I just cancelled my Cricket account after only two months.
I cannot recommend Cricket to anyone on any conceivable grounds. The sound quality was OK and I had no trouble connecting anywhere, but I have never in my life had so much trouble with a phone company.
The customer service is unbelievably unhelpful. The sales staff made claims that they were not able to made good on. The porting department was unable to transfer the phone number that I had had for 15 years (and it was a heck of a great phone number). And the billing department was unable to set up my account for automatic billing. As a result, the phone that they claimed could be shipped to my post office box in the Sears Tower (oh, I'm sorry, the building technically known as the Willis Tower but that everyone still calls the Sears Tower) could not be, resulting in an epic struggle to find a place where they were willing to reroute it to; I lost the phone number that I had used for fifteen years (and got a rather lackluster number in turn); and twice had Cricket try to charge me a reconnection fee when their inability to set up automatic billing caused them to cut off my phone. I mean, seriously, I get automatically charged by a host of utilities and websites and various outfits. Once I gave Cricket my credit card info, what made it so challenging for them to get it set up?
The two months I was with Cricket was the most frustrating two months I've ever had with any phone company. I would counsel anyone thinking about giving Cricket a try to forget it. I had heard rumors before signing up with them that they were horrible, but I loved the price and thought that they couldn't be as bad as they were supposed to be. I was wrong and their detractors were right. I'm going to go look into T Mobile and Verizon (I can get discounts through work).
