the time for alarm), buy after a couple of days I came back to old Nokia 6085.
