I change my phone about every couple of months and have used everything from prehistoric Nokias to iPhones and now to my current phone, the Motorola Droid. However, the Samsung Smooth has been my most reliable and longest-used cellphone in about seven years. It is very simple to use, constructed to be extremely durable (I've dropped it many, many times), and has more features than you'd expect in an entry-level phone. It's lightweight and small dimensions makes it unobtrusive in the tightest of jean pockets. One feature that many don't know about is that you can read incoming text messages on the external display without having to open your phone. If you are looking for an inexpensive phone that can take care of your basic needs (calls, SMS, MMS) then you can't go wrong with the Smooth.

Phone Features The Samsung Smooth clamshell phone features a 1.9-inch internal display with a 128 x 160-pixel resolution and support for 65K colors, and it's complemented by an external color screen that displays current time, battery life, signal strength and incoming calls--including picture IDs. The internal phonebook can store up to 1000 contact entries, with each entry able to store up to five phone numbers as well as a picture ID, email and street address. The phone has a small built-in flash memory that is not expandable.
Handsfree communication is easy thanks to the integrated speakerphone. This phone also provides Bluetooth wireless connectivity (version 2.0), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and file transfer.
