Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)After having done some research on business phones it took me a while to make a choice for i had a lot of negative and positive comments from various reviewers.
In the end because of the nature of my job (sales)i purchased this phone.
Since then i have a hands on experience apart from what even the critics say.Basically i am amazed at the potential of this phone and all its supporting applications.I never tested any other phone in this class so maby i might be biased but i had a nokia before and and i must say they are very sturdy phones. For the price i paid i would need a sturdy phone so i went Nokia. This phone is very good at receiving and sending email form exchange server at work and also has capability for blackberry server. It also has voip capabilities for professionals on the move. For a business phone multimedia applications are good, not excellent but good. Would of liked a touch screen and stylus . the size is good actually,(my hands are big)and i like the big screen. (like movin from Tv tube to lcd).

Designed specifically for extensive mobile email usage, the Nokia E61i smartphone has a slimmer profile than its predecessor, the E61. The new full keyboard design with Navi and One Touch keys offers an unbeatable mobile user experience in the palm of your hand. It also sports a mocha-colored trim and 2-megapixel digital camera on the back (which can also record video). Other features include Wi-Fi capability, Bluetooth connectivity, MicroSD memory card slot, Symbian OS, and up to 5 hours of talk time. It communicates over GSM/GPRS networks and offers data service via the EDGE network as well as via Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) networks.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity (900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.
It has a full QWERTY keyboard with backlighting for effortless email and text messaging, and it replaces the E61's joystick with a two-piece Navi scroll key with a central button for making selections and a raised, square outer frame for directional controls. It includes individual keys for email (with an LED indicator showing new messages), contacts, and an Own key, which can be configured to open any application. The E61i has a bright 2.8-inch TFT screen that offers a 320 x 240-pixel resolution and up to 16 million colors.
The 2-megapixel camera on the back of the phone will shoot images up to 1600 x 1200 pixels (good enough for 8 x 10-inch prints), and it includes a 4x digital zoom and a self timer. For video recording, it offers a 352 x 288-pixel resolution shot at 15 frames per second, and it's compatible with MPEG-4 and H.236 video formats. The E61i provides up to 50 MB of internal memory, and it's expandable via hot-swappable MicroSD memory cards.
You can mix your business with quite a bit of pleasure, as the E61i supports playback of MP3 and AAC audio files, as well as streaming and stored video files. Connect a Pop-Port stereo headset, load up your tunes and videos to a memory card, and you've got some serious entertainment in your hand. Picture effects and custom screensavers, as well as backgrounds and themes, can be set up to fit your personality. And don't forget that the E61i is a powerful gaming companion with support for Java and Symbian games.
With support for the MMS (multimedia messaging service), the E61i can send picture, video and text messages. Instant messaging is also supported, and the phone ships with a built-in email client that supports POP3, IMAP, and SMTP protocols, as well as Microsoft Office-based email attachments. A robust set of push email and wireless synchronization solutions are provided, including Activesync for Exchange and Outlook, Intellisync, BlackBerry Connect, and Goodlink.
Getting on the Internet is easy with the E61i. It supports the GPRS data protocol, as well as high-speed EDGE wireless data service and UMTS (UMTS/WCDMA 2100 MHz) 3G wireless broadband. When used with a carrier data plan and the phone's USB or Bluetooth data capability, the phone can also be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs. And don't forget the E61i's Wi-Fi capability, which makes high-speed data access a breeze via an 802.11g hotspot.
The E61i's innovative built-in browser, one of many enhancements included with the device's Symbian operating system--known as Series 60 9.1 Version 3--offers full HTML viewing as well as support for page zooming, CSS, JavaScript and other technologies that will bring you very close to a desktop PC browsing experience.
The E61i supports PC synchronization standards via USB or Bluetooth, which means you can manage and synchronize contacts, calendars and other data with your PC. Nokia's PC Suite application makes this process a breeze. A number of handy software tools are bundled with the device, including a voice memo recorder, a calculator, and an alarm clock. Productivity tools bundled with the E61i include a word processor, a presentation viewer/editor, a spreadsheet viewer/editor, PDF viewer, and a zip file manager. The office applications are compatible with the most common features of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (MS Office 97 or later). Robust contact and calendar applications are also included.
Vital Statistics The Nokia E61i weighs 5.3 ounces and measures 4.61 x 2.76 x 0.55 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 9 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 2100 MHz UMTS frequencies. Note that 2100 MHz UMTS service is not offered by any U.S. carrier. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.
