I bought this phone to replace the second Nokia 6085 that I had had. I didn't want another 6085 because they're so fragile. My first one worked great for two years until I dropped it, which broke the camera, made the external display unusable, and reduced the charging capacity to about 12 hours. My second 6085 was fine too until I dropped it also. In contrast, I had a Motorola V400 for about four years and dropped it several times, but it never seemed to affect that phone. All these phones have been used with AT&T's network.
The 2720 is stylish, light, has a good main display and a good external display, and produces good call quality. The battery lasts a long time; I'm presently going on three days since the last charge, and the phone is still showing a full charge. I like being able to see the big external clock display by touching the volume key. In addition to the clock, the external display shows caller ID and an envelope to indicate a waiting message. Volume adjustments are also indicated on the external display.
The camera in this phone is better than the ones I had in the 6085 and the Motorola V400. Resolution is higher, producing pictures that are better suited to use as display "wallpaper." Bluetooth works fine too, enabling me to transfer files back and forth with our Macs with ease, which means mainly pictures.
On the downside, the 2720 isn't as easy to access email on as the 6085 was. One button touch on the 6085 took me to email. On the 2720, I have to get there via Mobile Web, which requires several clicks before I can get to Yahoo Mail. Once there the email display is rather klutzy, whereas the 6085 email interface resembled a computer's mail display.
Sound quality is also a bit weak. At full volume, the sound is adequate, but usually not really loud. Whereas on the 6085 the T-coil (hearing aid) setting produced a big volume increase, the 2720 T-coil setting doesn't seem to do anything. I wouldn't recommend this phone to folks with severe or worse hearing loss. The speakerphone feature is weak too, with lower than needed volume.
