(More customer reviews)It has e-mail, browser, cell phone, camera and Nextel direct connect. It is Bluetooth and WiFi compatible and has GPS. It is a very helpful tool. Many, many information sources have mobile device websites that contain their useful data but not all the graphics or media intensive pages.
The really helpful feature is the various applications you can download either for free or for a charge. It can help you stay informed of news, traffic, weather, sports and entertainment, as well as the all-important stock market.
On the home screen, it has your e-mail, contacts, calendar, browser, media file access, and maps. Next is the main selection area where you select from all of the above, the clock, setup, help, software store, navigation, instant messenger, sports and entertainment folder, applications, games, camera and photo files, SMS folder, search, music folder, downloaded applications, profile settings, connection management, options settings, keyboard lock and power off.
On the device itself, it has a call / answer button, a menu button, the push-to-select trackball (or pearl), a back button, and a hang-up / off button. It has a `QWERTY'-style mini keyboard with an `alt' button that allows you to type into the device much easier.
The right side has volume control buttons and a button to take photos. On the left side is a wired headphone connector, which allows you to use the phone and also listen to / view media files, and a charger / data mini-USB connector and the push-to-talk button for the Direct connect. On the back is the (2.0 MP) camera lens, lamp and a drop-in charger connector. On the top is the button for speaker on and off. Inside it has a micro-SD memory card.
Included in the package is a travel charger, headset, belt clip swivel carrier, as well as desktop interface and information software CD. This software also allows you to back up your data from you handheld because you sure would not want to loose it!
The carrier for the device I have is Sprint / Nextel. The Sprint voice and data service are fine, but they have not done as much with the Nextel side of their company and unfortunately, it shows in the poor coverage. For more information on this device, please see the Blackberry website.
The sound quality is acceptable, whether with the speakerphone, headset, or held to your ear.
