(More customer reviews)My wife needed a third phone line for her business, so when she was on the go she could get calls. This was the answer. I got this for free when I added the line, and it works well. Great resolution on the screen with decent button spacing and speaker phone. No camera or bells and whistles that a business phone does need, and great battery life, a plus. This got me to like LG so much, I got the 5300 for my wife when her other contract came due. Check this out, a very basic phone, good for kids, business line, or people who like to keep things simple like me.

Those looking for an entry-level phone will find much to like in the LG VX3400. This update to the venerable VX3300 is the perfect choice for keeping life simple. It offers a big splash of style in an ultra compact clamshell design, while easy-to-use features provide just the right touch of technology, including a powerful speakerphone and voice-activated dialing.
DesignThe phone features a traditional clamshell design with a 128 x 128 color display with 65,000 colors. A supplementary display on the outside of the handset can display call information, battery and signal strength, time of day, date, and more. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad. The top right side of the unit houses an antenna, and a charging port is housed on the unit's bottom edge. There's a standard jack to accept universal hands-free headsets on the left side of the handset.
Calling FeaturesThe VX3400's built-in address book can store up to 300 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and email addresses. The phone comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones plus a vibrating alert and, you can also record your own voice to serve as a ringtone. Voice-activated dialing makes calling your friends, family, and associates as easy as saying their names. The speed dialing feature allows you to dial up to 99 numbers virtually instantaneously, while the built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Plus, the VX3400's GPS location technology pinpoints your exact location when you dial 911. Perhaps most importantly for users in rural areas, the VX3400 is a tri-mode phone, meaning it can operate on Verizon's digital networks, as well as on the analog networks that serve many outlying areas.
Messaging, Internet, and ToolsThe VX3400 covers the messaging basics with support for sending and receiving text and graphics messages. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built in to the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. The VX3400 fully supports Verizon Wireless's optional National Access mobile data service, which allows you to use your phone as a wireless data modem for Internet access wherever you have digital coverage. Using the VX3400's USB data port, you can surf the Web and get your email and attachments on your laptop at average speeds of 60-80 kbps and bursts of up to 144 kbps.
The VX3400 ships with a calendar and scheduler, a voice memo application, and a notepad. An alarm clock, calculator, and world clock are also included, as is the very handy restaurant tip calculator. Never dine without it!
The VX3400 also sports an airplane mode feature, which allows the user to safely use the non-wireless functions of a phone (e.g. organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.
Imaging and Entertainment The VX3400 features customizable wallpaper, banner, theme colors, and fonts so you can make your phone reflect your personality.
Vital Statistics The LG VX3400 weighs 3.00 ounces and measures 3.33 x 1.79 x .94 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.0 hours of digital talk time and up to 166 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the AMPS 800/CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one-year limited warranty.
