Over the past year I have used the LG Fusic, Samsung A900 (Blade) and Motorola RAZR (awful) and this phone is just great. It's user interface is customizable, screen is crystal clear with great colors and speakerphone works well. I have no problems or delay accessing e-mail as others have stated. I'm a big Sanyo fan on Sprint and they have outdone themselves this time...plus its a great looking phone. Reception is good too, although I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because I have dropped a couple of calls since I got the phone last week, but nothing excessive. The retail store told me that Sprint is supposed to have some exciting phones coming out in the next few months and this is just the tip of the iceberg. All I can say is its about time.

Sleekly styled with fashionable touches, this Sanyo Katana 8500 DLX mobile phone retains the thin profile introduced on the original Katana phone and is updated with a new luxurious platinum ice finish. It operates on Sprint's North American CDMA voice network, as well as on Sprint's Mobile Broadband Network (EV-DO), which enables you to quickly access audio, video and data applications. This full-featured flip phone also features a 1.3-megapixel camera/camcorder, multi-format digital audio player (compatible with downloads from the Sprint Music Store), MicroSD memory expansion, Bluetooth connectivity for both communication headsets and stereo headphones, and a battery with talk time of up to 4 hours.

Sprint's music service is another EV-DO-powered service that makes the Katana DLX all the more desirable. With the Sprint Music Store, your phone is a music player, letting you buy, download, and then jam out wherever you are with new songs or old favorites. Offering a growing selection of more than 1.6 million songs, the store provides you two copies of each song--one for the phone and another for the PC, as well as the ability to burn songs to a CD using Windows Media Player. Save your songs to a memory card with a capacity that's right for you. You can even pause to take a call without missing a beat.
Measuring just 0.6 inches thin, the Katana DLX features a stunning radial finish in champagne and a unique reverse hinge that opens to an ideal ergonomic talking position. It sports a bright 2-inch internal LCD that offers a 240 x 320-pixel resolution and 262K colors, which also features IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology for wide-angle viewing with superior brightness and contrast. It's supplemented by an exterior TFT LCD (80 x 80 pixels, 65K colors), which enables quick viewing of the time, caller ID, and more.

It has a call history of 20 outgoing calls, 20 incoming calls, 20 missed calls, 60 recent calls. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear, and advanced voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family, and associates easy (up to 30 entries). It also offers PIM organization applications (calendar, to-do list, world clock, calculator, and stopwatch), 4 distinct vibrating alerts, 72-chord polyphonic ringtones, and a 2.5 mm stereo headset jack.
